IPhone 5 Gaming Battery Performance

Hello all,
Just wondering how everyone is going with their iphone 5 and gaming battery performance.
I did a test last night with Fifa 13, which is pretty graphics intensive, to see how long the battery would last.
The phone went from 28% to 1% in 58 minutes of solid non stop gaming giving it about 3.5 hours of gaming time. Does this sound good to everyone? What kind of life are you getting?
Overall I've found the battery life good on wifi and crap on 3G which seems to be everyone's consensus.

No one has anything to add?

iPhone 4S Poor Battery Performance SOLVED!!
I found the issue with the iPhone 4S battery performance.
I bought 2 iPhone 4S models on the first day. One for my wife and one for me. The strange thing was that mine would kill the battery in 4-6 hours and ran VERY WARM to the touch. My wife's phone worked great. It was cold to the touch. She would forget to charge it at night... and the battery performance was great... even better than our prior 3GS models.
What was the difference? I have my phone connected to Exchange for my corporate email. But exchange is not exactly the problem. The issue is in Notification Center. For some reason, I had hundreds of calendar reminders that kept refreshing on notification center. Furthermore, the reminders would flicker between the time remaining and the start time for the event at such a fast rate that it could not be read... (clearly a bug)
What is the solution? Go to Settings>Notifications>Calendar and disable Notification Center. You can still have the "alert style" set to Banners, or Alerts and you will still receive notices about your events, but it will not BUILD a summary in the Notification Center drop down screen. This is where the BUG exists. [Oddly, this does not affect my iPad 2, but is an issue for iOS 5 on the iPhone (different builds, maybe?)]
So, it appears that Notification Center has an endless loop in collecting the calendar events from Exchange and this is burning up our 4S batteries. Once you stop the madness from Notification Center, your iPhone 4S will perform as advertised.
    Enjoy!

  • IOS 8 update causing drastic decline in iPhone 5 battery performance.

Since the IOS 8 update, my iPhone 5's battery performance has drastically declined. Anyone else having this issue?

does the battery monitor not tell u what is using it? go into settings for it.
dunno where your based but in the uk we have 4g but not everywhere so with 4g enabled on the phone it keeps searching for a better signal so turn that off. Try turning off mobile data when your not using it to see if that prolongs the battery. Like an issue I have if there is a data connection issue then the phone will be doing a lot of "trying to connect" and using up battery fast.

  • How to properly use iphone 5s battery performance

Will my iphone 5s battery performance still be at maximum (full performance and capacity) if I charge it at any percent like 57%? I always thought charging it any time will weaken the battery life so i'll have to charge it more frequently as time goes by.
Also, is charging my iphone 5s in the car and/or through a computer the same thing as charging through an outlet?

No. The iPhone wall adapter supplies 1 amp. Most computers and built-in car usb ports only supply 1/2 amp. So it will take twice as long to charge using those. And, if the iPhone is actively being used (such as using it as a GPS in a car) it won't charge at all, because the battery will be draining as fast as it is charging.
You can get higher current adapters for cars (I just got an InCase 2.4 amp car adapter yesterday at an Apple store), and some newer computers can supply 1 amp (including all Macs since 2011). There is no iPhone  benefit to an adapter that supplies more than 1 amp because the charging circuit in the phone limits the charge rate to 5 watts (1 amp @ 5 volts). An iPad, however, can use up to 2.1 amps (12 watts).

  • Wat is best ios for iphone 3g as far as battery performance is concerned?

wat is best ios for iphone 3g as far as battery performance is concerned?

According to tests done in the wild iOS4 lasted 5% longer than iOS3 (about 10 minutes). Not much of a notible difference. Best bet is to upgrade your phone. A 3Gs on iOS4 ran more than 30 minutes longer on the same test.

  • Does ios 7.1.1 improve battery performance ,also what is its effect on the speed of iphone 4s????

Does ios 7.1.1 improve battery performance ,also what is its effect on the speed of iphone 4s????
if it increase battery i want to know if it reduce the iphone speed ,as after ios 7.1 my iphone got more speed but the battery drainage increased

Tx modular, I mean by speed the general performance of iPhone which optimized after iOS 7.1 but I am afraid to update to iOS 7.1.1 not to lose this perfect performance but also I need battery life optimization

  • Iphone 5s battery performance

I am very happy with my iphone 5s battery performance when it is on ios 7.0.5, standby time can reach 20 hours   with usage time of 4 hours   after every full charged. But, after updating to ios 7.0.6, the battery life became very poor, even now with 7.1 also same problem!!
Please, i want to have the previous battery performace.

One thing to check is Settings > Bluetooth.  The update process turns it on.  Turn it off if you don't use it.

  • How is your battery performance on iPhone 6 Plus?

