IPhone 5 in car charger?

Can I use my iPhone 4 car-charger with my iPhone 5 if I use the lightning to usb cable ?
Does the new Iphone use the same current as the iPhone 4 ?
Cheers

Yes, that's exactly what I did.  I keep an iPad-compatible charger in my car's accessory port, and then I keep both a 30 pin cable for my iPad and a Lightning cable for my iPhone 5 in the car, and I just swap them into the charging port for the device I need to charge.
Even if you have an iPhone-only capable 12 volt to USB power converter in your car, it will charge fine as the power requirements are the same between iPhones.

  • IPhone 3G car charger

Just upgraded to 3G iPhone and the car charger I have been happily using for the last year has stopped working and is not supported. Firstly they kept that a bit quiet. Secondly, any suggestions for a car charger that does work
Just looking for a standard charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter.

Apple changed the design of the iPhone 3G dock port such that it can no longer draw power from the FireWire pins in the dock connector, and those are the pins that many car chargers use (since FW can carry higher voltages than USB).
I can confirm that the Griffin PowerJolt and PowerJolt SE work fine with the iPhone 3G. I have both; the SE is all one piece, whereas the non-SE version has separate lighter plug with a USB port and a USB-to-dock cable. The advantage of the latter is that you can use it with other cables (e.g. the Apple BT Travel Cable if you have an Apple BT headset, or the USB charger cable for a 3rd party BT headset).
    Hope this helps...

  • Iphone 5 Car Charger

What would you recommend for iphone 5 healty battery life?
5v,500mA or 10v,1000mA which car adaptor is the best for iphone 5?

I just visited the local Walmart and didn't find any of the "Brand Name" USB Charger Accessories on the SmartPhone Rack.  However, when I visited the Computer Accessories gondola, I found both Griffin and Belkin USB Charger Accessories.  The Griffin was lower cost and had two USB ports, but was 1 amp.  The Belkin only had one USB port but was 2.1 amp.  I choose the Belkin for what I imagine will be a little faster charging.  Neither box stated the Watts.  There were quite a number of other Brand USB Chargers, and they were the same or lower cost, but given that this thing is going to charge my iPhone 5 ...I bought the Brands that I was familiar with.
And interesting fact was that there was one Brand of USB phone chargers that were packaged based on a specific Brand cell phone with the appropriate cable and plug for that phone.  The last box of this particular Brand was the same price as the others but had at least six different cables for different phones and devices included.  Now why would I buy the ones for only one particular phone or device?

  • IPhone 3GS car charger problems

Hello. Up until a couple days ago, I could easily charge my iPhone 3gs in my car using an apple cord and a charger with a USB port. But suddenly, it no longer works. When I plug the charger into the phone, I get a tone and the battery indicator on the phone screen shows it's charging. Within a minute, I get a warning screen that says something to the effect of "This device does not support charging." I've tried two different cords and the same thing happens. But when I plug my iPod into either cord, it charges just fine. Here's the kicker: If I plug my iPhone via the cord into my desktop or an electrical outlet using the adapter, it charges fine. What the heck is going on? Is this an indication of a dying battery?

Clean the dock connector and the iPhone end of the cable with a clean, dry toothbrush, or wooden toothpick. Use a magnifying glass to make sure you got all of the pocket lint.
For the charger, try a different one. They are cheap enough.

  • IPad vs. IPhone car charger?

Is the Ipad car charger the same one as my IPhone 3GS car charger?

Jim, where did yu get your values:
The Apple chargger that cam with my iPone 4S say 1 amp. The charger that cam with my iPad 1 was 2 amps and the APple store also says the iPad charger is 2 amps (10 watts)
Apple iPad 10W USB Power Adapter

The iPhone uses a 5 volt .5 amp charger. The iPad uses a 5 volt 1.2 amp charger. The iPhone charger will work, but it will not charge and allow you to use the device at the same time. It would work like a trickle charger on your car. It will get there, but it's going to take a lot longer.

