IPhone 5 iOS 6 photo crop bug

I am using iOS6 on iPhone 5. Whenever I edit a picture, crop it and save it, it appears to have been cropped. But when I upload them to dropbox or social media, it will still upload the full picture. This is definitely a privacy concern since I obviously don't want others to access the cropped part of the picture.
Can someone please explain?

  • Photo cropping bug in iOS 7

Here's a weird one, and I did a search and didn't find anything on it. I'm wondering if anyone else is noticing this.
I have an iPhone 5 I got back in May, and I'm running the latest version of iOS 7. If I take a photo with the camera app, or if I download a photo and save it to my Camera Roll, and then open it and crop it, it shows as cropped on the phone, but if I upload it to FaceBook, or open it in another image editing app, like Photoshop Express, it's not cropped. This works both ways too; images cropped in PS Express often show up not cropped in the Photos app.
On more than one occasion I had to download the photos to my Mac and crop them in Photoshop or Preview. When I opened them in those the image was not cropped.
Any one else have this problem?

If you edited the photo directly in the camera roll album, the edited photo should have appeared automatically in the camera roll album.
Otherwise you need to press the "share" button and select "Camera Roll":
    See:   http://help.apple.com/iphoto/iphone/2.0/?handbuch#blnka97fbb1f
To switch between viewing the original photo and the edited version, tap .
If you edit a photo in the iPhoto Camera Roll album, the edited photo automatically appears the Camera Roll on your iOS device, at the resolution of your device. If you want a full-resolution version of the edited photo sent to the Camera Roll, tap and tap Camera Roll. The full-resolution photo appears in the Camera Roll, and is transferred to your computer when you sync the Camera Roll with your computer.

  • IOS Photos app bug

I didn't know where to submit this to apple, so hopefully someone reads it.
Since about 2 iOS updates ago, I've noticed a bug in the regular Photos app. When switching back to Albums view after looking at Places, the list of albums will start at the very top of the screen (behind the clock, and app controls) making it impossible to click on the Camera Roll.
You have to go to the App Switched and kill the photos app to get it to work properly again.

Ah, now I see it's a well known problem...
It's been happening since 4.3, have they missed it in the last couple releases?

  • Hallo, after upload my iPad air and my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 (and later Mac to Yosemite, version 10.10), I don't find in my iPad air and in my iPhone 5 photos I can see in iPhoto (version 9.6) on my Mac's Cloud.

hallo, after upload  iPad air and iPhone 5 to iOS 8 (and few days ago Mac to Yosemite, version 10.10), I don't find in my iPad air and in my iPhone 5 photos I can see in iPhoto (version 9.6) on my Mac's Cloud. I tried to add manually from library to iCloud's streaming photo with no result. in iPhoto's events I've 940 photos, in iPhone and iPad about 450. I have in mobile devices only photos taken with iPhone. thank

There is no warning there, only a recommendation...
We recommend that you update to the latest version of iPhoto before placing your order,
On 10.6.8 you can update to 9.2.3.
You really need to rethink you're computing habits. Using a computer without a back up is like driving without a safety belt. Updating the OS and applications without one is like driving blindfolded and drunk without a safety belt...
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

    1) You asked "Does she need to reconnect to that itunes/computer and if so what do we need to do to remove this folder of pics from her ipod?" Yes, you have to connect the iPod to that computer and go to the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes and uncheck sync photos and the click on synce/apply. In the future do not check sync photos.
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
    2)
Create a NEW account for using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Then on the iPod go to
    - Settings>Messages>Send and receive and sign out your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that only her ID email address is listed.
    - Settings>FaceTime sign out of your ID and sign into hers. Make sure that under You can be reached at only her ID email address is listed
    - Settings>iCloud and sign out and sign in with hers
Contnue to use the commpn ID/account for Settings>iTunes and App stores.

  • HT204264 iDevice Sync Query - IOS Photos & iCloud Photo Library over filling ipad iphone storage - what happens next?