So far, not at all impressed and confused as to where they got their ratings of 24 hours.... I guess that was a non-possible number but my phone has been off the charger for 4 hours now and is already at 50% with moderate active use but no video files, and mostly bluetooth phone calls, emails, and texts.  I use my phone quite a bit during the day and literally only bought the bigger phone for battery performance, hoping I would see "iPad" type battery status but I am not impressed at all.  Your experiences would be appreciated.

Something is definitely wrong here. I've calibrated the battery by running it down to nothing a few times, but most of those were unintentional! I am having to recharge the battery twice a day. I have been hearing many reviewers crowing about the 6+ battery life, but mine is as bad as my much-used 5S.
I despise having to restore the phone and reinstall my settings and apps, but I guess that is the next step...

  • Is there anyone with *better* battery performance on the 3GS?

OK, there are a lot of posts complaining about the 3GS battery life. I'm now curious to find out if there's a bad batch of batteries, or if it's a software issue involving all iPhone 3GS.
My question: is there anyone out there who's getting better battery performance on the 3GS when compared to the 3G, as advertised by Apple?
I understand that there are at least 3 kinds of battery issues showing up in this forum:
    1. abysmal battery life caused by Exchange Push acting up
    2. defective battery
    3. "it seems a little worse than the 3G, something must be wrong"
There's nothing that can be done for categories 1 and 2, and I think it's interesting to talk about case 3.
Could it be that the 3GS battery indicator is simply more linear (and better calibrated) than the one on the 3G? I am one of those people experiencing subjectively worse battery life on my 3GS when compared to the 3G. But then I stopped and asked myself how I actually measure this.
Well, the difference is that the 3G stays at 100% much longer, then starts to go down very quickly. The 3GS, on the other hand, doesn't like staying at 100% and starts going down earlier but slower. But if I let them both drain, the performance at the end of the day will probably seem similar.
I tried to drain my 3GS with some heavy Safari surfing over WiFi and 3G, 30 minutes of 3G calls, using some third party apps, and with a 1-hour Peggle play. Then I finally played some videos, and it went dead after 5 hours of usage and 15 hours of stand by.
Is that the performance that can be expected, or can we hope for more? I never did the same test on the 3G, because I never noticed the battery meter going down like that, but I'm pretty sure it would turn out quite similar.
    What do you think?

Battery performance depends on what you have running on your iPhone.
e.g. If you have Brightness set to high (or full) with Auto Dimming Disabled, Locations Services, Push Notification (set Fetch to Manually), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (ask to join networks enabled too) and 3G all enabled your battery will get used a lot quicker, especially if you use Third Party Apps on top of all these other things.
If however you activate Wi-Fi when you want to use it, or Bluetooth etc as your needs require, battery performance will be better (as in your battery will last longer before requiring a charge). If you are on a low 3G coverage area, why have your iPhone constantly trying to join a 3G network? Switch 3G off and use the conventional carrier (2G) until you return to an area where you know 3G coverage is better.
I know these measures are less convenient than just having everything switched on, but if you want to maximise battery use between charges try activating the features you require when you require them, then disable them when you don't require them instead of having everything switched on permanently.
I have noticed when Push is enabled (3G has to be enabled also), it absolutely canes the battery

  • New Iphone 4s bad battery life?

I just got a new iphone about a week ago. Brand new, fresh out of the box. But I was noticing that the battery wasn't too great. It would lose 10-15% just by having it off in a locker for 6 hours a day. For each two minutes it is in use, I lose 2-3% depending on what app I'm using. I know it isn't that big of the deal, but my phone goes from 100% to 0% in a little over 2 hours of continuous use. My Ipad definently lasts lonegr than this, and the box claims the phone should last up to 8 hours of continuous use.

Restore your iPhone with current iTunes on your computer, at end when prompted, Set Up as New iPhone. See if the battery performance is better. If not, then make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

  • IPhone 4 poor Battery Life & Intended Obsolescence

I have two questions and will include clarifications/details.
    1) Why does my iPhone 4 have such poor battery life? I have had an iPhone 4 for a little over 2 years. I first noticed poor battery life a year and a half ago. I recently (two months ago) replaced my battery. The new battery still has the same very poor battery life problems. It does not last half a day if I use it at all. Before anyone asks, yes, I do constantly close my open applications when they are not in use. And yes, I had a brand new battery put in the phone 2 months ago. It only seemed to give me better battery life for a few days, and then it was back to very poor. Maybe it works for 6 hours now, when before the replacement it worked for 4.
    2) A larger question that probably can't really be answered here: Does Apple design iPhone's to break down and work poorly after 2 years? It seems to me, these phones are designed to be used for a year at full functionality, and then start losing speed and battery life. Don't get me wrong, I think the functionality of a new iPhone is 2nd to none, but the functionality of an iPhone after 18 months, is mediocre at best.

