Iphone 5 ios 6 text messaging problems

I just purchased a new Iphone 5 ios6 Everything seems to have gone smoothly however there is a major problem with test messaging. it is intermittent.
At times I can get or receive a text from either another Iphone or another android or non smart phone. Then the phone cannot receive texts and the phone will indicate a sent text and I can watch the send bar and it verifys in green that the message was sent yet the reciever says no message received. This occurs whether I am using wifi or the verizon network. I have tried this locally in the house over my wifi to my wifes phone or to my sons Iphone. It does not work. I have soft started using the on/off power and home button simultaneously for the required 10 seconds - no changes. i have reset network settings nope, I have shut off imessaging, I have deleted all text messages, then tried, nope. I have used siri, voice recognition, typing for the text messages, nope. I have sent pics and text pics only text only nope. I have talked to a verizon tech who reset the network on her end nope. ( then we lost the connection - this was a land line discussion while I was making the restart network on my iphone)
I do not know whether this is a verizon ios6 ihone 5 bug so if I do not get a resolution quickly verizon can take back the iphone 5 and pay me for the lost time and business. I had no problems with my other phones which were not iphones!!!!
ANyone have the same or similar problems and did you get a resolution.

Rus, I've had similar issues on my iPhone 5. I was having issues that some people on my contact list just weren't getting my texts. I could text them before I got the iPhone and they received them no problem but now it wouldn't go through. Like you the phone said it went through but they never received them. I could receive their texts and even if I replied to their texts, they didn't receive it. I could call them though. I contacted Verizon and Apple but they we no help. What I figured out on my own was that if I deleted their contact from my address book and added it back in fresh, the problem was solved. It's happened to me with 4 different people that were in my contacts already and I deleted them and added them back in and it works fine now. What I believe was happening was I came from a non-smartphone. To transfer my contacts over I downloaded Verizon's contact transfer app on my old phone and uploaded them to it. When my new iPhone 5 came in I downloaded the same app and used it to transfer my contacts to my new phone. I think some of them got corrupted for some reason during the process. I don't know for sure if this is what was happening but since non of the new contacts that I added in after I got the iPhone have any problems I'm guessing I'm right. My concern still is that I will continue to find people in my address book that wont' get my texts and I just won't know it for sure. Good luck!

I decided against upgrading to iOS7 on my iPhone 4, however I did download some of the latest updates for my apps (which I assume were iOS 7 updates). The next day, all my text messages disappeared.
I tried to restore my phone through iTunes, but it refused to sync. And then it refused to restore completely. I thought I might need an upgrade on iTunes to allow it to talk to my phone. However, iTunes refuses to believe there are any new versions available ( I haven't updated it since early 2013, so I'm sure there's been updates).
I have since been unable to back up my phone and now I'm afraid of:
1. Losing all the new text messages and data I've since accumulated in the last few months and been unable to back up.
2. Losing the old text messages and data stored through iTunes on my mac.
Any advice would be appreciated. How can I sync everything back up? Or at least make sure my old data is saved somewhere without risk of erasing and then somehow get my phone to sync with itunes again.

TS2755 Iphone 4s voice to text messaging has stopped working. Any information on how to correct this?

Assuming you have Messages on. You can try two things the first is a simpler than the second. Go to this site https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/, click on Manage your ID, log in and check if your Apple ID for your Messages and FaceTime apps is the the same as your primary email address. When I went there I saw a message that I should make them the same, for some reason they weren't, after I clicked on the submit to make them the same I haven't had any problem with either. Previously I kept getting signed out of both and had to constantly reenter my password to get them working. Quite a few times they wouldn't connect at all.
The second thing you can try is in Settings - General - Reset, and reset all settings. You will then have to reenter a lot of information such as account user names and passwords but this seemed to correct things for a lot of people. The first option is easier and worked for me so I'd give it a try.

IPhone 4 sending duplicate text messages. ideas?

My iPhone is sending repeat text messages to my contacts that do not have iPhones. I have tried updating my iPhone and this doesn't seem to help.

