IPhone 5 iOS 7.0.2 Music app - volume slider slides to maximum when skipping tracks.

Hi all,
Wonder whether any other customers getting this?
iPhone 5 UK iOS 7.0.2 music app - when skipping tracks (or even selecting tracks) volume slider slides to maximum volume by itself intermittently. I have noticed with EU Volume Limit 'ON' in music settings or Volume limiting 'on' this behaviour occurs. I've turned off volume limiting and now it appears to work normally.
I did restore as new iPhone via iTunes at iOS 7.0 and had this behaviour followed by update to iOS 7.0.2 via iTunes and same problem.
I can't decide if this is a hardware or software problem?
Thanks all!

Yep - deleting anything that's not purchased on itunes when I try to play it.
This is terrible, and especially a pain when they're things like limited edition albums where tracks are only available direct, so going for iTunes match is not gonna help.
Only other variable to consider is that I installed the "Groove" app to try out a few weeks ago, and played music with it twice. Highly doubt this is related, however non-iTunes purchased tmusic tracks also show up there and now *crash the phone* when I try to play them so it's something system-wide.

  • Is the IOS 7.0.2 music app deleting albums for anyone else when they try to play them?

Ever since updating to iOS 7.0.2 when I play music on my iPhone 5 it's skips through the songs and deletes the album/artists selected.
I have tried plugging into iTunes, deleting all music and transferring it all back but after a few days the problem came back
Is anyone else experiencing this and or found a fix?

  • IOS 5.1.1 Music app aborts after two characters entered in search field if Home Sharing in use.

The iOS 5.1.1 Music app search function works fine on my iPad 2 as long as the library being searched is resident on the iPad.
When Home Sharing from my iMac’s iTunes library is used, however, the Music app aborts without explanation after two characters are entered in the search field.
The behavior is always as expected after the first character is entered, but an abort always occurs after the second.
I have tried restarting iTunes on my iMac, and I have done a hard reset on my iPad, but the behavior remains the same.
This is not a minor problem from the user’s perspective, because unless the iTunes library being accessed is very small, it is very hard to find music from the information shown by the Music app on the iPad screen; it would be even worse for an iPhone or iPod touch. Without the search function working on iOS Music app, Home Sharing is of very limited use for me.
In case it is relevant, here is fuller information about the environment:
iMac 27" 2.93 GHz i7 12 GB RAM (Approx. 10 GB free or inactive at time of problem)
    OS X 10.7.4
    iTunes 10.6.3
    iPad 2G 16 GB Wi-Fi only
    iOS 5.1.1
    Airport Extreme 5G v 7.6.1
    Airport Express  802.11n v. 7.6.1 extending network
Has anyone else experienced a problem like this?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks

Spoke to a "senior advisor" in the Apple TV department.  Her suggestions:  change channel in router to minimize/eliminate wifi interference from other users; move router away from any metal - i.e., DVD player, phone modem, etc.; keep router away from wireless 2.4 gH phones, which are "notorious" for crashing wifi routers.  So she confirms that the problem is one of connection to router suddenly dropping out.
My own feeling is that none of these fixes will do the trick, because it seems pretty clear that there is a hardware component here - the timing of the drops seems like an overheating issue.  It takes 35-40 minutes for the box to warm up enough for the first drop; then each consecutive drop happens quicker than the one before, as it heats up more.  Each time it drops, its tiny brain gets a little more scrambled; last night it finally wouldn't start up again at all.
My suggestion is that everyone who is experiencing this problem, please call Apple tech support and ask to speak to a senior advisor in the Apple TV department.  Make them aware of this problem!

  • IOS 5 and broken Music app (iPod touch 3rd Gen)

    hi,
since the latest iOS 5 release, my music app has been behaving in a weird way. It's as if the app forgets whether it's in portrait or landscape mode (but that's oversimplifying the problem I think).
I took step-by-step screenshots of what happens when I open the music app: (keep in mind that even if the picure is shown as landscape, I was holding my iPod in the portrait mode (I realised I should've locked it into portrait, but forgot. Either way, the problem is still the same!)
    Opening the app:
    http://d.pr/i/jn2X
first problem, shows as if a video is loading (it is not!)
    http://d.pr/i/FcJl
and there it is, after the app "loads" the screen, it looks like the UI is messed up

Usually switching between screens on the bottom of the screen (playlists, artistis, genres etc.) will fix the UI problem.

Yes, it will work. Do a manual install, as outlined in the link below.

  • The ipad music app does not allow me to play certain tracks that i have synced via my itunes. The tracks are clearly visibly in the music app but when tap on them to play they wont play. help and advice will be much appreciated

The ipad music app does not allow me to play certain tracks that i have synced via my itunes. The tracks are clearly visibly in the music app but when tap on them to play they wont play. what do i do?

