Iphone 5 (ios 7.0.4) battery drains in 2hours

i know there is a ton of threads out there already about iphone 5 batter drain issues.
i want to know;
1. is there a legit fix for this?
2. is there any update coming SOON from apple to fix this?
i work in sports and i need my phone to work; i cant have it plugged in all the time.  if thats the case i might as well go with landline again.
can someone make a suggestion here.
Thanks

i'll try this.  Thanks.
do you recommend those battery Dr. Apps? do they even work?
- this is the thing, i dont do anything crazy; standard stuff like checking emails, responding to txt's; phone calls that last no more than 5-6mins tops. But i've noticed that i used to be able to run all day without issues, and recently (i'd say about a month) i'll use it for 20mins and and i'll see it go from 100% to 65% in a flash... it messes me up for the rest of the day.
even today for example... i saw this reply on my phone and i was at 36%.  by the time i read the post, did all the recommended things in the article; the phone died.  and that took no more than 10mins to do all that.  so i'm stumpped.
never had this problem before, then poof.... and i have 4 iphones; (iphone 5, iphone 4s and 2 iphone 4's) iphone 5 and 4s are on ios7 and have this same problem; the 4's are still on ios 6 and are running like well oiled machines.  i hope this works.
any other suggestions, send them my way. and i'll keep you posted on my end.
thanks for the help.

  • IPhone 5s IOS 8.1.1 battery drain using mail

Problem: battery drain is unacceptably high with -1% per five minutes
Description: after upgrading from IOS 7 to 8 the battery drain on my iPhone 5s (32GB) has hugely increased. Several tips on the internet have been tried from turning off several services to reinstalling the IOS none with no improvement. After reinstallation the drain was acceptable only to result in again a -1% drain per five minutes after a week.
Expected: using IOS 7 I could easily use the iPhone throughout the whole day with -1% per fifteen minutes. After installing an improved IOS one would expect similar or lower battery drain
Tests: as said, severals tips found on the internet have been tested none with any improvement. Deleting all accounts under "Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars" proved to be the only solution for this problem (a non-functional solution I must add since I'm using this iPhone for communication...). Even keeping the iCloud account but disabling all iCloud services did not improve the situation, only a real account deletion worked.
Question: do you know how to get battery drain back to -1% per fifteen minutes whilst maintaining my iCloud and Exchange account using IOS 8.1.1 on an iPhone 5s (32GB)?
    Kind regards,
    Ronald

Since upgrading my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1, my battery has not been the same. I was able to get 9-10 hours of usage before and am lucky to get 6-7 hours. AppleCare thought that was on the low side and told me to visit my local Apple Store for a thorough diagnostic testing of the battery. My appointment is tomorrow. Will report back.

  • Possible solution to iOS 7.0.3 battery drain issue (iPhone 5).

Not a question as such, but for anyone who's having battery drain issues on iOS 7.0.3 and doesn't want to attempt upgrade to iOS 7.0.4 revision yet...
I was having some problems with battery drain with my iPhone 5 since updating to 7.0.3. The device is only about 5 weeks old so I was quite annoyed that I had issues with it.
This morning after a full charge I did a hard reset. Now the problem seems to have gone. I've had the phone on for several hours (about 4.5hrs) and it's only just dropped to 99% moments ago. This is a massive improvement (on even the battery life of the device when I got it, and it had 6.1.3 factory installed).
I hope that this helps anyone who doesn't want to risk 7.0.4 until it's had a chance to cool off and for people to identify/resolve any issues (as I am waiting too).

The update isn't the problem. It was a problem with your update process. millions of others have updated without any issue at all.
Also resetting has been discussed many times in the never ending battery draining threads.