That info is just as useless as the info from 02 lol, reboot device, update firmware, reset network settings, bla bla bla, I've heard them all as solutions to every problem I've had and it's never worked for any of them,
I've had no 3G for weeks O2 said it was because I was on ios6 (I lied) as they originally said it was because I didn't update to ios6, then they had me resetting settings even tho I told them problem was on their end, sure enough 100+ minutes of phonecalls and they finally admitted 4 of their transmitters in my area were damaged due to floods! Would of been easier to tell me that in the first place, they won't even speak to me unless I said I had updated to the latest software as they blame everything on apple, and if you do update they then blame it on updating!

So it's not a firmware problem and apple has done diddly squat to fix it
The first is a text message the second is an iMessage both together or within seconds of each other
Pretty sure its her 3G connection at work failing to send the iMessage then sending a text message instead but then sending the iMessage at the same time because it just so happened to connect

If you are having Issues with downloading iOS 5....
Try temporarily disabling your firewall and antivirus software and try again...

As ckuan said, there's no way to mark messages as urgent from the phone. So, either your carrier is doing something and you'll need to contact them or it't something on the other end. Is it just one person who's seeing your texts as urgent? Or everyone?

I have the same issues. At first Verizon told me it was an issue with my coverage area so I bought the wireless booster. Then they sent me a new phone. Still does it

Text messaging problem with iphone 5

I just bought a Verizon iphone 5 on Monday. Prior to this I had a Verizon iphone 4 which worked fine. I need to use a Network Extender (3G service) at my house in order to have cell service. This is working perfectly fine for my work cell phone a Samsung flip phone and worked perfectly with my iphone 4.
However, with the iphone 5, text messaging gets "stuck" when I leave the house, go to regular cell/LTE service then return back to the 3G Network Extender. I can't send or receive text messages. (imessage between iphones seems to work fine) To get text messaging working again I have to restart the phone. Today was also the first day I had a phone call (I declined it) and I did not receive the voicemail notification until after I restarted my phone.
I have no idea if this is a phone hardware problem or if it's a iOS problem caused by the recent update (which just happened to coincide with my buying the phone). Has anyone else had a similar problem? Heard of this? Restarting my phone every time I enter my house is a ridiculous way to solve the problem.

I see no one is having this problem. I did take it back to the Verizon store. The first time they gave me a new sim card. That was easiest. They told me sometimes those are bad and cause the phone to flake out. The new sim didn't help.
Today I took the phone back and replaced it The new phone works perfectly. This leads me to believe there was a bad cell radio in the other one and this caused all my problems. Just wanted to follow up with the end result.

Verify the Messages notifications are enabled.
Settings > Notifications > Messages > Alert Style > Set to anything other then None, although Banners go away automatically.
Also double check here that the Badge App Icon is enabled, so you'll see that red number with the amount of messages waiting to be viewed. You'll also have an option here to View in Lock Screen.

My daughter and I both have Iphones and both updated the ios 7. Now, when I send some of my text messages, my daughter's phone number shows up on the recievers phone as if she sent the message, and sometimes the messages I send out, send a copy to her phone. Also, if I send my daughter a text, it comes right back to me from her phone number as if she sent me the message. Can I fix this. (we also are on the same itunes acct.)

My imessage isnt working due to the ios 7 update. I tried to reset the network settings etc. but it still isnt working. If i restore my iphone do all my text messages get erased??

Go to settings, messages, turn iMessage off then back on. Make sure your phone number is selected for send and receive

IPhone is green in text messages with iOS 8

My wife has an iPhone 6 and when she tries to send me text messages using my iPhone 6 plus phone number, the balloons are green, not blue. When you look up my phone number in contacts it is listed as an iPhone and the phone number is blue. We have turned off SMS and reset Network settings, turned SMS back on, on both of our phones. Not sure where the issue resides. When she uses my iCloud email the texts are blue.Any thoughts?

Just as a side note: this doesn't matter one way or the other. You could give a number a custom label "rutabaga" and iMessage would still work.
In addition to Chris's advice, you might try resetting your network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.
