IPhone 5 Ghost Dialing

iPhone 5 ghost dialing. Calls not showing up in call log. Any ideas why this is happening or solutions????

try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • Iphone 5 dials when locked

my iphone 5 dials contacts on its own when not being used
    it does it regularly
i only find out when people ring me back
my phone is always locked when not being used

You're probably activating siri by accident and it mistakes what you're saying/background noise and calls people.

  • Podcast on iPhone ghosted and cannot be deleted

I have a podcast on my iPhone 4 that is grayed / ghosted out and cannot be deleted by swiping. I tried redownloading it in iTunes and syncing, but it just showed up as a new podcast by the same name. The ghosted podcast is only 4 seconds long and it will not play. How can I get rid of this, short of reformatting my phone?

I am having this exact same problem. I went to the Apple Store today and they were baffled too. They told me to connect to iTunes, right-cick my device and choose "Transfer purchases from my iPhone" and that should do the trick. No luck. This is frustrating and I am at the point where I'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and reset my iPhone to factory specs, losing all my apps and settings. I hate to have to do this but I can't find any answers online and can't spend the time waiting in line at the Apple Store.

  • IPhone crashes dialing or receiving a call from a specific number

This problem i've had for a while.
Basically when i receive or make a call to a specific number ie (0191420**) my iPhone becomes unresponsive with the green incall bar across the top when i make the call and a complete crash when receiving it, although it logs the call as a missed call when the iPhone is restarted. I cant end the call until i restart the phone.
Originally the number was a business contact in my address book contacts, then, when i started getting the problem, I deleted the contact thinking it was corrupt. It didn't make any difference.
All my contacts are synced over mobileme and this contact was deleted over all my devices, powerbook, iPhone and iMac.
But still when i dial or receive this number and only this number the phone locks up straight away.
It started on my iPhone 3G then when i synced my new iPhone 3GS the problems continued even over a complete restore.
I'm thinking its something to do with the contacts list file but don't know how to correct it with out deleting all my contacts which isn't an option.
I've searched all the forums but nothing is mentioned about this specific issue.

    Hi Macintoad,
I think I had the exact problem as what you are having. Having a greenbar on top while making call, and can not press any button, also the Iphone screen is blinking while a call is comming from that number and ontop of this, the contact name wont display on outgoing/incoming sms messages.
I did manage to fix it by doing this, hope this also works for you..
Backup all contact details to computer - address book.
Delete that specific contact detail (Hopefully you don't have too many contacts causing this problem - I only had 1 number causing this)from both your computer(s), and mobile me.
Add back all contact details from address book to your Iphone - I only add contacts, without any other settings (I had to reinstall all apps).
Add manually that number back to the phone, and then sync back to computer/mobileme.
Please let me know if this works...
    Good luck!

  • Can't turn off keyboard sound on iphone when dialing. I don't want to hear the clicks. Any advice?  It never did this before and just happened out of the blue.

All of the sudden my iPhone clicks when I dial a number.  How can I turn off this annoying feature?

Did you already try to set it up as new device, as explained in this article?
How to back up your data and set up as a new device
Maybe without using the latest backup afterwards, in case it contains corrupt data causing your problem.

  • IPhone "ghost" contacts

Ok so yesterday I noticed something odd... I got a phone call and the screen said.. Luis or Luis... and it was my default tone, yet I have a custom tone for him and many contacts...
I edit the tones, and same thing... i deleted him... yet contact info was still there...
So I erased my contacts by deleting my iCloud account and clicking ERASE ALL CONTACTS FROM iPHONE....
Now I have NO contacts in my contact book.. yet all the contact info appears via the blue arrow on Texts or even phone calls...
    I don't get it?

You'll have to restore the iPhone and set it up as a new device.

  • Delayed Number Entry - Iphone Dialing Conference number and then passcode?

How do I use the Iphone to dial a conference number when you need to wait to enter the passcode - I want to set up these frequently dialed conference numbers as contacts and have the iphone automatically enter the number, wait, and then enter the passcode.
    Thanks - Elyse

enter the number in your contacts in this format:
    (555)555-1234 ,555
The space and the comma inserts a pause before the next numbers dial.
(note: I have had problems getting this to work when on the speaker phone, the second numbers dont go thru, off of speaker it works fine)

  • Phone number links in iCal on iPhone

When I receive an email on my iPhone that has a phone number included in the text it shows as a link I can tap, and then my iPhone will dial the number. Nice. Is there a way to enter a phone number in iCal that will act the same way? I often place customer phone numbers in iCal appts, but they are not clickable; it would be really handy if they were. Am I just not knowing how to do this?
    Thanks!

I don't believe this is possible. I sometimes enter a phone number as a note for an event, but the number is not active/clickable to dial the number as is available with a received email or with a website.

  • Moving iPhone 4S to a different Verizon line

    Hi all!
I have an iPhone 4S on my personal line, and a Droid Bionic on my corporate line.  Originally the Bionic was on the personal line, but I moved it to the corporate when the iPhone came.
I'm debating switching the two phones back (ie putting the Bionic back on the personal, and moving the iPhone to the corporate).  The main reason for this is that on my personal line I'm grandfathered into unlimited data, and when the Bionic was on that line, I had a $30 unlimited tethering option, which I've now lost due to the iPhone - which has a $20 2GB Tethering option, also EVDO instead of the Bionic's LTE.  If I move the Bionic back to the personal line - which will mean me having to go to a store and get a new LTE SIM card - then I should get the unlimited tethering option back.  (I know this works because a few months ago, I had a Thunderbolt on the personal line, temporarily swapped to a Blackberry, lost the tethering, then swapped back to the Thunderbolt and got the unlimited Tethering option back).
As you can see, I've done a lot of phone juggling the past few months, but with LTE phones (easy to swap SIM cards) and not with iPhones.
My real question is: to move the iPhone to my corporate line, do I just call the *228 number on the iPhone, or do I have to call Verizon to do it, given that the iPhone activation process (iTunes and all that) is different from either regular CDMA/EVDO phones, and LTE phones?
    Thanks for any input!