Device Sync Query - IOS Photos & iCloud Photo Library fills ipad iphone storage - what happens next?
Quick question, when you select IOS Photo / IiCloud storage (photos are optimised etc) what happens when ipad / iphone storage is full and you now need to add new apps, photos etc?  In my case I have  3 * 64gb ipads & 2 * 128 gb iphone but these are all filling up with photos since enabling IOS Photo &  iCloud Photo Library (as all of my photos on each device are now copbined on every device as well as the cloud).  This has become a problem as when I try to sync my idevice I get the device full warning (and I am assuming I now need to delete apps / videos if I want to sync or make more space for new photos etc). As far as I can tell once you enable IOS Photos and iCloud all photos will upload at original resolution and download at idevice resolution and there is no way to select / control the photos you want to keep on phone  (eg if you delete photo on phone it will now delete the original on cloud).
    Couple of questions / Suggestions:
    - Will IOS Photos on IOS device  automatically lower resolution of pics or use thumbnails for old photos that are already in icloud to ensure that there is space on device for new photos,  apps videos music etc. Eg will old photos that have already been uploaded in icloud be replaced by new apps videos music etc (not sure that the IOS Sync or iCloud currently does this)
    - Is there away to limit control or limit the number of IOS photos that sync to each idevice (eg by starring photos)? I had a look and can not see away to select photos you want to keep or remove (without deleting them on cloud).  As per above I am hoping that the IOS sync and icloud systems are smart enough to replace Photos that have already upgraded to cloud with a lower quality / thumbnail to make more more room for new photos and apps (but not clear if this occurs)
    - If this is a problem now what happens once the new PHOTOS launches for OS Desktop eg will it add in all our photos from iphoto to the icloud then to the idevice as part of the OS PHOTOS UPGRADE. I have 15-30 gb of photos in IPHOTO that are now backing up to icloud, there needs to be away to only select starred photos or albums or every photo try to download to my iphone (which will kill my storage). There also needs to be away to keep photos on idevice (for those times when you do not have internet and can not download from iCloud to iDevice
Apologies if I have missed something obvious and welcome any thoughts & answers.
If there is no solution then Apple needs to look at this and highlight it as a risk to customers who switch as this is being sold as a way to minimise your device storage but can lead to to customers using up more  storage for photos on ipad iphone as a result of switch to IOS PHOTOS &
    iCloud Photo Library

Things are not as dire as they might seem at first glance. My 66GB iPhoto Library became a 40GB iCloud Photo Library (~11K photos, ~300 videos) and only uses 2.2GB on my iPad and 2.4GB on my iPhone. Scaling that experience, a 64GB/128GB iOS device should be able to easily handle a 300GB iPhoto library. My iPad and iPhone are 32GB devices and I expect them to be livable through at least 30-40K of photos.
16GB devices have always been problematic for space even before iCloud Photo Library so I'd expect anybody with a 16GB device and more than a few thousand photos is not going to be able to use iCloud Photo Library with it. They will have to use iCloud Photo Streaming to get photos to iCloud Photo Library and iCloud Photo Sharing or iTunes syncing to get a subset of photos back to the device. Not a great solution but workable. However, it wrecks one of the best features for me which is using my iPad to edit the photos I take on my iPhone.
The part that worries me is the automatic space management routine. The problem it creates is that I might want to add a movie, but there won't be enough space, and my only option will be to reset iCloud Photo Library on the device to get back to all thumbnails on it to see if that gets me the space I need. I've already had to do it a couple of times with iTunes Match and it's not fun. It all depends on how aggressive Photo Library will be in trimming off full-size photos/videos and Apple appears to be leaving it a black box at this point. It would at least be nice to know an estimate of the minimum size so I know how much space I can recapture.

  • Camera edit won't crop bug

what is the fix for the now infamous CROP bug on iPhone photos? the crop simply doesn't work correctly anymore on iOS 8. I'm an artist and photoshop expert who takes 1000 shots a month. I mostly save abstract artworks to the camera roll not pretty lake horizon shots so I'm not at all interested in the iOS 8 -helping me- crop my pic . when I try to use the crop it zooms the photo OUT and then when I crop the handles based on the picture shown it crops off the right and bottom sides of 70% of my photo so I'm left with only the zoomed in and pixelated top left corner of my original picture, first what's with not allowing top left drag crop? (I've read it crops from center now? Stupid since mostly I want to chop off frames and floors from the photos of paintings) and secondly how Apple has fixed this ZOOM And CROP problem? not a single photo or saved pic from email that I've tried will actually crop.

The problem may lie in the fact that you have chosen the setting "Automatically open JPGs with Settings".
What this means is that Camera Raw is to open only JPEG files that have previously been opened with Camera Raw, and thus ALREADY have settings embedded i them as metadata.
You might want to try the "open all" setting (I forget the exact name of the setting).

  • Since upgrade to IOS 10.9 and associated iTunes 11.1.3, I can no longer WiFi sync iPad (IOS 7.0.3) nor iPhone (IOS 6.1.3).  USB connection is required.  Formerly I could sync both devices without locating them physically (not necessarily charging).

I'm also affected by this bug in exactly the same way as you.
Some users have had success by closing iTunes, enetering (on OS 10.9) settings --> network --> edit locations, then create a new location with the same wifi/network settings. Then restarting iTunes.
Others have had some success by editing settings --> iCloud --> de-selecting keychain
neither of these fixes have worked for me.
It appears that the iPad can "see" iTunes running on my iMac because when I open settings --> general --> 'iTunes wifi sync', "sync now" is greyed out if iTunes is not running. When iTunes is started, "sync now" is enabled but just doesn't work. Nor does the iPad appear in iTunes.

You don't import photos from the iPhone to your computer using iTunes.
See this -> iOS: Importing personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Note this only applies to photos taken with the iPhone. Any photos you previously added to your iPhone using iTunes should be copied from old computer to new computer.
