in my iphone 4, wifi is connected but internet is not running. when i usd safari and other internet application it alwasys says wifi is not connected. why ? what happen to my iphone?

Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset network connections.
Other basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, and restore.

  • Iphone's wifi is limited to internet sharing

I have a Macbook Pro (Lion) and I shared my internet connection from there so that I can use iphone through wifi which was all good but recently switching to new PPPoE connection has limited my internet use through my iphone. For example, my apps can't acces to internet or can't log in to Facebook (saying safari could not open the page  because the server stopped responding) but yet I can see google search results through iphone's safari.
And for the record, now i have to choose the option of "PPPOE" from internet sharing other than Ethernet, because that way iphone would not even detect any connection but previously I used to get all the features by choosing Ethernet.
Basically, it all started because of new PPPoE line for which I had to create one account but previously my laptop has access to internet by automatic action.
So, is there any way of changing configuaration would enable all the internet features using iphone wifi.(Not having problem with cellular data).
    Thanks!!!

check whether you have set up your wifi settings correctly.(i mean 'servers' and login credentials ).

  • Can I use an IPhone's wifi or 3G to log an iPad on to the Internet.  Would like to stop paying 25.00 for my 3G service if I can hook up to my IPhonr

I use an Iphone's wifi or 3G to log an IPad onto the Internet instead of using the IPad 3G 25.00 per month fee.  I already pay 45.00 for data on IPhonr

Yes, you can tether the iPad to the iPhone (it's extra).
You would not need a 3G iPad as it uses wifi to thether to the iPhone.

  • My wifi bars are full but my iPhone internet is very slow

my wifi bars are full but my iPhone internet is very slow

Just wrote moment ago both of my iphone5 having similar issues running under iOS7.1.1....

  • HT2208 i dont have wifi at home can i somehow use my iphone internet ??

I do not have the option of wifi at hoem.. i have a turbo stick on my laptop.  Can i use my iphone internet as an option in order touse apple tv?

It's a bad idea.  First off you do not have unlimited data if you read the fine print.  Doing streaming video is almsot guarentied to be a banded use of the service.  Secondly even if it is allowed, and you have the tethering feature enabled (which is NEVER sold with unlimited data by the way) And you get ATV to accept that as an internet connection it is going to be EXTREMELY slow and error proone.  You will probably need to completely download any show or movie you want to watch first, and I doubt you will get streaming services like Hule or Netflix to work at all.

  • Iphone dropping wifi then reconnects while on skype or viber but not netflix

while on call in skype or viber at home, my iphone 4 would drop the VOIP call, wifi icon immediately switches back to 3G then after 2 seconds switches back to wifi again(I never have to go connect again manually, it always comes back by itself).  All happens without any intervention, and once the wifi icon comes back i can dial skype call again.  This could happen 3 or 4 times on a 30 mins skype/viber call.
I have a 1st gen 3G iPad as well and I use it to watch movies on netflix, it has never dropped the wifi like that even after watching movies for more than an hour.  Its just very strange. I've search around the internet and people who have iphone wifi drop problems always have to go reconnect to wifi manually or restart the phone to connect, which is not my case.  I've also tried resetting the network settings on the iphone, didn't help.
I have 2 PCs, a Macbook pro, and a PS3, all using the same wifi connection, and like the ipad none of them have any problems with the wifi at all (not all connected a the same time, i usually have the MBP and the 2 iOS devices connected at all times). And for the iPhone, the wifi drop seems to isolate to Skype and Viber calls only.  Anyone have any idea how to fix this? by the way, i have never tried VOIP call on other wifi networks other than my house, so I don't know if this is because something is wrong with my equipment at home.  VOIP call on 3G network when wifi is not available doesn't have any problem.
I have a AT&T iphone4 on 4.3.2, wifi is through a Linksys router (g i think), I'm also using an AT&T microcell that 70% of the time doesn't even show up on my iphone.  Thanks!

I have the same issue with my Iphone4, never had this with my Iphone 3gs.  I have tried a different router (I have a d-link and a netgear) and no difference.  I read on another forum that bluetooth might interfere.  Yesterday I ran a test and after I turn bluetooth off I did not have any dropped Skype calls.  before this my Skype call would drop or I would have a really bad connection about 8min or so into the call.  I think this is because the iphone will start up bluetooth and it interferes with wifi.  I am not 100% sure this cures the problem but it might.
    Marcel.

  • Iphone 5 wifi not stable/wifi range issues

I know there are loads of discussions but every discussion that I went through seemed without any solution.
I have just bought a new iphone 5 considering that my iphone 4 broke down.  With the iphone 4 I have never had any wifi instability even on the latest ios 6.1.4
I noticed that when I'm near my home router wifi stability is better.  My home router  has the 5ghz signal too.  When I'm near another 2.4ghz router, and with near I mean 1.5 metres the wifi signal keeps changing from 2 to 3.  I noticed that it seems to have a shorter range as well.
Is there something that can be done?  Now I'm feeling more of an idiot.  I should have waited for the new iphone but couldn't wait and I didn't know that the internet is filled to the brim with iphone 5 wifi issues.
    PLEASE HELP
PS  I did a hard reset, removed a plastic cover but none of this helped.

