Iphone 5 ios 6.1.4 edit home screen keep prompting.

My iphone 5 started prompting edit home screen ocassionally. I have to keep pressing the dismiss button. I will like to know why is this message keep appearing and what can i do to stop it.
My iphone encountered missing battery percentage indicator recently without touching any setting on the phone. i went into the setting to activate it. Once i activated it, this is the first time the edit home screen message appear. Now and then, the edit home screen message will appear ocassionally when i unlock my iphone from the lock screen. Sometime i cant even press the answer call when the phone is in lock screen mode.
Kindly give me some advices or solution to this. Thanks

I did not jail break my iphone.
This is a sample of the message that keep popping up as and when.

  • Does the iPhone 4 on iOS 7 have the shifting home screen?

So I don't consider myself a newbe in any way as far as iPhone's go. I have studied and know more then most of the apple guys. But I did notice that iOS 7 has a shifting home screen in the background when you shake the phone. And my iPhone 4 isn't doing that. Its compass seems to work so it doesn't seem like the hardware is off. I am just not sure if the iPhone 4 has the ability on iOS 7 to do that. The other day I spend over an hour scorning the internet for the answer but I could not find either a yes or a no answer. I have already gone into settings and made sure the reduce motion was off in the Accessibility section. when its on the folders and apps don't bounce into the screen. but nothing else changes because there is no shifting home screen. I would just like to know if the iPhone 4 has that capability on iOS 7 like the others do. if not which devices don't. If any one knows let me know. I am not as familiar with the newer iOS systems as I am with the old ones.

Disable Reduce Motion - if that's turned on you won't see the background "move"

    Hi Michellem_14,
Have you reset or restarted your iPhone since the update?
Hold down the home button and the power button until you see an Apple logo
Release both buttons and the iPhone will restart.

  • Stuck at "Edit Home Screen"

Just bought a new 3G iphone, once I got done setting it up in itunes it came up with a screen that says "Edit Home Screen" and I can't get it to go away. Any ideas?

Did you ever figure out how to solve this problem? I am now having the same problem. My iPhone is completely unusable as whenever I start up it goes to this screen, with a "dismiss" button that doesn't do anything. I have tried all of the troubleshooting tips, but nothing works.

  • Edit Home Screen .....  Dismiss button is stuck on my screen

I just upgraded my 3G phone to 2.1.
Since I have upgraded, I have not been able to use my phone at all. I have a window displayed on my phone.
    Edit Home Screen
To rearrange icons, touch and hold any icon until it starts to wiggle, then drag icons to desired locations. Drag an incon to the far right to create additional Home screens. Press the Home button when done.
    Dismiss
I can not press the Dismiss button to close the window. Nothing happens when I press the Dismiss button. It doesn't look like it recognizes that I am touching the screen at all. I can't do anything with the phone until I get rid of this missage

Try a reset - press and hold the sleep/wake and home buttons for ~10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo (ignore the slide to power off prompt).

  • Hi, my iphone 4 home screen keeps flashing on and off repeatedly. if I'm using my phone or in an app it will just go black then light up to the home screen and it does this over and over. Then the power off option will pop up. what should i do

Hi my iphone 4 home screen keeps flashing on and off repeatdly. I will beonmy phone or in an app and it will go to a black screen and then light up to the home screen. Then the power off option will pop up. I have tried letting it die and recharging it and powering it off neither worked. Does any one have an idea on what this could be or what I can do?

If the Slide to Power Off option is coming up, that suggests your power button isn't working correctly and is sticking.
Best thing to do is bring the phone to an Apple store (make an appointment first) and have a Genius take a look at it.

  • My email on my iPhone 4 doesn't notify me of a new email until I actually go into my mail. My wife's iPhone 4 shows her on the home screen with a red number on the icon. Why is this?

You don't have push enabled.   Go into your settings and enable it, however many people will want to advise you that doing so will reduce your battery life.

  • Just restored my iPad, now the start up Apple on home screen keeps coming up.  Cannot turn iPad off.  How do I get this to stop and use my iPad again?

Just restored my iPad, today.  Now the start up Apple sign on the home screen keeps popping up.  Cannot seem to turn off the iPad, either.  How do I get this to stop, so I can use my iPad again..

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • My Droid Razr M home screen keeps crashing after the update.  Can it be reversed?

My Droid RAZR M is now a paperweight.  The home screen keeps crashing.  I'm forced to access anything by sliding down the main screen and going to the new settings area, which I discovered.  I tried forcing the app to stop, but that didn't do anything.  I cleared the cache, disabled it - nothing.  I HATE THIS!  I want to make it go away.  Is there anything short of resetting the phone that can UN-update the update?
Oh, and also, now my texts are Google talk - ugh.  double ugh.
    Frustrated here.