Shirokuro73, thank you for your inquiry. Normally you would be able to activate an iPhone by dialing *228 since it was originally connected to iTunes. But as Gina mentioned, since the phone is still tied to another account, it may not allow you to complete the change that way. You can have the store complete this for you when you get your replacement SIM card or call into customer service at 800-922-0204.

  • Are you having wrong number display in "My Number" on iPhone 4S after porting # from another carrier? Try this.

My story: I am in the US. I went from carrier AT&T to Sprint, and ported my old number over after purchasing and recieving a new iPhone 4S from Sprint. Since the phone was shipped, I waited to port until I had the phone in hand to avoid changeover delays.
    All worked fine except:
Sometimes when texting to my contacts, they reported the number showing up as the # issued to te phone when shipped, not my old ported #.
"My Number" on iPhone 4S showed shipped number, not ported number.
I discovered the problem is the number rooted in "My Number". Since it didn't change as expected, certain functions including Facetime and iMessage referred to "My Number".
    So here's the fix:
From your Sprint iPhone 4s, dial ##873283#
A pop-up window will open, hit OK to "Start Service Update".
Another pop-up will open shortly, "Service Update Complete", Hit "Done"
Power cycle your iPhone 4s. You're now done. All should be fixed.
I don't claim coming up with this fix. I discovered it after trolling many forums on the subject to find one that fit my exact circumstance. This may work on your carriers as well, but refer to your carrier service tech support to make sure the Service Update code is the same. I shared this fix with Sprint Support, as they knew nothing about it, and it's become part of their normal procedure to address this particular issue.
    Hope it helps for you!
    Oz

Thanks, this really worked! I'll recomend this post to friends.

  • Is there a way to pull up a numeric dial pad in Continuity?

Maybe I'm missing this but how does one use Continuity to make phone calls on Yosemite via iPhone but dial into conferences? Many conferences require dialing additional numbers but there's no dial pad to enter anything.

How about the numbers on your keyboard?

  • Sending iphone sms from my mac

I want to be able to interact with my iPhone using Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher. Some of the things I want to do are:
    - display my iPhone screen on my MacBook Pro screen
    - open & close apps and generally interact with my iPhone using my MacBook Pro screen, keyboard & mouse
    - compose SMS messages on my MacBook and send them through my iPhone
    - read SMS messages on my MacBook that have been received on my iPhone
    - get my iPhone to dial numbers from my OS X Address Book simply by clicking on the number in the OS X Address Book App (e.g. no interaction with iPhone involved). Would like to get a similar means of controlling my Cisco/Linksys VoIP phone in the same way if I could, but hey - one thing at a time.
    My philosophy is this:
    - I have used a Mac for the past 28 years and find it the best computer interface since sliced bread.
    - I type at over 80 words a minute, so find it easier to type stuff on my Mac than on iPhone or other iOS device
    - my iPhone (or my VoIP phone) is just another communications device that merges with my MacBook and extends my communications media to include voice & SMS along with other media such as Skype, iChat, Facetime (which I have on my MacBook btw), etc.
Together, my iPhone, MacBook Pro, iPad, etc. should form a seamless communications system that enables me to communicate with anyone, anywhere, using whatever method I choose (Voice, video, SMS, email, Facebook message, etc).
A nice to have would be able to integrate all the messages, phone call logs, etc. into Address Book, so that when I open a particular contact, there is an option to show me all the communications I have had with that person in whatever format.
    So, anyone any ideas?
Apple, when do you think some of these features will become integrated features in OS X and iOS?

KiltedTim - Apple do read these types of posts in order to pick up isses in their software, help develop pre-emptive bug-fixes, and identify future feature requirements.
k.kofflard - The link you give is for an updated version of OS X Mail that is available only in Mountain Lion. Messages is already on iOS 5 which I have on my iPhone. Whilst it enables messaging to other OS X and iOS devices, it can communicates mainly via the IP protocol and overiding SMS - e.g. when the iOS device is attached to an IP network, it bypasses SMS and messages the other iOS/OSX device directly. This is neat because if saves on text message charges to other iOS/OSX users, but does not work at all with non-Apple users (e.g. currently 90%+ of the population). However, if I try to message a contact who only has an old Ericsson mobile phone, it won't work on OS X and iOS5 simply reverts to SMS if it has a GSM connection (which of course Macs, iPods and most iPads do not have).
The point is we live in a hybrid OS world and will always need to exchange message with non-Apple devices. What I need is a simple means to use my existing SMS capability of my iPhone (to message non-Apple users), but drive the messages from my MacBook Pro using OS X. Surely it can't be that difficult to create a small App that enables this function?

  • HT201436 My iphone has froze with the voicemail password, want to try and reset pasword

How do I reset voicemail password?

With AT&T:  Open your iPhone to dial a call.  Press and hold the number 1 until a voice answers (listen carefully, the voice was very soft for me).  It gives a number of options, including resetting your password or turning off the password for voicemail.  I turned off my password for voicemail.
The standard password for AT&T voicemail is the 10-digit phone number that the phone is registered with, but that did not work for me.  I used the steps above.
