IPhone 5 isn't recognized by Macbook Pro and/iTunes 11.1.3

Hey guys,
I recently updated my Macbook Pro's software to OS X 10.7.5 and iTunes to 11.1.3 and never had problems with syncing my iPhone 5. However, the other day my computer was having problems syncing the music, only syncing certain songs (even though my iTunes library on my Mac had them and they are playable), and now my computer isn't even recognizing my phone anymore. At first when the computer would recognize the phone, it would stop at certain syncing points (like copying music step) and now, there's nothing. I've gotten new USB cords, I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it, searched tirelessly through forums/discussions, I've turned my phone and computer off numerous times thinking it would recognize the iPhone afterwards, but nope. Please offer me some suggestions here because I'm losing my mind not being able to listen to all the music I just downloaded. Thanks everyone.

It seems like the major clue above is to disconnect other devices from your USB port(s), and use a USB port directly on your Mac.

  • IPhone 4s not recognized by MacBook Pro nor iTunes

I am currently running iOS 6.0.1 on my iPhone 4s and OS X 10.9.4 on my MacBook Pro Retina Late 2012. I recently reformatted my computer by means of a bootable OSX installer and I did a completely clean install. For some reason, my iPhone is able to charge, but not recognized by my computer nor iTunes at all. Nothing comes up.
I have followed the directions in the following:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591?viewlocale=en_US
    and
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/24169239#24169239#24169239
Neither solution seems to be working. I have done the following:
    reinstalled my iTunes multiple times
reset my networking on my iPhone a few times
    restarted my computer
    updated all my software
checked to make sure USB cables work
    tried multiple iPhone charging cables
I'd greatly appreciate some guidance in regards to this. Thanks!

When you say a bootable OS X installer where did you get the installer?  Is it one you created yourself?
You might want to try restarting the MacBook Air holding the Command and R keys.  From Utilities on the menu bar, choose Install Mac OS X.  That will reinstall using an installer from Apple.  Install and see if that changes the behavior.
I did the following from this website:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2056561/how-to-make-a-bootable-mavericks-install -drive.html
    Option 1: Use createinstallmedia
Hidden inside the Mavericks installer is a Unix program calledcreateinstallmedia, provided by Apple for creating a bootable Mavericks installer. If you’re comfortable using Terminal, it’s a relatively simple tool to use. The program assumes your account has administrator privileges.
Note: This method does not work in Snow Leopard. It works only in Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks. (The resulting installer drive will let you install Mavericks over Snow Leopard, but you can’t create the installer drive while booted into Snow Leopard.) If you need to create a Mavericks install drive while booted into Snow Leopard, you should use the Disk Utility instructions, below.
Download the Mavericks installer from the Mac App Store and make sure it’s in your main Applications folder. (This means that if you followed my advice to move the installer out of your Applications folder, you’ll have to move it back, at least temporarily. The Terminal command I’m using here assumes the installer is in its default location.)
Connect to your Mac a properly formatted 8GB (or larger) drive. Rename the drive to Untitled. (The Terminal command used here assumes the drive is named Untitled.)
    Select the text of this Terminal command and copy it:sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
    Launch Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities).
Paste the copied command into Terminal and press Return. Warning: This step will erase the destination drive or partition, so make sure it doesn’t contain any valuable data.
Enter your admin-level account password when prompted.
The Terminal window displays the progress of the process, in a very Terminal sort of way, by displaying a textual representation of a progress bar: Erasing Disk: 0%... 10%...20%... and so on. The program then tells you it’s copying the installer files, making the disk bootable, and copying boot files. Wait until you see the text Copy Complete. Done. (see the screenshot below), which could take as long as 20 or 30 minutes, depending on how fast your Mac can copy data to your destination drive.
You now have a bootable Mavericks-install drive.

  • IPhone 4S not recognized by MacBook Pro

    Mac OS X Lion - Version 10.7.4
    iPhone 4S
Tried troubleshooting all over the internet on this one and have finally given up after countless attempts. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
So my iPhone 4S works fine with one exception, it will not take a charge or sync on my MacBook Pro anymore. Not sure what I did (or what update did it) but I'd like to fix the issue if possible.
I have an iPod shuffle, iTouch and iPad 2, all of which sync fine on the MacBook Pro.
The iPhone 4S charges in my car, through all wall outlets and is set up on iCloud and syncs fine with iPhoto, iCal, and any purchases made on iTunes. The big reason I need to get this fixed is to move the videos I have on my iPhone onto my MacBook.
I've tried different cords, restarting both the MacBook Pro and iPhone, resetting the iPhone etc. etc.
I'm at a loss other than taking the iPhone and MacBook into an Apple store. I feel like I've read countless threads on this same issue but no real fixes.
    Does anyone have a solution?

Thought I would add a quick update.
I tried plugging my iPhone 4S into a different MacBook Pro and no response there either.
Safe to assume it's the phone at this point???
Think I may just take it to the Apple Store if nobody has any ideas.

