Iphone 5, ios 6.1.3 ..incorrect wifi password.

Hey, I am using Iphone 5, ios 6.1.3 ...and since the update my phone seems to think i have an incorrect Wifi password and this happens on a random. i have tried rebooting, resetting network setting, factory reset etc..i am able to connect sometimes...but then after a while it goes right back at forgetting the pass word...help please.

Try forgetting the network by clicking on this button (the one in the picture). And then try connecting again.
Regards.

    I've tried:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings x 3 times - No joy
    plus
Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings x 4 times and backup or new phone setup via iTunes - Still no joy
One odd thing - lower signal WiFi does internittently become available when my PC that runs iTunes is booted up and logged into my WiFi network???

  • Incorrect wifi passwords

If i enter an incorrect wifi password into my mac, it won't let me input another password. how do i fix this?

    Hi, Troy5.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router can correct the issue that you are experiencing.  However, the issue could be a little more complex.  Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology.  Below, I have included two articles.  The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting regarding iOS device connection.  The second article cover the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.

  • IPhone 6/iOS 8 email issues with wifi connection

    Hi
I have just upgraded from an iPhone 4 (iOS 7) to an iPhone 6 (iOS 8) and am having an issue with my pop email account. I used my iPhone 4 backup to set up new iPhone, so all the settings were as they were in my old phone. I have two email accounts, one is an IMAP account and the other is a POP account (which is my main email), I have no problems connecting to the server and downloading emails when connected via 4G (its super fast), but when I am connected via wifi, the POP account takes ages to connect to the server and check for emails (stuck on checking for email). I can speed up the process by closing mail app completely and reopening, then it checks and downloads really quickly (IMAP account has no problems), but this is frankly a pain.
I have spent ages on the phone with Apple support, who have got me to delete my POP email account twice, reset network settings, reset the phone using on/off button and home button, all to no avail. They are intent on telling me it's my email service providers fault, but as I pointed out there is no issue on 4G and my old iPhone (using iOS 7) on wifi has no issues, so can't be email provider. I have also tried using Apple's wifi in store to rule out router issue and the problem happened there too.
Have now run out of suggestions and options. I'm not sure if it's the phone itself, either a hardware or software issue (Apple support think not). Someone told me that it could be the wifi on my phone blocking the connection to the server. I have an appointment booked at the genius brand they have suggested wiping the phone and setting up as a new phone to see if the problem occurs, but this seems a bit drastic and I would lose all messages etc. Any help would be appreciated.

I have solved the issue! I tried my pop account on other devices with iOS 8 and the same thing happened, so I deduced that the issue is a glitch in iOS 8 with wifi and pop accounts. I managed to get hold of the IMAP settings for my email provider and all seems to be well. Happy days!

  • IPhone with iOS 6.x crashes home wifi

    Hello,
My wife and I upgraded our iPhone 4ses to iOS 6 in December. Since then, our phones have not played well with our wifi network, whereas before it--and they--were completely stable.
The router is a Linksys E3200. The phones of course are on the 2.4Ghz network. The issue is that when we sign onto wifi with either of our iPhones, one of two things happens:
    1) Wifi crashes right away; the network is still visible and broadcasting an SSID, but not transmitting any data.
    2) Wifi works fine (using Airplay, etc., with the phones), but then crashes the NEXT time we try to sign onto wifi with the phones, in the same way as described in point (1).
The router's firmware is completely up to date. Updating iOS to 6.1 has not solved the issue. Various other suggestions laid out elsewhere in these forums for similar issues--for instance, resetting network settings, changing the proxy setting to auto, and so on--have not helped. Meanwhile, every other device in our house, including the latest AppleTV, a 2009 Macbook, an XBox 360 and an HP Windows laptop, can get on the network without creating any problems.
Meanwhile, my iPhone seems to work without any problems on my office network. This leads me to believe that something in iOS 6 is not playing well with my router settings here at home. I'd love any insight or solutions.
    Help!

I have tried everything short of deleting the app and re-installing it
What have you tried already? It would be of no use to suggest anything that you already tried.
Usually resetting GarageBand in the Settings.app will reset it, so that it does not open the most recent song on start up.
But if the problem is not the last song, but a problem downloading from iCloud, you could try to lauch GarageBand with the Wifi turned off. If you get GB to launch this way, you can try to share all your projects to iTunes and to sync them to your computer. After you have saved them to your Computer, you can reinstall GarageBand.
    Regards

  • TS1398 My iPhone 5c keeps telling me that my WIFI password is incorrect.