    Hey MGV1,
Thanks for the question and detailed information. There are definitely a lot of factors that come into play when troubleshooting Wi-Fi signal strength, one of which is interference:
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1365
iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
All in all, there are a bunch of factors that can impact network performance and range (2.4GHz vs. 5GHz, standards like 802.11n vs. 802.11ac). It may be best to consult with your ISP or network administrator, or look into extending the range of your network:
Wi-Fi base stations: Extending the range of your wireless network by adding additional Wi-Fi base stations
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4145
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • IPhone 3G WiFi Dropping, Signal Stength Still High, Extreme and DHCP?

I've been having problems with my iPhone 3G WiFi (I had the same with my First Gen iPhone too), where it lost the ability to connect to the Internet, although the WiFi connection was still active and showing full signal.
A reset of the Extreme and a various combination of resetting network settings / forgetting network / renewing DHCP Lease etc on the iPhone normally gets it going again, but not something you want to do every 30 minutes !
My Extreme is connected to a NetGear DG824M ADSL Wireless router, that I used before I had the Extreme (bought for a longer range and the 'n' spec so quicker wi-fi moving files around in the house, to Apple TV etc).
The NetGear's Wi-Fi is off, and the Extreme is working in Bridge Mode. I can get Internet connectivity with all devices with either the NetGear DHCP option on or off. I've tried tying DHCP addresses to the respective Mac addresses.
I've read elsewhere that the Extreme should be serving DHCP for the rid the iPhone of this issue, but cannot set this up. I must admit to being a bit confused over the basics here.
My ADSL Connection is with BT, and therefore I believe PPPoA (?) which requires a username / password.
Any help in setting this up, and indeed if this could even be the issue with the iPhone dropping much appreciated. I've searched every forum posting here on on each Mac site for months without any joy !
    Thanks

If the problem appears to be isolated to only your AirPort Extreme, in other words it doesn't happen while connected to other Wi-Fi networks, a "hard reset" is justified:
To "hard reset" an AirPort Base Station: make sure it's powered up, then gently press and hold its tiny reset button. Don't apply any more force than required to feel a tactile click. Keep it depressed for five to ten seconds, long enough for its LED to flash amber rapidly. Release the reset button. Then, the LED will glow amber steadily for about a minute. Then, it will flash amber, slowly, about once every second or two, waiting for you to configure it with AirPort Utility.

  • Connecting iphone internet to laptop

hey guys i have wifi internet connection on my iphone 3gs so i need to share internet to laptop so wat i want to do.......help plzzzz urgent...If u didt understand my question ask me

    wifi internet connection on iphone!
why you want it to share with the a laptop through iphone?
    Access wifi directly through laptop.
If your laptop dont support wifi connectivity
then it may not be possible to connect through iphone's wifi.
although some of the wifi connectivity is available through itunes such as 'REMOTE'
application and many other that work with itunes for data storage etc.
but sharing of wifi internet through iphone with a non wifi laptop through usb cable u need application software for that. search on App Store for same.

  • Standard o2 sim in iphone in wifi cloud hotspot

I have a question about using my iphone in wifi areas!
i bought an iphone on pay as u go, then shoved my standard non iphone sim in the phone. all is working great. however, i wanted to make use of the unlimited wifi access that i got with my iphone's pay as u go sim that was purchased with the phone.
just in case you dont know what im on about... wifi hot spots are where people have set up pay as u go wireless internet (in train stations, airports, cafes, bars etc) when you buy an iphone you get unlimited access to these wifi hot spots.
when you try and open a web page on your iphone while using the wifi hot spot, a webpage will be shown asking you to give your o2 number. Obviously only the O2 number that was purchased with my iphone will allowed me unlimited free access to the wifi hotspot.
If i enter the O2 number that was purchased with my iphone, whilst using my standard O2 sim in the phone, will this work?
(entering an iphone number that i dont use while using a different number)

The iPhone's unlimited data plan is unique to and can be used with the iPhone only.
You can use your iPhone's SIM card with another carrier locked phone - for your iPhone's carrier, or with an unlocked phone. Any calls placed or received are included with your chosen calling plan regardless which other phone you use with your iPhone's SIM card, and the same should apply to SMS, but I'm not sure.
If you access any data - using a browser on another phone, or exchanging email with an email client on another phone when using your iPhone's SIM card with that phone, this will be (or should be) an additional charge for the amount of data downloaded and uploaded.
This may be different with O2, so I would confirm this with O2.

  • AirPort Express for iPhone Internet connection

I recently had cable installed in our shop for phone and Internet usage. We haven’t yet purchased a computer for the location, but I do have an AirPort Express that I purchased for use in my home (but have not set up at home yet). I also have an iPhone. Is there a way to use the AirPort Express with the cable Internet connection in our shop so that I can go online with my iPhone? (just FYI, I cannot connect with the internet at our shop with my iPhone over the AT&T network as there is no signal available in the area).
    Thanks!

