Iphone 5 from Japan and chip from Ecuador
Hi,I'm Katherine currently I'm living in Japan and I bought Iphone 5 by Amazon in Japan and I want to put the new chip from Ecuador and the cell phone didn't open, I want to know what happend is completely new. I never used this cellphone.
Amazon is not an authorized distributor of iPhones at all.
Japanese iPhones can not be unlocked. If that's who it's locked to, it's worthless to you. Return it and get your money back.

Some friends have asked me if I could buy them iphones since it will be finally released in both countries starting April. I've also read some articles about that.
But I am wondering if iphones in the states could be used in those countries? I've only been told about the release but nothing about compatibility.
Anyone got any info on the issue? Do my friends have to buy the phones released in their countries??Not sure on whether they will function, but one thing to note is that the warranty for the phone only applies in the country of purchase.
So if you buy the phones in the States and they have issues in Japan/South Korea, they won't be able to take advantage of the warranty.

i have iphone 4s from japan which is a carrier locked (kddi ) it has ios 5.1.1 and now i want to upgrade to ios 6.Can i do the software update or it will cause any harm???
If you have a Japanese iPhone and are using it with any carrier other than Softbank or AU, then it was hacked, since as the others have said neither of those carriers unlock iPhones. Therefore if you upgrade iOS or restore your iPhone, it will lock back to the original carrier and be unusuable with your current cell provider.
We cannot help you with jailbroken iPhones. You'll have to look elsewhere for further assistance.

You can NOT unlock it. Only the carrier it is locked to can legally authorize unlocking it and the Japanese carriers will not do so.
In order to be using it previously with a non Japanese carrier, the phone had to be hacked to illegally unlock it. You can not get help here.

No one from Apple can help you at all. Only the Carrier can unlock your device. You will have to contact Softbank directly.

There is not a thing you can do except get the Apple ID and password of the previous owner...that iPhone is in Activation Lock mode and cannot be unlocked any other way. The Activation Lock is an anti-theft protection that cannot be bypassed. You very well may have a stolen iPhone so try contacting the who you bought it from and get your money back.

You cannot. The iPhone is locked to Softbank, and only they can unlock it. Problem is that Softbank will NOT unlock the phone, as they do not offer iPhone unlocking.
Buy an iPhone in the Phillipines.
PS Before you go on a rant at Apple, be aware that Apple does NOT unlock phones and they do not set unlocking policies. The carriers (Softbank in this case) set the unlocking policy. -

I go to the office of Globul operator but they told me it's locked with us, they told me your contract with us must be finish and after that. And can i have a chance to unlocked my iphone before.
No. Since Globul is one holding the lock and they told you only after your contract expires then there is no way to get it unlocked.