I've recently upgraded to the iPhone 5c on the first day after syncing my old iPhone details my wifi connected the same as it always did, but now it's telling me that my wifi password is wrong when it isn't. When I turn on my old iPhone 4S it works perfectly fine with the wifi, the same as my laptop and personal computer. I've tried resetting, turning it on and off, turning wifi off and cellular data, I've gone through my whole settings list, I've restored it, I've triple + checked my router password and made sure it's changed, it's fine connecting to my partners wifi and still remembers his password, just not my home. I've exhausted all avenues. Please help.

Try to take a look at the top right corner on iTunes. Does it say "Sign In" or "Apple ID" like [email protected]

  • My iPad Mini keeps saying "incorrect wifi password"

So just recently my ipad had dissconnected itself from our internet, i had attempted to re enter our regular wifi password which is about thirty numbers long, and it said incorrect, i figured sicne it was so long i mistyped something. so i typed it in another 10 or so times, no change. i later called apple which got me no where because appearently you now have to pay for phone sevices which is absouloutly ludacris. And seeing as our closest apple stores are in Detroit, or London, my parents cant just go take me whenever.
So anyways, i have googled every possible thing i can, and i still havent found any troublshooting things that work. Soft resets, and resseting network settings didnt help either. We thought it may have been our router, but yesterday i hd gotten a new phone which had no problems at all connecting to our internet, as well as my sister who had forgotten and reconected to our internet with out a problem too, i have tried updating to the latest ios but my itunes wont let me do it through the computer, and seeing as i have no wifi on my ipad i cant do it that way either.
So now im trying all i can to try and get it to update. I dont really want to restore because if i do and it doesnt fix anything, im stuck with an ipad that is basically usless because i cant download apps without wifi. And i have tried the whole turning on and off your router sequence many times and it hasnt worked.
So is there any way that i can fix this without restoring or going to apple? Restoring is my last resort.

Even though other devices can connect, it may still be worth resetting the router. Does it connect to other Wi-Fi networks?
If that doesn't work, you've done all the basic troubleshooting, so it's time for a restore.
If that doesn't work, you may have a hardware issue.

  • May have a solution to incorrect wifi passwords

Some people may be having problems not being able to connect to their wifi. Some say incorrect passwords, cannot join network etc ...
This may just work, it worked for me.
Go to Setting > Wifi > Other >
Click On Security > And your router security type, then on Password type your routers wifi password.
    Hopefully it works for you.

    Btw, I have iPhone4s 16gb.

  • IPhone 6 won't connect to home WiFi - Password Incorrect!

So, I got my brand new iPhone 6 yesterday.. Everything seems to work fine, except for internet connection..
Every time I attempt to connect, it rejects me, and tells me that the password is incorrect.
I also, can't really reach the the network by walking only 10 meters away.. I really have to stand right next to the router to get a chance.
I've tried reseting my phone completely, and it still doesn't work.
I can easily connect at school, that why I really can't decide if it's a hardware issue, or if it's my home network.
I just don't get it... Because we're a lot of users at home, we got tons of devices connected to the specific network. And its working impeccable.
So my question is.... Does this have something to do with iOS 8 and it's wellknown bugs, or do I have to get my iPhone replaced?

I just tried this and it worked, hopefully it works for you too, I have spent the last 3 hours trying to figure this out and nothing worked, I tried rebooting both my phone and the router, turning the airplane mode, etc etc I even took the password requirement off my router and still it would say "unable to join network"
All along it was my router and not my phone.
The routers have a list of allowed devices, called MAC filtering addresses, I had to manually add my phone's address and that fixed the "incorrect password issue"
I went to General > About > Wi-Fi address (copy that long number/letters thing) then log into your router and access the MAC filtering allowed devices list and enter that address in there and save it, that indicates to your router that your phone is allowed to access the network.
As soon as my husband added that address I tried entering the network password on my phone and finally it connected
    Good luck!

  • Wireless sync option not available on Itunes 10.5.  After updating my iphone to IOS 5, the "sync over wifi" option is not being displayed in itunes.

hi, I managed to update both Itunes and my ios to the latest versions (10.5 and 5 respectively).  I'm unable to see the "Sync over wifi" option in itunes.  Can anyone help?

