IPhone 5 has vertical lines on the screen. Help !

Hey a few days ago. I left my phone on a table faced down in a small puddle of bubble mix. ugh.
Everything works the sound, touch screen, camera. No glitches. But my phone is discolored & has vertical lines.
I was wondering of If should just get a new screen or if there's a better way ??

Try backing up the phone and then do a restore, when you restore set it up as new to see if it still persists if it does you''ll probably need a repair.

My iPhone 4 has blue lines down the screen which occasionally change colour. I've tried resetting it and restoring the settings but it is continuing to do this. please help....

To rule out a software issue, set it back to factory settings without using the latest backup.

  • Intel iMac (Early 2008) Has vertical lines on the screen and doesn't boot.

My iMac froze up tonight, and upon restarting it there are a number of yellow vertical line segments throughout the display, and it will not boot completely into the OS. The spinning segment just stops and the computer does nothing. I inserted my Leopard disc to run a hardware test but holding D during bootup does nothing, even though I can hear the disc spin up.

    Any Thoughts?

I've had this same exact issue and have had to have the graphics card replace (nvidia 8800gs).
It seems these graphics cards are defective in some way.
Unfortunately my iMac is out of warranty and I must pay 3500dkk ( 500usd ) for repair.
I'm very disappointed as to the reliability of these iMacs as I've only had it for 2 years my old iMac g4 1ghz has performed better than this and is actually what I'm using until my so called new iMac is back from repairs

  • My brand new IPhone has a line down the screen.

Nothing has happened to it, I was just using it set it down, picked it back up a few minutes later and boom this line is there?? It also affects the use of the phone. I don't get what could be wrong?

Reset, hold both Home and Power buttons for about 10 seconds until iPhone begins to restart itself, ignore the "slide to power off", let the iPhone restart itself. See if better, if still problem, Restore the iPhone with current iTunes on your computer. See if fixed. If still problem make Genius reservation or set up Service and take or send to Apple for resolution under Warranty.

    king,
If your Powerbook's serial number (do not post it here) starts with "W8" then the vertical lines are mostly likely due to a defect in the display itself. W8 is a factory code and, during the iMac G5 and PowerBook G4 timespan, that factory shipped thousands of units with the same defect. It cannot be fixed via software.
As all PowerBooks are now classed as "obsolete," an Apple Store will not work on it. They will look at it ands tell you it has vertical lines and that they cannot fix it. This Apple article shows Apple devices they curently considered obsolete:
Vintage and obsolete products - Apple Support
It is possible that some Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) will still work on older computes but they cannot get neededparts from Apple. As this issue was so pervassive, it wil be hard for you or an AASP to find a used/pulled display that is not effected with the "W8 Curse."
Although I love the old PowerBooks, I would not even spent the money for disks, much less the US$150-400 it would cost to replace the display, even should one be available.
If you give us a rough idea of where you are in the world, we can suggest repair shops specializing in fixing older Mac notebooks, but be aware those resources may be rather scare outside North America.

  • My macbook pro keeps freezing with vertical lines on the screen

I have a 2010 macbook pro that has worked wonderfully until now.  As of late it keeps freezing with vertical lines across the screen.  To me this indicates a hardware problem, but I ran a diagnostic (restarted while holding D) and it didn't find any errors.  It seems that it happens when I move or bump my macbook, leading me to think it may possibly be a disk problem, but I'm not sure how to check this.  Anybody else ever have this problem or could suggest a fix for it?

You can try a pram reset, which might help with the display, but the bumoing thing is what concerns me.
    PRAM reset:
Power down, power back up and hold the following keys before the start up chime.
option, command, P, R,(no commas) continue to hold these keys till you hear the start up chime 2 times then release.
Reboot see if this helps, the bumping part scares me.
    Hope this helps

  • Ipod classic has grey lines on the screen

I noticed today that my iPod has a few shortish grey horizontal and vertical lines on the screen. They are approximately on the spot where the picture of the battery shows up when the screensaver-thingy shows up. They aren't huge and don't really make using my iPod impossible but they do bother me. I've been using my iPod normally and I usually keep it in a plastic case to avoid the screen getting smashed in my bag etc. So the lines just.. showed up. Resetting the thing didn't help and the lines are always there.
    What the heck?

I have had exactly the same problem for the last week. 4 horizontal lines. Just came on after I had synced. Have restored and no difference

  • Qosmio G15: green vertical lines on the screen

It all started one regular day when I was playing music on my iTunes.
Suddenly my screen went black and the music stopped, but my power button was still blue. Ever since then, whenever I try to start it, it goes on the Qosmio screen and the Windows XP screen and plays the start-up sound, but it has all these green vertical lines on the screen. And then it goes black and tsays that way.
I have been able to use Windows VGA (whatever that means) with lines all over the screen, but I am not able to start it up normally. Does anyone have any suggestions or have had the same problem??? Please help me!!!
I have a Toshiba G15 Windows XP Media Centre, but am not able to use it normally!

