Iphone 5 lock button no longer works

The power button/ lock screen button on the top of my phone stopped working. Is there a way for me to power on and off my phone? Also will Apple replace or fix this on my phone?

Take the iPhone to an Apple store genius bar...some of the US (at least) stores are now able to do in-store repairs so you get to keep your iPhone.

Please Help!!!! I have an ipod touch 4th gen. and since the last update the lock button no longer works, this has caused it to have a lot of problems now like freezing all the time, kicking me out of almost all my apps, some times even when if locks on its own its not locked and buttons with be pushed in my pocket, and this causes the battiery to die fast. Thank you for the advice for the lock screen, although useful it does not solve the problem of the buttons not working, really Apple should fix this even though it's over the 12 months, I have had many Iphones now but I've had many problems with them like buttons and screens, I am now going to get one of many other phones that are now as good as Apple Iphone If not better, Apple will be getting old now and competition is much higher , time to move on to the future of better phones )

Are you using a case to protect the iPhone? If you are try taking it off and seeing if the button works normally then.
If you don't have a case on the iPhone, try restarting or restoring the iPhone.
If that doesn't take care of it, the iPhone will need service.

Endless rebooting, lock button no longer works, restart comes up unwanted

Hello all! I tried to search online but I was not able to find an answer. My iPhone 3G 3.1.2 (recently updated but had similar problems with 3.0) is practically in unusable condition. It will no longer let me lock the phone, at times, it wants to restart on it's on non-stop and it will go to an endless rebooting cycle on its own. The only time I can stop the endless rebooting cycle is when I plug the iPhone to my computer or stereo integrated car jack. It appears that my phone works ok when it's plugged in but obviously this is an inconvenience. Is this a software issue or has something shorted on the inside? It seems to be getting worse and worse. I hope we can help each other by starting this discussion. Thank you all in advance!

first thing to try would be a reset, hold the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up.
If this does not solve your problem, restore "as new iphone" and don't use your backup to get your settings back, your backup may contain corrupt files causing this behavior.

Rotation lock button no longer works for iBooks

I just uploaded the new iOS4 to my iPad and then tried to read a book on iBooks while lying on my side. Apparently, the old rotation lock switch on the upper right side is now a mute switch. Have I lost the ability to prevent rotation of the screen?

I'm having the same problem and tried double clicking on the home key twice. There are no button on the left of the screen.

the button usualy didnt make much to press it. now its like its almost impossible to push it. you really have to hold it tightly to push the button. why is it like this? anyone else have this issue?

Told me to pick it up. When I gave it to them all components were working. Said because they weren't able to fix it there was no charge. Don't understand this.

Probably when you dropped, kicked, smashed, threw, or whatever you did to break your screen it also damaged the logic board and the connections to the volume button, headphone jack and sleep button. Happens all the time. Apparently the shop you selected to work on it is not very good so take them off your shopping list.
Then go buy a 5th Generation iPod Touch.

There is nothing you can do except take it back to the US. The warranty is not international and no authorized service center will touch your US phone in India.

My guess - and this is completely a guess - is that the SIM in that phone has a PIN that was added to it by the previous owner. Whomever you bought it from didn't bother to check for this (or didn't care) before they got it from the previous owner.
You need to get a new AT&T SIM for that phone - you could even borrow one from a friend if they have one that will fit the phone. You would only need the SIM to activate it.
There is no way to activate an iPhone without a SIM in it, even if you don't plan to use it as anything other than an iPod.

Warranty and support is only valid in the country of origin. The only exception being the EU where a device bought in any EU country can get warranty or service in any EU country.
Warranty is determined by device (serial number), no documentation required.
Apple does not repair devices, they replace them. For that reason, ensure the device is backed up and any pictures take with the device are copied off the device prior to going in for service.
