I am not sure exactly what icon you are seeing in the status bar of the iOS device. However, on page 12 of the user guide below is a list of status bar icons that may answer your question.

Im writing a candidate exam about how icons could help out a certain application in a smartphone format.
I would love to have an overview of the IPHONE/IPAD ICONS that are used in the iOs 5.1 or earlier.
I would assume i could find them in the SDK but i cant log in and dont want to pay 99$ for just an overview of these icons

Of course they have, im just thinking it cant be illegal to evaluate and test these icons.
As i cant access the SDK, do you know where the guidelines may exist?

If you did that already and looked at your recent calls and the red dot doesn't disappear then try rebooting the phone. Hold down the Sleep and the Home buttons until the Apple logo displays on the screen.

I want to change my iPhone application icon on run-time, i want to change icon on some event.
I've already tried many things.
Like:
1) run time change info.plist file,

It's working fine on iPhone simulator but, not working on my iPhone Device.

Not possible - this info is stored in the bundle, which you can't change. Your only option is adding badges to the icon.
Apple's calendar does it... but they're Apple.

Switch off Zoom: Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom OFF

IPhone Clock icon

This is not a question, but a suggestion. I think the iPhone Clock Icon needs to work as an actual, live and accurate, clock showing local time while it just sits there on the screen.

IMO, that's just a waste of processor, memory and battery especially when you have the time at the top of the screen.

As you'll note it's made by Presselite and that page has a link to their support.

iphone photo icon disappeared. How to restore?

It's a pre-installed app and therefore cannot be deleted so you may have inadvertently moved it onto a screen or into a folder. Check all screens and folders and do a search in Spotlight, it will tell you if the app it still on your iPhone but unfortunately not where it is. If you find it on one or your screens or in a folder, press the icon until it wiggles and then drag it back to where you want it. Alternatively you can reset your home screen in Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

These are webapps and you can only use them while you have a WiFi connection.
Other than on hacked iPhones there are no 3rd party applications, but things are changing in June with software version 2.0 and the debut of the Apps Store and 3rd party applications.

Can Iphone Apps icon and Siri be restored?

Lost my iPhone "APPS" icon and "Siri" to speak questions, etc. Can they be restored?

They are a part of iOS and as such cannot be removed.
Check all folders and homescreens for the App Store icon, if it still cannot be found, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.
There is no icon for Siri... it is either on or off.
Settings > General > Siri > ON

All my iphone app icons disappeared when I downloaded the new OS system. I can find the apps under "purchased" in Apps, but I am only allowed to open them. There is no cloud icon indicating that I can reinstall them. What should I do?

IPhone Restore scrambles all my iPhone Desktop Icons

I just did a restore from backup and all my desktop programs/icons are now all in the wrong spot. This is frustrating as I had everything where I wanted it and now have to spend a good half hour fixing what the restore screwed up. If it truly restores from a previous state, why are all the programs moved away from where they were? Is there an iPhone program/icon manager so that I can easily move things from one page to the next without having to do it on the phone itself?

did you do a back up right before you did the restore? are you running the latest itunes and iphone software?
before 2.1, the icons would get rearranged anytime you added/removed/updated and app. with 2.1, this no longer is the case.