Well, I don’t seem to be getting too far with this set up at home. I’ve tried plugging my cable modem at home into the AX, then opened Airport Utility on my iMac, but all it says is “Airport Utility was unable to find any Apple wireless devices”. I’ve tried unplugging and re-plugging in the AX to the electric power. Also tried the reset button on the AX.
I then tried turning on WiFi on my iPhone and the AX shows up as “Apple Network” followed by the AirPort ID number. I then plugged the ethernet plug from my cable modem back into the AX and I can connect with my iPhone via WiFi to my cable modem and go online. No set up at all, which is what I wanted to do in the first place, except when I tried this with the new modem in the shop, the iPhone “sees” and selects the AX, but there is no connection to the internet.
So now I’m stuck with two dilemmas. I can’t get my iMac at home to “see” the AX, and I can’t get the AX to connect to the Internet with the modem at the shop. ???
Oh, and the modem in the shop is a "Scientific Atlanta 2203" and is for both cable telephone connection and RR cable Internet connection.

  • IMessage in my iPhone 4 stopped working over 3G and now its only working when i connect my iPhone to Wifi!!! please help

as mentioned in the subject. i was enjoying sending msgs using iMessage using 3G internet connection but since yesterday my iMessage stopped working and now its only working when i connect my iPhone to Wifi !!!
without WiFi it show my Message Not Delivered in Red !!
and this issue not only with me.. even with my freind. so please help to find a solution

I know why. It happened to me before. Try typing random stuff, eg aaasjddjfndirinfekdnkedindor , into the text box, then delete everything using the x-arrow on the keyboard. It should work now. If not, repeat the process again and again. It's because it needs to send the signal to the other recipient(without him really knowing it, this is to check that he can see when you are typing, you know, the "…" bubble), then check that you have 3G at good speed, then enables iMessage. It works for me this way...hope it does for you too (:

  • Setting up IMac over Ethernet to use IPhone via WIFI

I have just stopped using a wireless router via Airport. I now use the Homeplug AV adapter system via Ethernet. I have internet no problem, but now have no network that will enable me to connect my IPhone via WIF to the internet through my IMac. Can someone please help?

Duane, not being a dumb taquito, I try not to post something of which I know nothing about. However, that still manages to occur occasionally! When the OP asked for help, I knew nothing about his issue. I had never shared an internet connection wirelessly. But in my mind I thought that this indeed should be possible with a Mac with an AirPort card. I experimented.
Not having an iPhone or an iPod Touch I used my iMac and my Mac mini. They are in rooms on opposite ends of my apartment. I set up a wireless airport network from my Mac mini to share its ethernet internet connection wirelessly with the iMac. I did it exactly as I shared with the OP. It took all of 3 minutes, start to finish. Then I walked to the other end of the apartment and connected the iMac to this wireless network and was surfing the internet from the Mac mini's ethernet connection in all of 30 seconds. It was a secure wireless connection.
I have now followed your instructions. They also worked flawlessly and because they were now familiar steps took barely two minutes to set up, walk, connect and surf. The results are identical!
However, if the OP only had your instructions to follow and did not encounter an AirPort service in Sys Prefs>Sharing, they would have been up the proverbial +cala de la mierda+, without a paddle.

  • Iphone 3g - WiFi problem, upgrade possibility?

    Hi guys
I recently updated my 3g to iOS4 and 4.0.1. After sometime of usage my wi-fi become really weak and by the time I lost completely signal of that. I tried everything from software side, by downgrading resetting and all of this tricks without any luck. My wifi icon inside settings is not yet gray but I expect it to become after some time. I lost completely usage of the phone because accessing network was on of the main use of the phone.
I went to genius bar in order to get it fixed but surprisingly I found out that they refused to change anything. They said that the only thing that they repair is the screen otherwise they change the phone for 269CHF. That's completely crazy because I asked also for my silent switch to be changed and they refused!!!!!
Then I though about changing the antenna on my own, so I bought a spare part from the internet which didn't improve the situation at all. I guess my wifi-bluetooth chip is broken and I am not willing to replace it..
I don't know how to complain on that. I am a mac developer since 5 years and really addicted to their products but now it's they first time that I hate this situation and how apple is handling this. I know that are posts of iphone 3g users (more than 400 replies) complaining about this and in parallel apple seems not to care at all for this.. I already submitted feedback for this.
So since my option is only to change my phone does anyone knows that instead of paying some money to get a new 3g is there any option available to exchange it with some additional cost with an 3gs or 4? I don't want to get a 3g and have the same problems after some days...!!!!!
    And Apple DO SOMETHING!!!!!
    Thanks

IF the problem is hardware there is a fix http://www.iphonetiquicia.com/repair-iphone-3g-wifi-oven/
Micro-fissures cause the overheating you're talking about. So before you pay for your full replacement you may as well try the fix. I did it on mine and it worked. Even runs cooler now because the reflow fixed the high resistance caused by the micro-fissures in the solder joints.