  • Can I transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?

I have taken my photos on my iPhone and broken them down into separate album folders. When I sync my iPhone to my laptop, it will transfer the pictures over, but not in the separate album folders I've created on my iPhone.
Can I somehow transfer my individual iPhone photo albums to my MacBook Pro and iPad?
Why won't the "Album Folders" transfer over? I know I can create separate folders directly on my laptop, but that doesn't help with transferring the folders from my iPhone over to my laptop or iPad.

The Seagate backup drive I bought doesn't support 10.5.8
The only reason I can see for that is it's formatted NTFS, which would likely be Read Only in 10.5.x, if you can reformat it MacOS extended, which would erase everything on it now, then that should work for your purposes.

If you have your MBP charger, try a SMC reset:

If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.

  • I bought a new macbook pro and iTunes will not let me purchase anything. All computers unregistered. This computer is registered. Cannot purchase anything using my apple id and my apple id works because i buy things on my i phone. What is the problem

I bought a new macbook pro and now every time i try to buy anything with my apple id it doesn't go through. I tried Ibooks and iTunes but neither one will work. I have registered this computer and even tried unregistering all the other computers but that did not do anything. I also checked my form of payment and that is not the problem either because i have no problems what so ever buying anything on my iPhone or my desktop computer.
    It is just this computer.
I try to buy something and something pops up and says... "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-45054). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later."
And i have been trying later for 2days now.

Have you tried repairing disk permissions : iTunes download error -45054

  • IPhone Camera not recognized by MacBook Pro

My camera is neither being recognized by Image Capture, nor by iPhoto.
This was working fine (iPhoto auto-launching to download the camera roll) before my vacation, and now I have 1000+ pictures on my iPhone that I want to download.
During my vacation I changed timezones, used airplane mode, etc.
Is there any way to get all of these photos off my iPhone without wiping the entire thing?
The whole phone still works properly, it still takes photos (I'm up to 1094 now).
Thus far I've tried rebooting everything, turning the iPhone off for a while, letting it be plugged into my laptop over night... Nothing works so far.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

When I plug in the iPhone, I get the following in the console.log:
    Jul 23 10:59:19 Crainte kernel[0]: USBF: 3331.256 AppleUSBEHCI[0x3839000]::Found a transaction which hasn't moved in 5 seconds on bus 253, timing out!

Perhaps the camera device is timing out somehow...
I'm going to drive out to an Apple store to see if they can download the photos for me... and then maybe try a restore...

  • I have 2 accounts merged on 1 Iphone, now I bought new Macbook Pro and during synchronisation he ask me still the other account. What to do?

    Hi,
A few years ago I started with a first Apple-ID and I downloaded Apps in the Itunes store to put on the Iphone, then there came Mobile Me, I've made then a new account and bought some other apps in the Itunes Store. Since then the Iphone was syncronised with ALL the APPS. The I boughtthe Ipad and the Macbook moved my Apps as well to the Ipad.
Now I bought a new Macbook Pro Retina and during synchronisation, the system still ask me the account who isn't logged in. But I can't do it because when I login with 1 account, he refuses the loading of the Apps of the second account and visa versa.
Does somebody know how I can solve this problem?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Syncing calendar on Entourage with Macbook pro and itunes prob!

    Hi there,
I have just spent an hour on the phone to apple then to Microsoft and neither solved my problem.
I have Entourage on my mac and have an IMAP account that is synced to my iphone 4. For some reason, I cannot sync my calendar on Entourage to my calendar on my iphone. When I create an event on my phone, it doesn't show in Entourage and vice versa. I've tried everything, deleting my sync history, clicking and unclicking the sync buttons in Entourage - still doesn't work. Also, when I deleted my sync history, my mail account disappeared from itunes when I sync my iphone. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

  • I am trying to sync my iPhone to my new macbook pro and it says that it is synced with another iTunes store which it is... is there any way i don't have to delete my content?

I am trying to sync my iphone 4s with my new macbook pro and it says that i need to erase the content because i am connected to another itunes store, which i am but i dont know if i want to erase my content.... any sugustions???

"would it work if i backed up or restored my iphone on my macbook? "
    No.
"The computer it is synced to is a dell"
So, copy everything from the Dell to the Mac.
Your iphone will be erased and the content replaced with the content from the new computer.  You need to amke sure that everything is on the new computer.

  • Transferring old iPhone 3G content from older Macbook Pro to new & iPhone 4

    Hi,
I would like to know what the most efficient way of moving all my old iPhone contacts and calendar etc. from my old Macbook Pro and iPhone 3G to my new MacBook Pro and iPhone 4?
It doesn't seem that straight forward?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

Use migration assistant to move everything from the old computer to the new.
    Iphone should sync as always.

    Do you mean Bluetooth?
If you are trying to activate your iPhone you need to use iTunes.
There's no need to "pair" an iPhone with a Mac. Syncing, restoring, backing up, apps/ music / photos etc., is all done with iTunes.