Not even factory reset will roll back the update. My issue was a loss of the ability to connect to WiFi anytime after about 20 minutes after reboot.
The only thing I can suggest is to call tech support and let them walk you through a couple of routines and then they can send out a replacement phone. (It's what I had to do.) My issue is that the replacement is running 4.1.2 and now  my FitBit won't work with it. I wish I did not upgrade from 4.2. (Maybe another release?)

  • IPod Touch 2gen iOS 4 Can't change home screen wallpaper

I just updated my iPod Touch 2 generation to iOS 4 and I was excited about changing the home screen wallpaper, but when i went to change it, that option wasn't there. Is there some reason this feature is not available on the iPod Touch (or mine at least)? I am confused and disappointed..

You never could change the background... At least, I never could!
You can change the picture for the "home" screen, unless I'm mistaken. This is the screen you see when you click on the iPod waking it from stand-by. You'll see the "slide to unlock" slider, and your image in the background, but that's it!
Now, here's the "thing"... Granted, I've not been using it for a couple of months, so correct me if I'm wrong. Behind all the icons, the background had the typical "space" image. Dark, with red gassy clusters and stars... The same default image from OS X. Or, maybe I'm going crazy, and it's always been solid black.
After I ran the update, I did the same thing as everyone else... Tried to set my background, only to find it isn't supported on the 2g. I was surprised to find it solid black though. Were did my star picture go?
So, please let me know if I'm imagining the old starry background was there, or if the update has sucked it away to blackness.
(Otherwise, folders are good... That is all.)

  • My iphone 4 has starting dumping to home screen.

It started with contacts, now its doing it in settings. I tap the contacts button in phone and it dumps back to the home screen. I'm also having trouble with icloud. I can't sync the iphone calendar with my new ipad 2. I tried the suggestions on this site but when I went into "mail, contacts calendars" in settings it dumped me back to the home screen. Any suggestions?

If you have tried resetting the router by powering the router off followed by powering the modem off for 5 minutes and then power the modem on allow the modem to reset before powering the router back on with no change, go to Settings > General > Reset and select Reset Network Settings. This will erase all saved wi-fi networks from your iPhone and require re-joining every wi-fi network your iPhone has access to when returning within range of such a network.

  • My IPhone 3G will not load the home screen...

    Hi
I am having an issue with my phone. I can't get the home screen to load. I get the Apple Logo screen then it disappears and I get the black screen with a spinning beachball/gear ( like it's trying to load). A couple of days ago I had my phone in my bedroom on my night stand, charging. One of my schnauzers in the attempt to get on the bed, got tangled in the cord and pulled it off the stand onto the floor ( about a 2 foot drop ) ::note:: I do have an otter box on the phone. The phone seemed okay until this afternoon. I updated 4 apps and later I picked up my phone to call my husband and I had the spinning gear screen.
After searching and googling a bit I came across some "fixes" One said to hook up to my PC and restore the phone via ITunes. Okay I tried this, at first I got an error saying there was an unknown error. After a few tries the phone started to restore. It comfirmed that my restore was a success and I then began a sync. After the sync had finished I was back to the apple logo screen :/
I tried this fix also ( it's been helpful for others, just not for me )
    1. Connect to iTunes via USB. Do not disconnect for rest of these steps. iTunes may appear frozen or stuck with spinning beachball....this is okay, do not Force Quit iTunes. I tried a few times w/o it being connected to iTunes and it doesn't work.
    2. Once connected, hold Home + Power until screen blinks then Apple logo comes back up.
    3. Wait until Apple logo dims slightly (~5 minutes or less). Do NOT reboot until the apple logo dims.
    4. Hold Home + Power again until it reboots and Apple logo comes back up.
    5. After 2 min or so, the phone may vibrate once or twice. Continue waiting for the full 5 min until Apple logo dims slightly. iTunes at this stage MAY recognize the phone...do not sync or do anything in iTunes.
    6. Hold Home + Power for the 3rd time until it reboots. Phone may vibrate again after 2 minutes or so. Eventually you'll break into your Home screen.
Still, my home screen will not load :/ Any help would be much appreciated. I live in a rural town with no Apple Store. I got my phone from an individual, would they even help me out ( Apple Store)? I'd have to drive about 80 miles round trip to get to an Apple Store. If there's a fix for this, I'd very much appreciate it
    Thanks in Advance,
        Candy

Anyone? C'mom, I know some of you techie type folks know how to fix this!
