IPhone 5 never completes sync

I just got an iPhone 5, and when I try to sync it up with a backup of my old iPhone 4 from iCloud it gets to the final step of the sync (Step 5 of 5: Waiting for changes to be applied) and just stays in the starting stage of this as if preparing to do the final stage. I've waited for around 20 minutes with no luck, and I have previously tried restoring the iPhone and starting again to no avail. I'm using the latest updates of both iTunes and iOS, can anybody help me out? thanks

iPhone 4 here, same issue.  I've turned off all my photos to be sent to the unit, but importing photos seems to be a problem.  I'm assuming that means importing from the iPhone.  I might restore from a backup and see if I can shove them back to the phone.
Have you solved this problem?
Cheers

    thx for the help,

    Hello Marcia,
Sorry you are having trouble syncing content with your iPhone 5. I found an article that might help with this syncing issue:
iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3219
Also, you can delete the songs from the iPhone without syncing by just swiping from left to right over the song to get a delete button.
    I hope this helps!

  • After installing the latest itunes/quicktime update, I can no longer access the itunes store and my iphone does not complete syncing. What can I do to fix this?

After installing the latest itunes/quicktime update I can no longer acces the itunes store nad my iphone does not complete syncing. What can I do to fix this?  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled windows updates. I have checked the firewall settings. what else?

The problem is with version 10.4.1.  I had to reload 10.3 to get it to work.  The recommendation from a previous poster worked for me.  Here was their list of steps:
    Go to Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall
    2.  Uninstall the following Apple programs in the following order:
         a. iTunes
         b. QuickTime
         c. Apple Software Update
         d. Apple Mobile Devices Support
         e. Bonjour
         f.  Apple Appllcation Support
    3.  Reboot PC
    4.  Find, Download and Install iTunes 10.3 (you can find it at FileHippo.com)
If you start iTunes now you will get an error message saying that the current iTunes library was created by a newer version of iTunes.  To correct this:
    5.  Go to your Music>iTunes folder and delete the "iTunes Library.itl" database file
    6.  Within this iTunes folder find and open the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder and locate the most recently dated "iTunes Library (date).itl" database file.
    7.  Copy and Paste this file back into the iTunes folder
    8.  Rename this "iTunes Library (date).itl" file by removing the date.  It should say "iTunes Library.itl"
    9.  Reboot PC

  • IPhone 3GS wont complete sync.

    16GB - 5.4gb free
    PC Win7-64
Any version of iTunes since 9.1 has seen this issue.
The device begins a sync operation but before it can complete it says "the device is unavailable".
I've spent money on support fees twice and more than 3 days with this issue. NO -- IT IS NOT THE PHONE!
All Since 9.1  Always some type of sync issue.. whether it fails to begin a sync or complete a sync.
If I wipe the phone entirely it will sync only the one time. After that - nothing.
I'm beginning to think Apple "bricked" these older phones to drive up new sales.
I will never buy another APPLE product again.

Try going through the error specific troubleshooting.

  • IPhone won't complete sync

i just replaced my iPhone 4 with another.
The new device is about 2 weeks old and has started acting a bit funny - i think
I'm using the latest update IOS 5.1
When i sync, the function wont complete even though all of the information appears to have transfered.
I'm also finding that the volume/ status bar in iTunes goes back to 0 and then jumps back to where it shoud be - very strange
    Any ideas?

I had this problem, it turned out to be a problem with the Photo's database for me.
Basically iTunes creates a cache in your photo directory called "iPod Photo Cache" delete this and then re-sync, you should find it then reindex's your photo's and then rebuilds the database.
let me know if this helps..?

  • Large folder never completes sync

    Hello All,
I have iFolder running now for a few weeks and i'm trying to understand it's behavior with synchronizing.
I have several iFolders set up and working just fine. Except for 1 iFolder, which is a grand total of 27 GB. When i look at whats happening on my iFolder server (VMware) i see the disk usage going up before it actually starts to sync (see this with all iFolders). However, on the large folder this never gets completed, and the file sync doesn't start. It feels like its stuck in a loop of indexing/initiating and then hitting some timeout and starting all over.
Can someone enlighten me on the inner workings and tell me what is going on and how i can fine tune this?
    Kind regards,
    Dennis

You could just hit Help-> About to get the actual version, if its not the current ( 3.8.4.1) you may want to upgrade to it.
Could you check the Simias.log from both client and server. This would give you the details of failure.
    >>> dennish123<[email protected]> 19-05-2011 04:06 >>>
    Thanks for your involvement.
Firstly, not sure which versions i'm exactly running. Think i'm pretty
bleeding edge, but let me know how to verify then i'll post the output.
I managed to figure out that the iFolder in question has id
"68f3d786-08d6-40a7-9d94-2a7686d1665e". Below is some output that is in
the log file. I started syncing from scratch this evening and on LAN in
stead of wireless. I noticed disk usage being high from about
11.33-11.42 and 11.56-0.03. I don;t have the graph data of before those
times, so no data to correlate with older logging. Network activity is
pretty much flat lining during these hard disk peeks, so it looks
something local to the server. I imagine it is looking for changes
    server side.
Log: (sudo cat Simias.access.log | grep
    68f3d786-08d6-40a7-9d94-2a7686d1665e)
I snatched just over last hour because of max forum mesage, where you
can see it stopped actually syncing data around 11.