  • Iphone 6, iOS 8.0.2, battery drain & overheating

So I upgraded to an iphone 6 from an iphone 5. The phone came with iOS 8.0.2. It seems that I am not the only one with this issue but my my phone gets hot after a short use and battery drains rather quickly. It seems to be a software issue since many people are exhibiting the same symptoms. My battery usage shows that the Home & Lock Screen ate up 26% of the battery and my settings ate up 22%. That seems a tad high. Battery is at 84% after 56 min usage and 4 hr 14 min at standby. Note this is on the initial charge after transferring my data from the iphone 5 to the iphone 6. Battery has not fully drained yet. What do you guys suggest? Thanks.

I have a similar problem on my 5s. Since updating it has stopped allowing me to send texts to my wive, but will accept them and allows calls.
I must add that I can text her when on wifi, and also from my mac, but when on 4g?
    Any ideas?

  • IPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.2 Battery Drains FAST!

My iPhone 4s with iOS 7.0.2 the battery drains tremendously fast! This morning it was 100% charged then just by surfing facebook and flipboard with 3G, it became 7% in the noon. I hope Apple can solve this problem! I'm very upset right now

I've pretty much proved to myself that this is a bug in 7.0.2.  Since my post a few days ago I have:
Done a full restore of my iPhone with 7.0.2 - problem still persisted - draining battery at approx 23%/hour with no use, and with all the battery saving tips applied (no push notifications, no background updating etc).
Restored iPhone with 7.0 - battery drain dropped to approx 5%/hour with no use and battery saving tips applied.  With push notifications & background updating turned back on, battery drain increased to approx 12%/hour which is high, but still significantly better than 7.0.2.
I would recomend everyone who is having this problem with 7.0.2 to lodge a bug report with Apple - www.apple.com/feedback - hopefully if enough of us lodge the bug report, Apple will listen and release an update.
As for downgrading, unfortunately we cannot downgrade to 6.x anymore, but you can downgrade to 7.0.  It is a matter of downloading the appropriate firmware. Firmware's are available here - http://www.icj.me/ios - although that site lists 6.x, they will no longer work, so get the 7.0. That site redirects you to Apple's server for the appropriate ROM, so they are legitimate. Before you install it, you have to turn "Find My iPhone" off by going to Settings | Privacy | Location Services | Find iPhone.  The installation seems to turn it back on when done, but you should probably check.  Once the firmware has downloaded, you can install it on your device by going to iTunes, and holding down the option key while clicking Restore.  This is on Mac - on Windows I assume you would press Alt (but if that doesn't work, try Ctl or Shift).  If you have pressed the right button on your keyboard, a file browser window will appear, allowing you to choose the firmware that you just downloaded.
Once installation is complete, iTunes will tell you that there is an update available for your iPhone, just click "Later" everytime the warning appears.

  • IOS 4.3.1 battery drain on iPhone

I have been wrestling with trying to find out what is causing my faster than normal battery drain issues since upgrading to 4.3.1 on iPhone. I thought I had it nailed when I discovered Skype was running in background. I have since deleted the Skype app but am still getting faster than normal battery drain. I then began to look at the internal processes running and am now wondering if any of those are the culprit.
How do you know what the process is used for and if it is needed? And then how to kill it?
Thanks and I look forward to your reply.
    ...Bruce

Well I'm still testing, but so far still looks crap to me.
It seems the opening animation is still horrible, but on most apps the second time you open an app (if it is already loaded) its smooth. This tells me when you first hit an app that it's loading is interfering with the animation. (never did this before 4.3)
The ipod app is still glitchy animation wise, and settings still has a second or so pause before appearing.
The camera app openeing speed seems to have improved a little though, but the double tap to reveal background tasks is totally inconsistant. (pause before doing anything, then glitchy crappy animation on screen move up).
Ultimately, I think that this is just a case of apple dumping the 3gs, and 'pushing' people to get a more powerful iphone (4 or even 5 later this year). The update doesn't even mention 3gs stability in the release notes, so Apple either basically have their head in the sand, or as I expect, just don't give a crap.
Will test some more, but this isn't looking good.