  • Car charger & FM transmitter

Could anyone suggest a car charger and fm transmitter that works well for the iphone 3gs?
    thanks

I've been told that NO FM transmitter really works worth a darn. I know I tried using one with the kids' Zunes a while back and just figured it didn't work well because it was cheap. I've been told here though that there really are no good ones. The best thing is to have your car stereo wired to connect with your iphone.
Car charger.... I have the one purchased from AT&T just because I am leary about leaving my phone charging unattended to an aftermarket charger.

  • Simple car charger with line out?

Why do all companies that make iPhone car charges have to complicate things with wireless controllers or controllers built onto the face of the cigarette charger?
I am looking for a iPhone compatible car charger with a line out port on the plug end. Has any one seen anything like this?

I know what you mean. I just purchased one of these http://www.meritline.com/car-charger-data-cable-audio-cable-for-iphone-ipod---p- 38210.aspx . It hasn't come yet, so I don't know if/how well it works, but I'm hoping it solves the problem I'm having with getting speakerphone over my car speakers.

  • My iphone won't charge and won't play music anymore. I have tried reseting it and switching it off. Have tried 3 different chargeres and even a car charger. Does anyone know what could be wrong and how I can fix it?

I have an iPhone 4 not quite 2 years old. 2 nights ago my iPhone was on its charger and it kept vibrating as if it was being disconnected and re-connected from the charger. When I looked at it had an "error" message but now I don't know what that was as it was 3am and I was half asleep. I just diconnected the charger and the battery read fully charged.
The my volume wouldn't go up or down. The box with "ringer" in it came up but no bars at the bottom to show the volume is increasing or decreasing. It would not play music out of the speakers either even though the screen showed it was playing and it would not work in our dock/speaker unless I used bluetooth and even then, if we touched the volume button on the dock it would switch off.
I tried a "hard" reset 3 times and tried switching it off and on 3 times with no success.
I tried 3 different chargers including a car charger, plus the speaker dock with no success.
It is now out of battery and I cannot charge it.
The iPhone also would not back anything up prior to the battery going flat.
I just need to know if it is fixable or do I need to start looking for a new phone?

  • Iphone 6 compatibility with belkin car charges and cables

    Hey
upon reading stories of certain car charges not working with the iphone 6 i want to find out if either of these 2 car charges and cables from belkin will charge my iphone 6.
In theory the 12v 2.4amp charger should charge my phone up faster than the rest however the iphone 6 is not listed in compatible devices, strangely neither is it listed on the 10w 2.1amp version of this product.
Am i missing some sort of trick here? the only thing i can think of is that the iphone 6 has a list of compatible devices or (certified) and will not allow connection with either of these belkin devices.
    here is the 12v 2.4 charger http://www.belkin.com/uk/F8J121-Belkin/p/P-F8J121/
    Here is the 10w 2.1amp charger http://www.belkin.com/uk/F8J078/p/P-F8J078/
What exactly is the problem with using either of these? isnt it the same lightening connection as the iphone 5?

Belkin probably just hasn't updated the page yet. Give them a call or contact their customer support. Note that the maximum current an iPhone will draw from a USB adapter is 1 amp (5 watts) whether the adapter can supply 1 amp, 2 amps, or 100 amps. So it won't charge any faster than a 1 amp adapter. An iPad can use up to 2.1 amps.

  • Can I use my standard car charger i got for iphone 4 with iPhone 5? if I just plug in the usb to lightning cable or will it damage the new iphone?

The charger takes a usb cable, so I figure I could just plug in my usb to lightning cable and charge using my Saitek charger.  Does anyone know if this works?

Did you get this to work?  Mine did not work when I plugged it into my at&t iphone car charger usb port.

  • My Belkin car charger is no longer supported by my iphone 5. It was bought from the Apple store. Is there a solution from Apple?

The Belkin car charger I purchased a year ago from the Apple store and has worked fine until recently  is no longer supported and will not charge my  iphone 5 it seems since IOs7 came in.  Is there a solution other than to have to buy a new one?

are you talking about a song or a ringtone?
either way, if its still on itunes you can just sync it back to your iphone.