  • Upgraded to Outlook 2007 and now my iPhone won't complete sync

My company just upgraded to Office 2007 and ever since I have been unable to complete a sync. I am syncing via USB/iTunes because my company does not support iPhones. I have read countless articles and try most of the fixes (as an end user I am limited in what changes I can make). Can anybody help me. I desperately need to be able to sync my work calendar with my iPhone.
    Operating System: Windows XP (SP3)
    Syncing Mechanism: USB through iTunes
    iPhone: Original
Error: It seems the syncing is getting hung up (Will say "syncing calendars with Renee's iPhone" for hours.

    Hi bonedaddio,
If you are unable to update your iPhone and it isn't being recognized by iTunes on your Mac, you may find the following articles helpful:

  • Iphone refuses to complete sync/install apps

    Hello everybody,
a week ago I recieved an Iphone (3G) that seemed broken, it didn't even start.
Well after some tries I managed to get it working (updated it to 3.0 now).
The problem now is that it won't sync properly... after a song or 6 it freezes. I tried an other pc (no macs in my house :/) and both the pc's had a 2.0 usb port.
I don't think this sync problem is related to the usb port because if I tried to dowload and install some apps from the app store, it begins downloading (OK), but then when it's installing that freezes too. After restarting my Iphone the app logo is gone too. And how could that be related to any usb ports? Maybe it's a combination of problems, I don't know.
I tried finding an solution, but it seems no one had those problems combined.
Ow yeah this is what I already tried:
    -Other pc
    -Other usb pot
    -Other usb cable
-Reïnstall Itunes (8.1/8.2 beta/8.2 all tried them)
    -Reset Phone
    -Restore Phone (both pc's)
-Restore Phone in DFU (both pc's)
-Sync in little amounts (works sometimes, but this still isn't normall)
-Trying to sync iphone running on diffent firmware
If you have questions about my situation, just post them.
Someone who experienced this? Does someone know a solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Yoda

Unlucky enough for me, I think it's possibility 2 :/ My iPhone/Itunes still crash while syncing after reauthorizing my iTunes account.
I have maybe another possible cause of this problem though. The back-up file which I used to reload my info on this iPhone was from a 16Gb iPhone... This is a 8Gb iPhone. Is it possible that that's causing syncing problems?
But I'll probably have to take it to the store, only downside is that I'll lose my phone for about 4 weeks because the service in Belgium suck for the iPhone.
Anyways thanks merryone for your response.

  • IPhone will not complete sync...please help!

I'm trying to help a client with his iPhone woes, every time I sync with his computer, I get the follwing error (or one similar to it):

This error comes up either when I'm syncing his photos or his contacts.
I've cleared the sync history a number of times, but this issue always comes back to bite me. This is on a Sony Vaio running Windows XP SP2 with Microsoft Outlook 2003. Any help is apprecitated!

    Android23,
I would uninstall and reinstall all components listed in the following article:

    Hope this helps,

  • IPhone 4 won't complete sync since iOS 5.0

My unlocked iPhone 4 wont completely sync with iTunes since I have upgraded to iOS 5.0.
USB & Wi-Fi sync both produce same results.
It gets stuck in "step 8 of 8" forever

I struggled with my computer and itunes not recognizing my phone for a week and here's what i finally found that worked for me.
if you have windows go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?l=en- us&s=apple&page=2&type=Hardware and download the Apple Iphone 4 hardware.
then, if it doesn't automatically take you here, go to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL926
    and download that.
Let me know if it works for you.

  • 3g iphone syncs for hours while but never completes

I have a 3g iphone which indicates it is syncing but never completes. I have worked with the online support as well as my local genius office, with no luck in resolving these issues. I have deleted my bookmarks to see if that would resolve the problem with the syncing only to have the problem occurs while syncing the contacts. I am not getting any error messages.

If your back up continually fails, you might try turning off back up on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup) and then deleting the backup file from iCloud by swiping the backup file on the mobile device (settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage…) and then turning back up on again.
Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.

  • I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? Please help!

I accidentally synced my mum's brand new iPad to my mac book air. A few days later I realised that my iTune library on my mac is completely gone. So is my iPhone 4s after I synced it with my mac. How do I get my old iTunes library back? I tried using icloud on my iphone but it stated that I have never back up my phone before. So I guess my iCloud data is gone too? But I have back up my mac in my harddrive using time machine. So how do I get my old itune library back? Please help! Thanks!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • IPhone never finishes syncing

I have an iPhone 3G and all of a sudden, I am unable to complete a sync. The iTunes will stop responding in the middle of it as it says "Finishing Sync". I tried my other PC and it did the same thing. No music or ringtones will sync either. I tried just one song. It wiped out my songs already on my iPhone. What can I do to get iTunes to finish syncing? Could it be my phone? I have yet to download Ver 4.1. I am too scared.

After browsing through several similar posts, "https://discussions.apple.com/message/11273586#11273586" got me to try to un-sync contacts. That got the sync to finish as before. Further posts seemed to indicate that a corrupt file would cause this never ending sync. I think that's true since not syncing the contacts fixed the problem. I don't know how to fix corrupt contacts.
    Anybody have a suggestion.

  • Iphone 3gs backup never completes

backup never completes; v v v v slowwww; even after 10 hours overnight. now on attempting to install os 3.1.2, backup starts, after 10 hours still backing up, black bar hardly 20%, have to end the process.

I had that problem with my iphone when I got back from a recent trip where I used MotionX GPS quite a bit. I didn't think of clearing the cache on it. I ended up taking most of my 185 apps off the iPhone, only leaving a few that I had data I didn't feel like putting in from scratch. I then ran backup and it successfully backed up, Then I added 80 off those apps again. One of them was MotionX GPS and now the phone backs up and syncs in 3 minutes.
