IPhone 5 not sending messages through to some of my contacts

My son and I both got iPhone 5's last Wednesday. Our settings are identical, yet I have a few friends on my contact list who are not receiving my texts (I deleted them and re added them making sure the area code was included). No luck. My son can text them from his phone and they receive his...strange. I have iMessage and wifi turned off. I've tried it numerous ways....even a restore! I can do a hard reboot then text my friend....SHE GETS IT! And will text me letting me know, however if I respond back she goes back to not getting them. What is going on?? Have been on tech support several times and they tell me to return the phone cause they don't know. It took 3 weeks to get my phone and of course our Verizon store have none in stock. Is it really the phone or carrier? Been on support with both! Anyone else with this problem?

I think I fixed it!!!! I had two friends in particular who wasn't getting my texts. This is what I did,
1) Hard reboot....which means hold your home button and power button down at same time and hold until apple sign appears.
2) Delete any texts and conversations from the person/s not receiving your texts.
3) Delete these people completely from your contacts
4) Re enter them, making sure you include the area code.
5) Send them a text
I should note that I have Wifi and iMessage off when I texted my 2 friends. They both rec'd my texts and we texted back and forth to make sure it was all good....appears so!!!!! Will try it tomorrow with iMessage and Wifi on.
I hope this works for you and anyone else having this problem! Let me know! :)

  • Why can I receive but not send messages through Mail?

I recently installed a wireless router (linksys). I can send mail at the local coffee shop, yet here at home I can't. I know it's something very simple, but I'm giving up...and asking for help in fear of tweaking the settings beyond my knowledge. I get a popup that tells me I can't use the listed server for outgoing mail. I have a couple choices...1) lynksys 2)stmp.mac.com:tugboater.
I wish I could get it set up...Its annoying to have to use mt yahoo address.
    Heelllppp!

Help! I have read through this string, but not found an answer. I too, can receive emails but not send them. The problem started last week - I've been successfully using my mail account for 2 years and then last week, stuff I send just disappears - no error messages. I didn't change any settings or do any updates. All sent messages show in my "sent" folder, as well. I have tried everything, including restoring my hard drive from a backup copy made before I was having difficulty.
I used suggestions in the online help, including using the "ping" function to see if I was communicating with my outgoing mail server. Trying to ping mail.mac.com I get the error message:
    "PING mail.mac.com (17.250.248.152): 56 data bytes
    --- mail.mac.com ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100% packet loss
I am using mail and .mac mail through a cable DSL line and Airport wireless connection.
I tried changing my outgoing port to 110 and to 25 without help.
    Any thoughts?

  • Not sending email through with outlook 2013 saved contact

Few of my clients users are having an issue with the Auto-Complete option in Outlook 2013 where recipients don't receive mail if you choose the address from from the Outlook address book vcard. This issue only occurs on outlook 2013 and this is creating
a lot of issue with my clients. The attached pic shows the issue that occurs.
The issue doesn't occur if you manually type the email address. Also we tried with different emails and config pop/imap and it produced the same result. Kindly help as this is causing lots of issue.
E.g. If we send an email using outlook address's vcard at 'To' and 'cc' user by typing email-> cc user will receive email showing 'To' section empty :S and 'To' user will not receive any email..
     Some details to help:
Office version: 2013 click to run
    Windows 7 SP1

    Hi Nabbo,
Either your address book service is broken that why it’s not enabling and creating error when you are using Auto-Complete option (choosing contacts from
    Vcard).
    Solutions:
    1.) Create a new profile
2.) Or sometimes it’s happens, when contacts are not verified so first verified your address book contacts.

  • Why wont my iphone 4 32GB send messages to just one person

My iPhone will not send messages to my boyfriend and him only although i can receive his texts messages, i am on an irish network called 3 but he is on one called vodafone ( also irish) it is only his phone who cant receive my texts and i have tried everything that i have looked up on the internet icluding putting a number @ the end of his to get his orignal num and send to that i have trie turning my phone on and off i have tried group messages but none of this is working, as you can guess this is extremely frustrating and espicially so seen as i paid alot of money for this phone and expect it to actually work!!!!! im looking for good clear advice that someone who doesnt know all the technical bits of the phone to can understand and implement this to make my phone work please!!

If you get a red ( not sent ) warning when you send to the same person, but will send to others, then delete all messages from that person from phone and try again. Worked for me. You may have to delete all messages from everyone completly as i had to to solve problem so it would send to one friend.

Hi, I am wondering why my iphone won't send pictures through messages, I have MMS on and I have tried sending it with 3G on aswell and still doesn't work. Someone please help me :)

    Hey lozza567,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are experiencing issues sending MMS messages. The following resource may provide a solution:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2755
Issues with sending and receiving MMS
You will need these to send and receive MMS:
    - An iPhone 3G or later.
    - iOS 3.1 or later.
    - A cellular data connection. MMS isn't available if you are using only Wi-Fi.
    - A domestic MMS plan from your cellular provider. You may need an international messaging plan to send MMS to an international contact. Contact your carrier for more information.
    - A roaming MMS when using a cellular provider's network different from your billing cellular provider's network. Learn more about roaming and contact your carrier for more information.
To resolve issues with sending and receiving MMS, follow these steps first
    1. Go to Settings and turn airplane mode off.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn MMS Messaging on.
    3. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Cellular Data on.
    4. Go to Settings > Cellular and turn Data Roaming on if you are roaming on a cellular provider network different from your billing provider's network.
    5. Verify that you have a cellular data connection in the status bar at the top left of your iPhone.
    6. Go to Settings and turn Wi-Fi off. Open Safari and navigate to www.apple.com to verify that you have a data connection. Turn Wi-Fi back on to continue using Wi-Fi for other features. If your cellular data connection isn't available, follow these steps.
    7. Verify that you can send and receive SMS. If you are unable to send and receive SMS, see the "Issues with sending and receiving SMS" section, above.
    8. MMS may not be available while on a call. Only 3G and faster GSM networks support simultaneous data and voice calls. Learn more about which network your phone supports.
    9. Restart your iPhone.
    10. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
    11. Reseat your SIM card.
If you are still unable to send or receive MMS, follow these steps
    1. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
    2. Go to Settings > Messages and turn on group messaging if you are sending a group message.
    3. Make sure that you are using the area code with the contact's phone number. When sending messages internationally, you also need the contact's international code.
    4. Verify a "Pay as you go" MMS plan has enough available balance. Contact your carrier if unsure of your MMS plan or available balance.
    5. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
    6. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact from the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
    7. Back up and restore your iPhone as new.
    8. If your carrier has recently ported your phone number, the porting process may not be complete. Contact your carrier to confirm that the porting process is complete.
    9. Contact your carrier to verify that you are provisioned to send SMS and are in an area with cellular coverage.
    10. Contact your carrier to verify that there are no blocks or filters placed on your wireless account preventing you from sending SMS.
    11. Your carrier may require APN settings to be modified to use MMS. Learn more about when you should adjust APN settings.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