Agree about the disaster part. I haven't found a fix within iTunes.
I gave up and switched to downcast 2 days ago. Even though it was a hassle to re-subscribe to all my podcasts, im so much happier.
To make switching easier, I found that in iTunes you can "get info" on the podcast and copy the RSS address to the clipboard. Put all of these in a message note. When iCloud syncs the note to your phone, you can copy and paste the urls into downcast one at a time to subscribe.
Downcast has crashed on me occassionally when I'm subscribing to feeds, but so far it has recovered gracefully each time and no data was lost.

  • IOS 6.1.2 music app making an Internet connection every time launched.

I noticed that each time I open the Music app it makes a connection. I used system status to track down who owned the IP used and it's Apple. I assume it is checking for iTunes Match, but I don't have iTunes Match and it is disabled. So I logged out of iTunes & App Store single sign-on in Settings and the connection attempts stopped. But this stinks because I don't want to have to sign in and out each time so my battery isn't used by random connection. Apple's built in apps all immediately sync each time I open them, which is why I have switched to other apps that don't to save battery.
Is anyone else having this happen? Any possible solutions?

    Why is this a problem?

  • How can I stop iPad from starting the music app after ending a phone call when using Bluetooth headphones?

music app automatically starts after using Bluetooth headphones during a phone call

If you don't have iTunes you will need to buy the song from the iTunes store and download it that way. If it is a custom track you may be out of luck.  The only way to get a song on your device without iTunes involves jailbreaking it.
iOS is set up to prevent people from emailing each other songs, videos, movies, books, etc. This is how Apple got their contracts with the content providers by promising that they would do what ever it takes to prevent people from sharing content that they didn't pay for.

  • Music app on iPad Air sensing touch when fingers are off screen

Got an iPad air 32GB WiFi, the music app, when on a list, seems to be sensing touch, and the list will start to scroll. This happens more when fingers are on other areas of the screen (like volume control), however controlling music from EarPod remote seems to trigger this also. Have a Smart Cover (from Apple Store), which I thought could be affecting it, however because this is an intermittent issue, I haven't been able to fully test this theory.

Your iPad Air is under warranty.  If that were my machine, I would take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Center, demonstrate the issue to the folks, and see what remedy they recommend.

  • IOS 7.1 device disconnects when skipping track

I use an adapter (iSimple ISGM575) that integrates into my factory radio, effectively turning it into a docking station for an 'iDevice'. I have used it with an iPod Nano 3rd Gen, and iPhone 3G, and an iPhone 4 over the years I have owned my vehicle. I recently replaced my iPhone 4 with a 5s and decided I would demote my iPhone 4 to the equivalent of an iPod Touch rather than trade it or sell it since it was a 32GB model.
Before I moved to the iPhone 5s, I had updated the iOS to 7.x.x (not 7.1) months ago. The iPhone 4 worked fine as my new audio player and I was mostly pleased other than the already experienced minor OS lag since I updated from iOS 6.x to 7 and the scrapping of folio view (ugh). So I was pleased to hear that iOS 7.1 specifically addressed and improved the performance of the OS on the iPhone 4 platform. Please bring back folio view Apple!
Also, I had kept my device updated with all the iOS versions before I moved on to the iPhone 5, and whenever I used it, such as when using it as my navigation aid or playing Podcasts, it always worked.
Well, since doing the 7.1.0 update, whenever I advance a track using my car's 'iPhone dock', the device disconnects briefly, connects, disconnects briefly, and connects again. The next track is 3 - 5 seconds already started when audio resumes. Highly annoying! It seems that the track is advanced as soon as I have commanded it but the device is disconnecting from my dock system so I get back to the music as explained, 3 - 5 seconds into the new track.
I'd rather not have to go through the technical pain of trying to downgrade back to 7.0.4. Is this a bug or by design?

If the device is unlocked it does not seem to do this. I'd rather not leave it unlocked and an easy target for theft. I tried turning on 'Car Play' in restrictions and that seemed to help for a little while, but then it started up with the problem after a few skipped tracks. Now about every 5th time I skip a track, it happens normally, but most of the time I get the multi-disconnect issue.

  • IOS 8.1.1 music app glitch

    My problem is as follows:
I recently updated to the newest IOS (8.1.1) (less than a week ago). I was going through my music on my phone, when I encountered something strange. A certain artist has been merging and/or replacing other artists whenever I listen to his music (which isn't often, so i'm not exactly sure if this is even the OS's fault.) This glitch does not happen when multiple artists are shuffled, nor on playlists. Here is exactly what happens: I play a song from the problem artist's album, through the artist selection screen. Next I select another artist through the artist selection screen, and that's where the problem happens. The artist that I select second shows 1 of 3 iterations: 1: the first artist's name and art, with the second's songs. 2: Everything is the first artist. 3: second artist's name, first artist's art and songs.
As far as I can tell, it only happens on 1 artist, and I can find no discernible difference in said artists metadata or info from the rest.
    Fixes I've tried:
    Navigating to other artists (unsuccessful)
    going to a playlist (success)
quitting and restarting app (moderate success; art is still wrong)
I cannot know for sure that this error is due to the IOS version or not because I only encountered this recently and it only affects one artist thus far, any insight is appreciated!
    Hardware: iphone 5s, 16GB
    Software: IOS 8.1.1

  • How can i sync my iphone 4 without deleting everthing (music, apps etc)?

