Iphone 5 north American iphone in europe help!
Hi, so I have an iphone 5 and I bought it in Canada two weeks before coming to Europe, I'm only here for two weeks but when I turned one my phone in Amsterdam "activation required" on the lock screen then wont let me do anything on the phone, see I've read that iphones made in the US don't seem to work in Europe I'm just worried that if I go back it will do the same. Will it just go back to normal when I go back, or do I have to go in and get it fixed ??
Not doing anything with Windows, I am afraid that I will have to bail out on your thread now.

All iPhones can be used anywhere as long as you're willing to pay the high roaming charges. To use it with a local carrier SIM card, the phone has to be officially unlocked.
FYI, there is no such thing as a "North American" iPhone. Phones are sold by country. It the US there are CDMA phones sold as well as GSM. The CDMA iPhone 4S (not the iPhone 4) (Verizon and Sprint) can be used in Europe GSM carrers on a roaming basis. Verizon will unlock the GSM for use with a local SIM under certain circumstances. Sprint does not. -
Using a North American iBook in Europe
I have a 600Mhz 14 inch G3 snow iBook. It needs a new AC adapter. It also needs to be able to work in France. What is the best way to equip this Canadian/North American iBook to work in both North America and France?

That one will work. So will Apple's, if you want one with the glowing ring.
You will need an adapter plug for the adapter so your North American adapter will plug into French outlets. Those who have traveled abroad say you can get these adapters in airport shops around the world. It will look something like this. I've even seen them at WalMart (in the luggage section, but I'm not sure you have WalMarts in Canada).
Apple sells the World Travel Adapter Kit, but that may be more than you need.

Using a North American PowerBook in Europe (Istanbul, Turkey)?

My wife is traveling to Istanbul (Turkey) with work and she'll be bringing my PowerBook 12" with her. It looks like Istanbul uses the same electricity type as France (220V at 50 Hz with a double-pinned round plug) so I don't imagine there should be any problem plugging in the PowerBook while there as long as she's using the correct adapter to convert the North American plug-type to the type needed. We were in Paris last year and had no problems, so I'm thinking it should be the same with Istanbul, but would appreciate any advice anyone may have?
And, while I've never read anything definitive to confirm this, is it true that the power bricks that come with the PowerBook actually convert the power so as to be able to use it in different parts of the world (as long as you have a plug adapter)? Like I said, I've had no problems doing this in the past, so I assume this is true, but again, just wondering if anyone knows for sure?

To answer this question you can always look at the label on the power supply (of any appliance, not just Macs). If it only says 120, it's only going to work on US-type power grids and you'll need a transformer too. If it says something like 100-240 volts, it's good anywhere in the world and you only need an adapter, no transformer.
My brick has labels on two sides and the voltage range is listed on only one of those, so if you don't see it, turn it around.
You might consider an adapter with a surge protector if the power quality at the destination might be unstable. -
I will be in Spain for 10 days and want to know what the best plan of action is for keeping my expense down while using my iphone. I want to use it ONLY for web connection. When you have an internet connection via wi-fi or the cellular network, it is your choice to select the Mail application or not, but you should turn automatic check for new email to Manual, and if you have an email account that supports Push access, Push access for the account should be turned off.
Data Roaming with the iPhone is turned off by default.
Wi-Fi access there is probably like like it is in the U.S. There are free hotspots such as at hotels for paid guests, and the same at some restaurants. There will be some paid locations with the daily fee fluctuating depending on the location.
If you don't want to place or recieve any calls and the same for SMS, turn Airplane mode on followed by turning wi-fi access on. -
Sending North American MBP to Europe?

I am considering to give my 1 year old MBP to my friend in Europe.
So I am wondering: because this machine was purchased in North America, would all it's functions working in Europe? (Including internet, possibility to do repairs if necessary, etc.)
Thank you for your advise.All Mac's are international machines so your friend could easily use your machine. Depending on what country they're in they may have to localize it however that is a simple task. The power requirements on MBP's are 100V-240V so that would be fine too, at the most they would need a plug adapter. If your MBP is covered by AppleCare or any remaining warranty that would also follow the machine as they are tied to the serial number not the owner.
That's very kind of you to consider doing this and if you decide to do so I'm sure your friend will have many years of enjoyment.

You just need to get an adapter for the plug pins
No need for a voltage adapter, just look for 120/240 50/60Hz on the label and if you do see it you're set for North American power. -

Is reliance a supported carrier for the iPhone? If not, you will be unable to get facetime to activate.

The error message you're seeing is likely the other way around -- i.e. something like "This iPhone has previously been synced with a different computer". There's no problem syncing multiple iOS devices to the same computer.
However, the reverse is not true for the iPhone -- you cannot connect an iPhone to another computer without it being erased, even if you manually manage music and video. So, it sounds like you've been syncing your iPhone to a different computer?
Also, 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the latest iOS. -

Then you'll have to use another iOS device or Mac running OS X Lion or higher to create a new account for you to use on your phone. If you don't have one, perhaps a friend would allow you to create and account on their device (note: this will use one of their three maximum accounts). To do this, they would need to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which will delete the account from their device but not from iCloud), then allow you to sign back in with your ID to create the new account. Then tap Delete Account to delete the new account from their device, and finally, sign back in with their iCloud ID to restore their iCloud account to their device. Then you can sign in with your ID on your phone in Settings>iCloud and use the new account.

It's strange because I can change my AppleID country without this message.
So what to do? Just try to do this again, but on another device. You may also erase cookies and history of your browser.

I purchased an audiobook in Nov 2012 using iPhone 4S and then upgraded to iPhone 5 in Dec. Now I am not seeing the audio book in purchase history in iTunes. This means I am not able to get the book in my new iPhone. Please help.
Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store. If the TV Show is downloaded on your iPad, you don't need Wi-Fi to watch it.

How do I get my music from Media Center to my iphone 4s. Itunes 10.5 won't import the MC music library, and MC won't recognize and synch to the iphone plugged into the USB port so I can't load playlists from MC to my iphone. Itunes help doesn't work.

As you know, your iPhone 5 is not compatible with our iBook G4. To get your music in iTunes from your iBook to your iPhone you would need to migrate the music files to a newer intel based Mac. A Mac which has Mac OS X 10.6 or higher installed. Then sync your iPhone 5.