  • IOS 8.1.3 - Battery draining very quickly

Since installing iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6 the battery has started to drain very quickly with little to no use. Anybody else having the same problem

I too was having some serious battery drain on IOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5S. The phone kept getting warm (like I was using maps navigation) I think I just fixed it.  On the hunch that it had to be something with location services I went to the following location in my phones settings: Settings->Privacy->Location Services now scroll all the way down and Click System Services. Disable Cell Network Search, Setting Time Zone, and Wifi Networking. You can also try disabling these one at a time. I really don't need these services so I disabled them all.
Your phone should now cool down and hold a charge like it did before, mine does. Here are what those settings you are disabling do:
Cell Network Search:This tracks cell tower usage and congestion, and sends the data back to Apple for analysis as to what towers are being used the most, how you move between cell towers, and which ones are overused. It does not help your phone locate a cell tower. Turning this off will not affect your phone’s performance, according to Apple.
Setting Time Zone:Your time zone will be instantly adjusted according to your geographic location. Ever notice how as soon as you turn on your phone after a long flight, it displays the local time perfectly, even before getting cell signal? It’s this setting. If you turn it off, you’ll lose that functionality.
Wi-Fi Networking:This particular setting is interesting, and requires some explanation. As you move around a city, your iPhone is constantly picking up WiFi signals. It geotags that data (“XYZ WiFi is at this GPS location”), encrypts it so that it is anonymous and unique (otherwise the data would look like all hotspots are named “linksys”), and stores it as what Apple calls “crowdsourced Wi-Fi Hotspot locations”. Next time someone walks by that exact hotspot, their iPhone will know where they are without using GPS – because you basically already “marked” the area. Shutting this setting off will stop that info from being sent to Apple. It will not affect your phone’s performance.

  • All iOS camera apps heavy battery drain why?

all camera apps on my iPhone 5 cause severe battery drain. Why?

The battery drain on the iPhone due to the iOS 8 is currently a trending issue which APPLE claims to be working on right now for the next upcoming update.
Agreed to the fact as the iPhone 5 is compatible to 4G Network due to which the Disable 3G option has been removed from the Cellular Settings.
You may use some of the below tips to work on the Battery Life:
    1. Use of DND mode the most when possible maybe in the night time or when in a meeting,
    2. A new option available in PRIVACY > LOCATION SETTTINGS > When Using, Always, Never.
Switch some application to NEVER which you do not use.
    3. Switch the Display and Brightness to AUTO BRIGHTNESS,
    4. Turn OFF the Bluetooth and WiFi option when not needed,
    5. Turn the REQUIRE PASSCODE duration to the lowest option i.e. After 1 Min,
    6. If possible use a DARK BLACK wallpaper,
    7. In the MAIL Setting, turn OFF the FETCH Setting by selecting MANUALLY.
Let me know if you have already used these settings and still facing issues..!!

  • IPhone 4S 5.1.1 Battery drain, fixed for my case

I just got a 4S, to replaced my missing iphone 4.
The firware was 5.1, so I upgraded over the air (using the phone alone) to 5.1.1
Then I restored by phone using the back up in iTune.
But I realised my latest backup was in iCloud (I did not backup all apps in iCloud), so I restored with iCloud again, after goto Reset Settings two times.
Starting to use the phone, experiencing very fast battery drain, 1% drop every 2-3 minutes.
at one time I notice the battery was hot and battery drain real fast. I found the reason:
the iCould continue to restore but stuck. Just goto Settings - iCould -Storage & Backup, at the bottom you see iCloud Restoring (or something) then phone..
Just cancel or stop it. Because in my case, all the apss I needed already restored.
Next day I still experiencing very fast battery drain, 1% drop every 2-3 minutes. I tried all the Location Service - System Services - Setting Time Zone (it is on all time (purple)), but actually its not the culpit, my friends has this on and all the time has a purple arrow, no battery drain issue.
Also tried removing email accounts, in my case, it still does not resolve it.
I decided to have a clean upgrade to 5.1.1 (over 890MB) instead of the phone over the air upgrade (50MB+), so I connect the iphone 4S to iTune , has it synced and backup.
Click the restore, and iTune download from apple and wipe/upgrade to 5.1.1 again. Restore it from itune after that (not set as NEW phone),
    TA TA!!
    All the problem gone.
Hope this help, if you have similar case like me.

