Iphone 5 endless connect to itunes loop
after trying to install ios 7.1.2 it got hung up during the installation via itunes and the phone itself just turned off and is now stuck in a endless connect to itunes loop and it wont come out of it also no luck in restoring the phone i get a unknown error (3)

Thanks tt2, both those posts contained basically the same thing and what solved it for me. I had reviewed that Apple support document (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538) before but was confused at what to do after not finding the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver listed. Step 6 said "Look for the entry that recognizes the device as a camera. This entry should be called Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod." but didn't indicate to follow either of the next two sections depending on what I found or didn't find. Glad I was pointed back to it.
I gleened the solution from the section "If only Apple iPhone, Apple iPad, or Apple iPod appears" however Cerbu's post is more what I did: instead of clicking "Let me pick from a list..." I just browsed to the location indicated in the support document and clicked Next and it was done.

I've tried resetting and restarting the phone with no luck. It was never connected to itunes before, she didn't use icloud, and she never had it set to find her iphone so those options are out. I've tried putting it in recovery mode whole connected to itunes, downloaded the updates, and all looks great, until i get a message that it can not finish as iphone is passlocked. iTunes version 10.7 requires at least Mac OS X version 10.6.8 if you're running a Mac, or Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later if you're running Windows.

Well folks I finally got my "can't connect to iTunes" issues fixed. Seems that there was an unauthorized change to my email address and account therefore not allowing mr to connect to iTunes.
Here is how I got it fixed.
1. Contacted iTunes store support
2. Followed their instructions and replyed with the following info:
An order number from one of my purchases
Last 4 digits of the c.c. Used for the iTunes store acct
Answer to one of my security questions
And 2 items from this list.
Birthdate
Billing address for Acct
Phone number on acct
It was after all of this that they saw that someone had made an account modification back in February when the issue began. Seems they changed my email address just slightly and that is what kept me from being able to sign in and not a password issue. This was likely due to a phishing email that came out in conjunction with iCloud asking users to change their passwords to a more secure form by adding a capital and number.
To get all of this cleared up it took about 4 days as we emailed back and forth. I also needed a seperate email address they could use to send me info. Once they determined the issues and went to get them fixed by changing the email address associated with the acct and I created a new password I was able to access iTunes with no issues and even my previously thought lost acct balance was there.

My iphone 3gs will no longer let me try passcodes and it only says "Iphone is disabled connect to itunes" well, when I connect it to my laptop, itunes says "could not connect to phone because it is locked with a passcode. you must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes" Please help!!! It looks like that particular error may be realted to a hardware issue. Take a look at the article below for more information.

Check for hardware issues
Related errors: 1, 3, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1000, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.
These errors mean that your device or computer may have a hardware issue that's preventing the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't preventing your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Confirm that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

I want to back up an Iphone 3G and put all the content into Iphone 4. After I have backed up the Ipone 3G and then when Iphone 4 is connected to Itunes I do not get an Option to restore back up from Iphone 3G. The only devive is see in the drop down list is my Iphone 4. The IOS on Iphone 3G is 4.2.1 and on Iphone 4 is 4.1.
Please share if anyone has any solution to such a problem.You will first have to update your iPhone 4 in order to restore it from the backup of your 3G. Follow the directions here:

This is an erase/restore deal, so make sure all of your data is on your computer before you begin. iOS 6.1.2 will be installed on your iPhone 4.
Once done, on your iPhone 4: Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content & Settings. You'll now be able to restore your 3G backup to your iPhone 4. -

You need to have a SIM card in the phone to activate it.

After you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

Note. Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...