Hello, This problem happens to me two weeks ago. I have a F10 and the warranty expired 3 months ago. I rarely use my laptop. Talked to a well known local store rep. He said there was a specculation on F10 as it was discontinous after a year of release. I agree that well known company like Toshiba should operate like Car companies and be honest on their products. Specially high end product like this.
I was not informed about extended warranty when I bought it as the local store just want to sell and sell and move on. One of the regional store which represents Toshiba to repair all Laptop, said They are only allowed to fix all laptops except Qosmios models. They have to sent it to Toshiba.

  • My iPod 5th generation has white lines across the screen and i cannot unlock it

My iPod has white lines across the screen. I cannot do anything! Somebody please help! P.S. I dropped it and it did this.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. I suspect that the drop damaged the iPod

  • T400s vertical line down the screen - outside of warranty

    Hi
I've had a T400s for just a 2 bit over 2 years now and was always happy with it. I used it mostly with my docking station and have never travelled with it. Now out of the blue one day half the screen was black with a few pixel problems right in the middle with a clear vertical line down the screen. I was perplexed because I was sure no damage whatsoever happened to the notebook.
I googled and it seems to be a common problem:
    A link among others:
"We have about 1200 T400s systems deployed and there has been a higher than normal failure rate with them compared to X301 and T61 systems. Our issues are LCD failure with a vertical line down the screen (very common), Speaker/Audio issues, and DoA systems."

The problem seems to be known:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76367
But since the notebook is outside of warranty but it's obviously a manufacturing problem on a (very) expensive notebook, how could I approach Lenovo service center to repair it for me? I have shelled out well over 2'500 Euro for the latest model back then and am a bit disappointed to be honest..
Thanks for any advice on how to approach this!

@tripplec, i don't understand how a Chinese company affects the outcome of the OP's problem? Would IBM do it differently?
Yes, I spent 3 years at a Toronto Bank who bought say 500 systems or so plus notebooks. ThinkPad's and Think Center product. I supported did the warranty work while there. When the warranty was up it was up!! Even if a  lowly optical mouse fail and a number of them did. Too bad nor replacement.
I've delt with IBM, Compaq and HP. There customer relations is entirely at at different level and would and did on  may occasions provide one time post warranty repair even for catestophic issues well after warranty was over. This is a case by case basis. You could reach them and talk to them (locally) and not haveway around the world having no sense of what significance your case it.
There is a difference as was the turn around time  48hrs max and not weeks.

  • Satellite P100-286 - Vertical lines on the screen and constant reboots

I got this P100-286 with Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS and recently the laptop started freezing with vertical lines on the screen tried different options even tried recovery cd to re-install and after installation it started doing the same. I have read similar problems in the forum and is this a common problem with Toshiba? I have spend 1500 on this and it is only 3 years old. My friends have laptops older than this almost 6 years and in good working condition.
Is there any solution or suggestion for this problem? The heat on the base of the laptop is really hot and it is like this for ages.
Any help is really appreciated after spending this much would like to last longer or it is a realibility issue with Toshiba brand.

It is happening in BIOS and even tried ubuntu on a boot cd and still having the same problem. I took to a PC servicing center they immediatly said it is a graphics card problem. The lines are comming in an external display as well. If you search in this forum you will see similar issues is reported by another user. I do think it is a genuine problem. The graphics chip is on board and it cost a lot to replace it that is what I been told.

  • Why are there 2 thin red vertical lines on the screen of my MBP 15" retina which is only 2 months old!

I would just like to understand why there a two thin red vertical lines on the screen
I suspect I need to bring into an apple store for diagnostics but is anyone aware of the likely cause?
    thanks v much!

It could be a GPU issue, a display issue or a display connection issue.  The genius bar technician will offer you a definitive answer and should fix it under the warranty provisions.
    Ciao.

  • Qosmio G10 has vertical lines on the display

I've got a G10 which I've been using quite happily for the last 15 months since I bought it.
However, it's now got 4 vertical lines on the display, 2 purple (magenta?), 1 yellow and 1 cyan. Other than these lines there are no other problems, it's never crashed or anything like that.
The lines are always there, they never change in any way and are always in the same place. They appear on the display at very first powerup, before the Qosmio logo comes on.
They didn't all appear at the same time, they have all appeared individually over the last two months. I did see the last one disappear briefly, then stay on.
I'm assuming my display is slowly dying, which I would assume to be an expensive item.
Any advice thrown my way would be much appreciated!
I took a picture of the screen which you can find at:
    http://www.imagebucket.net/images/lldata/displaylines.jpg
Note: picture was taken with Media Player fullscreen on a black image, just to show up the lines clearly)

    Hi
I would suggest connecting an external display to check if it's a graphic card or a display problem. If this lines appears also on the external display so there could be also something wrong with the graphic card.
If these lines don't appear on the external monitor so only the notebook display has a malfunction.
However, this doesn't change anything on your situation. I would recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for solving this issue.