It is me again, just to explain that the thing that sems to lock up the computer in step 7 of 7 is "Syncing GEnious Data to iPHone". I don't know if that helps,  but any thoughts appreciated.

  • I have just got my new iPhone 4 white and the battery drains quicker than it should. How would I fix this?

I got my new iphone 4 white 32GB today and the battery drains quicker than it should

So based on that you're saying around 6 hours discharge? That sounds about right if you're on the web using 3G. Games and apps eat up the battery faster.
    Talk time:
Up to 7 hours on 3G
Up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM model only)
Standby time: Up to 300 hours
    Internet use:
Up to 6 hours on 3G
Up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi
Video playback: Up to 10 hours
Audio playback: Up to 40 hours
Knowing what you were using it for would help

  • Iphone 3GS 3.1.2 Battery drain problem

    Hi,
Recently i have purchased Iphone 3gs with software 3.1.2. I'm facing a serious problem of battery drain. Without doing anything, the battery drains so fast. Is there is any way to over come this problem?

Here's what I do that usually keeps battery life accurate. Drain the battery till it's dead, charge up full and do a hard reset while it's still plugged in and it usually works. If this fixes it just keep killing the battery and charging it full. If it acts up repeat steps above. Mine works almost everytime when it starts acting up. I was just trying things and this worked. Hope this helps

  • Iphone 4 from sprint and battery drain issues

how many people out there bought a new iphone 4 from sprint and having the rapid battery drain issues?  there is a big thread on the 4s but not as much on the 4 and im trying to decide if its best to just exchange it or try more fixes.

I have the same issue. I am with sprint. The battery goes down in 6 hours, mostly in standby and some emails. I can actualy see the battery meter going down every 30 sec when reading my mails. iCloud is disabled as also push notification. The phone gets also hot. This issue is completely stupid and remember, I had iPhones for the last 3 years. My last one was the 4. It is first time I have such a problem. My friends that have the 4S with AT&T do not have that problem. As a mater of fact, I compared today and mine goes down 50% faster. I will have to return it and switch to another provider.

  • Plugged in my new iPhone to charge before letting battery drain to 0%. Did I ruin it?

I plugged in my new iPhone 6 to charge before letting the battery drain to 0%. It was at about 86% when I plugged it in to my computer to restore everything from my previous phone and then left it to charge to 100%. Will my battery be ruined because of my failure to let it drain before charging it? Pls help!!

You aren't supposed to let it drain fully before charging it - in fact, repeatedly doing so can damage the battery.
Charge it whenever it is convenient for you. Try to avoid running it all the way out unless necessary.
Apple does recommend running it out about once per month, and you can also run it to 0% if the battery gauge seems to be incorrect.

  • IPhone 5S Getting Heated and Battery Drain issue

From Past 2 Days , my iPhone is been getting heated and the battery drain is 1% per minute.
Earlier When i used to put it on standby it used to be only a drop by 1-2 % through out night. Now it has gone down to -35% to 40% drain.
    I have tried
    -Resetting all settings
    - Restoring to fresh new iPhone
-let my battery down to 0 and then charge it to 100% again
But Nothing Helped, i am out of the country for work and i visit an apple store here.
Any Suggestions, How do i Fix it?

I have a VERY similar issue to extremecoder...
Iphone 5s 16gb (purchased from Apple Online U.K. on 8th December 2013) was fine until the last two days onwards. I am now getting incredibly quick battery drain. The image is a screenshot taken this morning. Phone was charged to 100% last night and used for an hour or so, with battery level on 50%. I then switched off overnight as I always do.
Turned it back on again this morning and was at 48%!
Now look at it.    Do I have a case here for a replacement phone?
P.S. Location services, bluetooth etc all off as they always are. Nothing has changed at all in my usage habits with the phone.
