Thank you for asking your question! It sounds like your iPhone is not recognzied in iTunes when you connect it to back it up, or update the device. I would try the troubleshooting in either of these 2 articles depending on what operating system you have:

Did you try deleting it and re-scanning it? Also, do you have more than one finger scanned (like both Thumb and forefinger)? Because it is a good idea to have a couple scanned....

It also sometimes gives the message that this device is not supported by iPhone (although I have been using it for several years) with my UK and Ireland, Western Europe, and USA and Canada apps. Just replaced my 4 with a 4S rather than a 5, which won't fit the mounting kit.

From their web site Tom Tom actually offered a converter kit at one point however all it was a 3mm thick bit of plastic with a self adhesive tape backing!

Hi, my new iPhone 4s will not recognise some of my contacts. When I get a text or call from a someone in my contacts I see the number and not the name associated with that contact. The phone is on contract with Orange UK. I'd really appreciate any help.

This seems to only affect Verizon devices. If you are not using Verizon, this fix will not work for you.
Here is the summary of the steps I took to correct the issue:
1) Open the Phone and dial *228. This is a Verizon over-the-air programming number.
2) When the system answer press 1 for "Program or activate your phone"
3) Wait for the call to disconnect. You should get a prompt stating something like, "Settings updated."
4) Open the Task Manager and kill the Phone, Message, and Contacts Applications
5) Wait a few minutes (I waited 3 just to be extra safe)
6) Open the Message App to verify the fix.
If you are still broken, kill the Message App again, then reboot your phone.

When prompting me for my password for App updates & purchases the prompt refers back to my previous inactive username therfore it will not accept my password. If have triple checked my account information in apple id settings & even changed the password for a third time. Everything is removing itunes, installing the newest version. I have checked my battery level, and done the diagnosis testting of the itunes help menu. Strange thing is that it worker perfectly until last week.

Check the documentation for the Jawbone and put it in discovery mode. Turn bluetooth on for the iPhone and the Jawbone should show up on the phone. More than likely it will then ask for a passcode and that should be in the documentation as well. After that, they should be paired.
Use this link to go to the Jawbone ERA site if you need instructions on pairing. Select pairing with your phone and there is information on how to get the headset into pairing mode and the passcode.

Netflix is also don't let me play any movies.
I already reset the equipment, network is ok because some features of of apple tv are working fine such as renting from Itunes, Radio, Podcasts.

I'm using the latest itunes and a brand new 1080p Apple TV over a Linksys E4200 V2 network and having same issues. Just replaced my old apple TV with this new one yesterday.
I got it to work for a little while yesterday by uninstalling Itunes the reinstalling but how many times do you have to do that?
I can send pictures and video to Apple TV from my IPhone etc but not a chance with home sharing. Apple TV says turn home sharing on which it is.

Why is 50GB of music gone? All music should exist on the computer. Only a fool would rely on a single device which could easily be lost or stolen to store their content on.

I just figured out that it hasn't been backing up on the cloud like I thought either.... so it hasn't backed up anything to my computer since April and I have no idea the last time it backed up in the cloud.
Will this delete everything on my phone? How can I fix this without losing anything? I am mainly worried about my contacts.
Also - this was happending before I installed 6... I installed 6 hoping it would fix it... not so much.

This is a bad situation. Your iPhone is in a state which cannot be backed up, and the Restore will return iPhone to factory specs erasing it. You need to Restore your iPhone to get it working again. If you were experiencing problems before, maybe your iPhone is damaged. If still faulty, and you have Warranty or AppleCare take iPhone to Apple for evaluation. If no coverage and still faulty it may be time for new phone.
