Iphone 5 in recovery mode while trying to upgrade to v 7.1.2 over wifi

I tried to update my Iphone 5 software over wifi.
On doing so the phone went into recovery mode after showing just 30% download on the bar and has been stuck the same way for past 2 hours.
What can I do to make it work again?

You should put it in real recovery mode, it's seems, it's not the case.
Here is a link http://www.netchimp.co.uk/webdesign/iphone-ipad-ipod-touch-tips/unlock-iphone-fo rgot-passcode-synced-itunes/
The procedure is normaly to hold on power and home button while plugged to your computer. (Section 2 of the link)

  • IPhone 4S stuck in recovery mode while trying to upgrade to iOS 7.0.4

I ran into the issues with my iPhone 4S while trying to upgrade it it iOS 7.0.4 OTA and I have tried everything I can to recover it but no luck. I have tried different USB ports, different PCs altogether with av tuned off, and finally a MAC Pro this morning. I am stuck and miserable. I did everything that a number of forums have mentioned in terms of switching off anti-virus, clearing off host files, checking windows and mac firewall settings, setting the phone to DFU mode and trying over - you name it.
The error I run into most half way through the upgrade is "Unknown Error (29)". According to Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694), it has to do with anti-virus but last night I spent 2 hours building an image with no av or firewall running and tried and still ran into the error. Even tried "Fix it" from Microsoft to clear off the host file configurations as prescribed.
Any help is welcome. Much needed.

Hi, sorry for my late reply.
FIXED!!!! For me anyway, and I hope for you!
So I tried to update to ios 7 and after downloading the software itunes tried to update my iPad 3. I recieved the error 3004 and was stuck in the "Connect to iTunes" screen and
could not get out of it. Completely annoyed!
But then I remembered something from when I used to fiddle with iphones. I opened a program I had called TinyUmbrella, which can be used to force boot out of recovery mode (the
    "connect to itunes" screen).
My ipad was still connected to itunes and in recovery mode. I opened TinyUmbrella, selected my ipad (which was just shown by the serial number), then clicked "Exit Recovery" and
BAM!!! It immediately kicked my out of the recovery screen and started my ipad back up to my home screen.
Now, my ipad was still on 6.1.3 since the update to ios 7 had failed. But I didn't care, my ipad was fully functional again just like I left it before. Thank God for
TinyUmbrella! Here's the CNET link for TinyUmbrella if you need it:

  • IPhone 3G Enters recovery mode when trying to upgrade to 3.0

When I try to upgrade to 3.0, while on the Preparing iPhone for Update screen, the screen on my phone displays the recovery mode image (USB -> iTunes logo). Then an unknown error occurs and it says it cannot upgrade. Now my phone is stuck in recovery mode. Then, my laptop doesn't recognize the iphone (Its a PC) and I have to plug it into another PC with iTunes to restore.
    Ideas?

Crimus, thanks. I took a look. My Touch WAS dead. There must be a ghost out there or the Gods are watching from Olympus. Last night, my Touch started cherping. Has anyone had a cherping iPod Touch; making lil cherping noises. Then all this stuff started flashing on the screen, though the screen is damaged and you can't see what it says. I decided to just plug into my Macbook. I got the "iPod in Recovery, wish to restore?" I tried, but it came back with "Error 2001" several times. I tried one more time, but unplugging the Touch, then plugged back in. Well, I'll be darn, it recovered, and is now restoring back to my backed up iPod files; currently downloading my music library.
I'll have to get a new Touch as this screen is toast. So, my next question is, can I sync my new Touch (I presume I can) to my existing iTunes library/apps, etc. In short, mirror what the existing Touch has? I really need to get to some notes I wrote on my note pad application.

  • IPad 3 stuck in Recovery mode while trying to upgrade

I attempted to upgrade my iPad 3 and received the error message that there was not enough memory. Linked it via USB to iTunes on PC laptop (updated iTunes to latest version). Error message said unable to upgrade the iPad, my only option is to Restore. However, that will erase all my data and settings which I have not backed up. Now I'm stuck. Either restore and lose all or leave iPad as is ... only problem with the latter is that the iPad is stuck in Recovery mode and everything I have tried does not release it. Would appreciate help with this as I now have a non-functioning iPad! Thank you.

  • Iphone went into recovery mode after trying to update to 5.1

I went to upgrade to 5.1 and my iphone went into recovery mode and will not work unless i restore it, if i do this will i lose everything!?

    dfu mode
How to enter iPhone DFU mode
Connect the iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes
Turn the iPhone off (hold down the power button at the top of the iPhone)
Hold down the sleep/power button and home button together for exactly 10 seconds, then release the power button
Continue to hold down the Home button until a message appears in iTunes telling you an iPhone in recover mode has been detected
When you are in DFU mode your iPhone screen will be completely black
Even though the screen is black, that doesn’t mean the device can’t be interfaced with either iTunes or a custom firmware client (for jailbreaking, etc).
Remember that if you see the restore logo, iTunes logo, or any message on the iPhone screen, you are not in DFU mode but standard Recovery Mode. Again, DFU mode is signified by having a completely black screen on the device. If anything else is the case, repeat the steps above until you enter into DFU mode successfully.
    Exit DFU mode on iPhone
The simplest way to exit out of DFU mode is to hold down the Home and sleep/power buttons on the iPhone while connected to iTunes. Then just hit the power button as and this should reboot the device as usual.
And if you’re curious, yes this works all the same on an iPod touch.

Don't know if this will help but when I updated to 4.0.2 my phone gave me an error and bricked.
I made a new user on my computer, installed itunes and then was able to update my phone without it erroring. Once I had a working phone I went back to the old user and updated my phone with all of the information that was there before. I lost a few things but had a working phone.
Since then I have not had a problem with updating it in the old user. You might see if it will help with you all.

  • IPad stuck in recovery mode while trying to update it, can't reset it

I tried to update it, got errors 4 and 14. Tried to restore it, got errors 4005, 11 and 4013. iTunes recognizes the iPad, but iTunes diagnostics doesn't. I also don't see it in Windows (even though Windows installs the drives when I connect the iPad). Apps like iPhone Recovery don't recognize the device.
I would blame it on my cable, but it charges normally and iTunes does recognize it so I'm very confused. What should I do? I already tried a different PC, but unfortunately I don't have a Mac.

sam as mine, stucked at recovery mode

  • HT201210 My iphone is in recovery mode and it won't open help

I tried to install the new version of iOS via itunes and at the end of the installing it stopped and showed an error massage says "iphone couldnt be stored error (14)" and now my iphone is in recovery mode I tried to open it with DFU mode but it didnt work out HELP

What "new version" of iOS did you attempt to install, exactly?
Here is troubleshooting information specifically for the error 14 you mentioned: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#error14
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

  • Iphone stuck in recovery mode after restoring

Ok, so I was having the "searching..." signal for a long time, and then I decided to restore, after the restoration was done the iphone entered into recovery mode, i tried restoring again many times with no success, itunes keeps giving me an error (-1). The iphone is not jailbroken.

i really dont know what can cause it... best guess, somehow the iOS is not being saved correctly on the device...