Maybe that's why I got lucky?  I have 10.7.2.  I have to tell you howeer that I did not check any check box in settings on the Notebook to enable Wifi sync, or in iTunes on the notebook.  I did have options when setting up the iPad and I selected sync with computer rather than back up to cloud.   Maybe that is another difference?  I feel feel fortunate that as I type this my iPad is syncing over wifi and you're all having trouble.
Just to confirm I have iTunes 10.5  MacOSX 10.7.2 and iOS5 installed on the iPad.  I'm going to dive in and do the phone now too.  I will report any troubles, or pay more careful attention when the iCloud settings and set up come on the screen.  Maybe I did something else I don't remember.

  • IPhone 4S - iOS 6 - can't see WiFi networks

I have a strange problem with my iPhone. It's a locked iPhone, bought from Vodafone from my country. I use it locked and un-jailbreaked. I went in France for 2 weeks where i had my Roaming active, but i didn't used cellular data, only WiFi. Now, back home in my country, it seems that i can't see wireless networks. I tried to reinstall, update to the last firmware, it seems that wireless appear for 1 second when at first start, then it disappears and i can't see no more WiFi networks in list, tho there are like 10 networks around me.
Any ideas? Or someone else had the same issue?
    Thanks,
    Nick

i went to Vodafone. They said they will replace it. It seems like a manufacturing defect.

  • Updating iphone to IOS 5 it asks for a password to 'unlock itunes backup file' - none of my passwords work! help!

I'm trying to reset my iphone to the new software, but its asking me for a 'password' to unlock itunes backup file. my apple ID or computer login wont work.
    any ideas?

In settings for Airplay on AppleTV a password can be set to stop people using Airplay.
    Check if somone's set that.

  • My iPhone 4s (iOS 6) sometimes asks for my password when none is needed.

Cancel works and does not ask again.

General browsing on Safari (not a site where a password is needed). Phone asks for password. Hit cancel, all is good & does not ask again. Another site on Safari, left blank & hit OK. Did not ask again. Latest, after turning on phone and entering passcode to use phone (phone lock passcode needed through all of this), it then (right away) asked for password, twice and responded like above, then said I did not enter proper password and offered a reset option. Hit cancel and did not ask again. I did have a pending text message (not in other cases), but read it after canceling password ask. So far, inconsistent requirement for password.

  • Upgraded to iPhone 6, cannot get into iCloud. "The password you entered is incorrect" even though I used the same Apple ID and password that I used to log into this session.  My wife has the same issue with her iPhone 6 as well.

iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1.2) My wife and I were able to log into iCloud when we bought and activated the phones.  In the last 2 days, we have not been able to do so.  Have reset the password 3 times.  Can get into iTunes and iCloud via MacBook Pro.  Every attempt to log in via iPhone we get a message saying the password is incorrect.  I noticed someone else had a similar problem about 1 hour ago.  Apple support's answer did not fix the problem for them.

have you managed to fix that? i'm facing the same issue on iPhone 6 (8.1.3)

  • IPhone constantly asking for WiFi passwords when SSID is known

I recently got a new iPhone 6 and whenever I'm out somewhere in town I get random prompts  "incorrect WiFi password" all the time. This didn't happen on my old 4S that was still running running iOS 7.
So I narrowed this problem down: This happens when some random WiFi network is nearby that just happens to have an SSID name that matches a different network that I previously connected to. Because a lot of people leave the default names like "AndroidAP", this soon becomes annoying as ****.
Now, the password prompt probably makes sense from a technical point of view. Probably it cannot tell WiFis with identical SSIDs apart, right?? But it's so persistent, it annoys the **** out of me. Obviously iOS 7 had a way of "failing silently" - the WiFi password at my work changes every week and yet I never got  this message on my old phone. It just would not connect and let you re-enter the password by going into WiFi settings.
Anyone know how to get the old behavior back?

I had the same problem and what I did was to ask a friend to activate his AndroidAP network, let me log in with his password and after being connected I went to Wi-Fi Settings of that network ("AndroidAP") and choose "Forget this Network". It takes a bit of trouble for doing this (and someone able to create a network with the name "AndroidAP", but at least my movies won't be interrupted again when I'm travelling on the bus through the city. Please Apple, allow users to ignore SSIDs without needing to be logged in