Our computer crashed and deleted my log in and everything that was saved under my log in and also deleted my i-tunes.
We have created me another log in but I am worried if I connect to the i-tunes under the new log in I will delete all my music and apps I purchased.
How can I sync my phone without deleting everything?

Restore everything from the backup of your computer.

  • The 'Music' app no longer remembers the place when playing Audiobooks.

I have been downloading Audiobooks from Audible to iTunes for around 10 years. I always ensure that the settings include 'remember place' before uploading them to 'Music' on (currently) my iPhone 4.
In the last few weeks this seems to have stopped working.
I selected all of my Audiobooks and applied the 'remember place' flag to all of them and connected the iPhone again to sync it.
It worked! ... Once. Second time I stopped the player, when I went back to it, it returned to where it had started the previous time; 3 hours 41 minutes. Now, every time I stop the player it returns to 3:41.
I suspect that the cause is that the 'lock screen' shows the player with the book, and always stays at 3;41, even when playing. My feeling is that this overrides the players pointer, because the minute the phone is unlocked, back it goes to 3:41.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get round this?
    Many thanks
    Regards
    Cleonw

WORKAROUND: In iTunes, select the podcast files and hit CMD-I (show info). Set the genre to something other than "Podcast", and in the Options tab, set the Media Type to Music. You can do this to the files that are on your iPhone. If you do this to the files on your computer, they will no longer show up as Podcasts - they'll be mixed in with music files in your library. You can then put these podcasts into playlists on the iPhone, and they'll show up on the phone once it's disconnected. You might need to fool around with this a bit - try it more than once, etc. - I had some podcasts not show up on the iPhone until after a SECOND connect-and-disconnect operation with the computer. Others here might do some experimenting and figure out a smoother set of instructions that will always work - but this is a starting point.
Note that I ALWAYS "manage music and video files manually" - I NEVER "sync" music and video. Your mileage may vary.
Apple - please listen: The handling of podcasts in iOS 7 is not a feature, it's a bug. As you can tell from the comments here, MANY people need to manage podcasts as if they were music files (and sometimes, THEY ARE!!!!). The arbitrary decision to treat podcasts differently is WRONG - an audio file is an audio file. I don't need to buy one TV to watch sports and one TV to watch news - because video is video. Get it? If you want to provide a Podcasts app, that's fine, and anyone who wants to use it can do so. But don't RUIN the previous, excellent functionality that we had before, when it's completely unnecessary and a colossal pain (not to mention insult) to your customers. And in some cases, it's a serious driving safety issue.
I'll be watching this space to see if others can refine the basic workaround that I've found.
UPDATE: It appears that changing the genre is unnecessary, only the "Media Type". It's probably best to do this only to the copies on the iPhone, so the files in your computer's library are not altered.

  • When I try to play a song in the music app, all it does it automatically change the track to the next song. Please help.

Please help this has been going on for awhile.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPod?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPod shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). Ignore the "Slide to power off"
If these don't work try removing all music via iTunes and reinstall all the music from your iTunes library.

  • Music app crashes with IOS 8.3 after playing two songs

I just submitted this bug report to Apple:
I have a auto update smart playlist based on zero rated tracks with an album rating of 3 stars or higher.  I play this playlist on random and rate the tracks as I listen to them.  Since updating to iOS 8.3 the music app will play two tracks (which I have rated during the play) and upon the completion of the second track will crash or close out and return me to the iOS home screen.  This is repeatable.  I have music matched switched off and the playlist is freshly updated from WiFi update from my Mac.
Has anyone else experience something similar where the music app will close repeatedly after only playing a couple of songs?

    Hi
I'm also having all the same problems mentioned earlier, ever since my update to 8.3.
Having tried deleting "5 star" playlist, recreating and then re-syncing, does nothing!!
As per ToolMan7x6, I can play from "songs" , "albums" or " artists" via shuffle or regular play with no problems, on my iPhone 5S, but as I can't listen to the circa 3500 songs I have on my phone all day in shuffle mode, this is driving me nuts!!
Any suggestions would much be appreciated
    iPhone 5c (iOS 8.3 - wish I hadn't done it!!!)