    tonefox wrote:

You did it yourself?  As Apple does not supply spare parts, including batteries, to anybody, there is your first suspect for bad battery performance.
I did not do it myself. I paid a local NYC iPhone service company. And please, what do you mean "there is your first suspect." Replacing the battery is quite easy and thousands of people have done it successfully with instructions from tutorials or sites like iFixit. Just because Apple doesn't sell the 3rd party batteries they put in their phones separately, doesn't mean tons of people haven't done it right (to the point that some can open well desgined storefronts in expensive neighborhoods in Brooklyn). You sound like a total shill. Give me evidence that replacing the battery yourself causes poor battery life. The battery I had taken out looked bad (it was slightly expanded), but the new one didn't give much improvement. Maybe an hour or two more power a day.
Does Apple design iPhone's to break down and work poorly after 2 years?
Don't be ridiculous. There are plenty of people still using 3G, 3GS and iPhone 4.
You don't be ridiculous. It may not be 100% intentional. I've heard talk about the iOS updates possibly being better designed for the new phones, so they inadvertantly become total power ***** on the older models. But this should be communicated if it is true. And I know tons of iPhone users in NYC. I know 0 who use a 3G or 3GS. And while I know quite a few people still with their 4 like me, 100% of them have horrible battery life.

  • Battery Performance

Hi all...how has battery performance been? Got my phone yesterday and charged it overnight. Barely used it today and it drained very fast.
I have turned off wi-fi...to see if that did anything but any idea how things are going?

    Joe Raymond wrote:
I don't view it as "3G Sometimes". I've knocked my device down to Edge and have taken the stance of "3G when I need it". If it's truly a phone then for the majority of the day it should either be glued to your hip or our ear. If you want to use it as a substitute for your laptop then you should expect battery life to be like one.
    Wellllll...not quite.
It's not just a phone, it's a phone and an iPod at the very least, and it's certainly marketed as more than just a phone. It's marketed as a phone, an ipod, an email checker and a web surfer.
My first take on your "if you're going to substitute it for your laptop then you should expect battery life to be like one" was "yeah, that makes sense," but on second thought, I disagree.
My 15-inch MacBook Pro laptop has what, 16x as large a screen? 5x the CPU clock cycles, and twice as many processors. My laptop has 20x the storage space on the disk. My laptop runs dozens of programs simultaneously without needeing to put them to sleep when I switch to another. My laptop has WiFi and a CDMA modem in it, and I can get 2-2.5 hours on it off the grid with a few power management tricks like dimming the screen and turning off WiFi even while connected to the CDMA network.
Given the significantly smaller size in all features and the supposed power-consumption friendly design of the iPhone, I think it's reasonable to expect that I can do laptop-like features on it with an expectation of greater than laptop-like battery life.

  • Sudden drop in battery performance?

I've had my iPhone 3gs since release, been more than happy with the battery performance untill the last two days. The battery is dropping 2% at a time suddenly. Very quickly. I have restored the phone. I am getting concerned. Any ideas?

Lots of threads about this. Seems to be an issue with the 3.0.1 update or the way it affects certain apps. There are a couple step-by-step tutorials about resetting the battery sensor, restoring as a new phone, etc. Try one or all of those and see if it helps.

  • My iphone 6 plus battery drain fast

my iphone 6 plus battery drain very fast even  I never surf net nor play game.i went to service centre at Singapore for 2 time, the staff told me my battery no problem.my battery only can last for few hours after full charge.

    Hello Jjs10099,
After reviewing your post, it sounds like the battery is not lasting as long as you would like. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
Apple - Batteries - Maximizing Performance
you can see the proportion of your battery used by each app (unless the device is charging). To view your usage, go to Settings > General > Usage > Battery Usage.

  • Iphone4 battery performance...

    hi
im a new user so im just checking iphone 4 battery performance...
To be honest I expected a little bit more from this point of view...
I got a brand new phone and the the first full battery charge lasts 24 hours...
wifi and 3g mode-on but I made only few calls and internet searches...
    What's the real standard?
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html

I'm afraid so does Damon.  The iPhone has a Lithium-Polymer battery, which does does suffer any of the problems of NiCads or NiMH batteries.  You can recharge the battery at any time, regardless of what its current charge is. It is impossible to overcharge it, it's a SMART phone it's sitting in.
A lot of apps are never open:
    http://whenwillapple.com/blog/2010/04/19/iphone-os-4-multitasking-explained-agai n/
Why worry about the backlight? Life is too short.  I offer you the only iPhone battery rule you will ever need:
If it's flat, charge it until it works. More if you like.
