IPhone 5 got really wet

My iPhone got very wet and had much condensation that was visibleon the front and back cameras. I put it into a a bag of rice for over 24 hours. Now, my phone has trouble booting up. The Apple logo keeps popping up in the middle of the screen, fade out, and then reappear. Any tips on what I should do? Should I put it back into the rice?

Hi Eric, thanks for the response. Would you happen to have a ballpark estimate for the cost of such repair for this?

  • IPhone got really hot

I was just walking with my iPhone and turn on iPod and the screen switched off, I've tried to turn on iPhone, but he doesn't turn on but the top part of iPhone became really HOT, like +60 +70C. I can't even hold the phone in my hands for the top part. Power button really HOT probably +80C. The main problem that I can't take out the battery and today in Sunday and I'm in the middle of Russia. There is no Apple service at all.

Well, my screen went black, but I don't know if iPhone is turned off, there is no signs if the screen is dead you can't figure out if the power is on or off. Looks like in Apple they don't think that there should be a light indicator of power.
Anyway, the phone is still hot, but cooling down. Thats makes me feel better, I thought that it's will explode.

  • IPhone got really, really hot then died!

I noticed that my iPhone needed to be charged so I hook it up to my wall outlet charger and within a matter of minutes it became almost to hot to hold in your hand. I then disconnected it and when I did it shut off and has never turned back on. I've tried plugging it into the home charger again, plugging it into my MBP and maybe restoring it, but nothing has worked. Please give me some idea what may have happened.
    Thanks

I called Apple support and they are going to most likely replace it. They said that it was a "device failure", duh, and that it was covered under the 1 year warranty. So unless they can repair the same unit, which I think would be a waste of time, they said it would be replaced with a new one. Sweet!!

  • Got my Iphone 5 slightly wet!

Got my Iphone 5 slightly wet, and it died! replaced the battery and its come back on, except its constanly searching for signal, and has lost front camera, otherwise wifi etc works as normal. Could i have disslodged a connector replaceing the battery or has the water done more damage than the battery. Loads of dodgy looking websites that are probably based alongside petrol stations offering to 'Give me a quote', but would sooner chuck it away. Nearest i store is 100miles away so difficult and expensive to get there advise, anyone had  a similar experience, is it possible ive disslodged a connector when replaceing the battery?

Um... sorry. Degrees of wetness don't really matter. Just like you can't get your girlfriend "a little bit pregnant".
You could have completely borked the phone in attempting to replace the battery.
You're going to have to look someplace like ifixit.com for advice.
The iPhone is not considered user servicable. Apple does not sell iPhone parts at all, including batteries. Now that you opened the phone yourself, Apple won't touch it.

  • My iPhone 4 was run over at work worked fine  for 5 days then got really hot and shut down. I can not get it to power back up. I have photos that were not backed up is there anyway that I can retrieve my photos from the phone?

MY iPhone 4 was run over at work by a forklift the screen was badly cracked but other than that worked fine for 6 days. Then it got really hot while charging and shut down and will not  power back up. I have photos on this phone that we're not backed up to I cloud is there any way to retrieve my photos from this phone?

No. You probably should have backed it up while it was working during those 6 days...

  • My iphone got wet how do i get it to work again- it won't turn on.

Got caught in a rainstorm and my iPhone got wet-- how do I get it to turn on again...it won't turn on?  I've already tried putting it in rice for 2 days and nothing.  Any other suggestions?

Let it dry for a week or so.
If you have tried to charge it or turn it on, then the damage is likely done

A liquid damaged iPhone 4 can be replaced by Apple for $149.
By the way... and electrical short can be dangerous, creating a fire or explosion hazard. You can see the short that's affecting the flash... It's the short you may not see that's affecting the battery and/or charging circuitry that's the problem.
    Get it replaced.

  • My iphone got wet and is now stuck on silent

My iphone got wet in my pocket today and now is permanently stuck on silent.  The sound is still working when I check ringtones in settings so that's not damaged and everything else seems to be working..........   How do I fix this?

You need to let it dry out first.  Put the phone in a plastic bag with rice and let it soak out the water.  Also make sure your silent switch has not been turned on by accident.

  • Finally got round to buying an iPhone 4, really excellent to start with. The sharing of music from my Mac Mini was excellent. ios6 update has ruined all that! The artist view miss's out most of my music and the sharing sometimes doesn't work at all!

How do I get this feature working again? I am reluctant to move to iTunes 10.7 because I don't trust Apple at the moment.

    My suggestion:
    1) Always using MAC AIR with the power plug in.
2)Don' let the power level of battory fall under 30% percentage.
3)If the MAC can't be recharged now, just let it be with power plugged, WAIT...

  • My iphone got wet in the rain.  the camera light is now permanently on - any clues

my iphone got wet in the rain and does not appear to be working - the camera light is permanently on...

Does the camera work correctly? I have seen this before on iPhone 4, so may not apply to 4S. But if camera does not work, then simple camera replacement could be the next step to fixing this problem of both camera and flash (they are combined part).

Yes it does, although I wa a minute faster than you. To see if someone is parroting you, or that they just posted at the same time, look at the head of the post and it will show you the data and time of the post and who they were responding to. Looking at that first saves some misinformation in future posting.

My iphone got wet, shut itself down, and won't restart. What do I do now?

Put it in a bag of rice or silica gel. Leave it there for a week. Do NOT attempt to power it on or charge it before the end of the week.
If it still doesn't work after that, make an appointment at the genius bar and get the phone replaced or buy a new one.
