Iphone 5 from Dubai
Hello, I have the opportunity to purchase an iPhone5 neverlocked from Dubai. I am living in Romania and I want to use my iPhone in to the Orange GSM network. The GSM frequencies are: 2G > 900, 1800; 3G > 2100! Is the iPhone5 purchased from EAU working? Can i activated the phone with Orange nanosim card in Romania? I heard that Facetime is removed from iOS according by EAU law. Is it possible to reinstall iOS which can provide me full facilities for iPhone?

If the phone is an unlocked iPhone 5, then yes you should be able to insert any sim card and an Orange sim card and the phone should work. It will pick up any frequency that it will work with whether that be 3G.
If the phone does not have Facetime, then there is no way to get it back and re-installing iOS will not work.
Yes, the phone should work, but why buy from Dubai when you could buy one from Europe instead that will have Facetime on it?
Also, you will have no warranty in Romania if you buy the phone from Dubai - warranty for iPhone is country specific and not worldwide, so if anything goes wrong with your phone, then you'll have to take it back to Dubai - Romania won't touch it.
Also ensure that you are purchasing the phone from a reputable seller in Dubai. You could be sold something that is not as it seems.

I purchared an iPhone 4s from Dubai and find that it does not have FaceTime on it.
The phone is now used in Europe.
How do I get to instal FaceTime please?The iPhone from Dubai will never be able to have FaceTime. The iPhone country of origin (serial no. and imei no.) is the culprit. The government there has banned FaceTime.

Iphone 5 from Dubai not working in INDIA. Call failed
I bought 3 Iphone5 from Dubai out of it 2 are working on Vodafone India(Call & 3G data) but the Third iphone 5(3G Data only) on vodafone.
i have managed to cut sim into NANO sim they are working on other two Iphone5 but not on last one.
i can use DATA service on third iphone but cant call or sms it shows call failed.

There is the problem. The iPhones originated in the US and there are NO unlocked iPhones for sale in the US.
In the future, it's best to only purchase iPhones directly from Apple or an authorized reseller.
You may simply be out of luck. You can try contacting Verizon and see if they will unlock the device for you, there is no guarantee.
If the other two are locked to AT&T, you are completely out of luck. -
Hi all, im from dubai. someone stolen my iphone5. i was trying to erase my data via find my iphone. in the end there was a notification that remove. i have click remove. then it never shows my device in find my iphone. how can i see my device in my pc...?
Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

i am having the same problem with the 4s i purchased from riyadh .You can't. FaceTime has been permanently removed from your phone, there is no way to add it back. Next time, buy your phone in India.
BTW: Your warranty & support will only be valid in the UAE. -

Actually, your issue is completely different. Phones sold in certain countries, including Dubai and the UAE have Facetime disabled by Apple at the system level at the behest of those country's governments. There is no switch to turn it on or off.

ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Most have restrictions in that you must be a current customer and have maintained service for a minimum period of time. Do yourself a favor, sell it and purchase a phone in India instead.

I have purchased iPhone 5on 13.02.2013m in BAHRAIN from authorized distributor fono of AXIOM, Dubai.. It is supply from Dubai.
This I purchased again exchange offer of my OLD 4S. In my OLD phone, Facetime was working nicely from Bahrain and I used to use it to talk with my son in Australia. Now in iPhone 55, it is not there.
I want facetime in it. If not possible, I want to replace OR return. Pl advise
Jayant JoshiFacetime is permanentely disabled from all phones legitametely sold in KSA and UAE. You will not be able to get FT working even if you are out of the UAE. Contact the seller to see if they will accept the phone as a return. There is nothing anyone here can do. This is between you and the seller.

If officially unlocked, yes. Be careful, many of the electronics stores there sell hacked iPhones. All iPhones, from official sources in Dubai, have had FaceTime permanently removed...required by law, with no way to add it back. So, if you want FaceTime, don't purchase there.

If you bought your phone from an official source, like a carrier and not in some 'market / ebay', then you can update with no issues.
If you bought it from other than a carrier then you have to take your chances. -

If you are both on the T-mobile network, the sim card should work. If you did a Erase All Content and Settings, then she should be at the point of activation as a new device...talk to T-mobile and be sure the sim she is using is a valid sim card.
