How do I delete the Tax Software and AOL icons from my Safari Screen? Also, is it possible to set-up the phone as it had been so BING opens up when the browser(Safari) icon is pressed on the Home screen?
Lastly, how can I see the entire month of events as previously in Calendar?
Is there a description of OS7 functionality anywhere?

I just got an iPad.
In the Safari app: how you do delete something that was added to the FAVORITES of the Safari screen? Not the factory installs of Apple, Disney, ESPN, and YAHOO!, but something that was accidently Bookmarked to that location?
The "hold-it-til-it-wiggles-then tap-the-X" method does not apply here, so please give me something else.

Mail on my iPhone and iPad no longer works on wifi. If I turn wifi off I can connect over the cellular network. I have tried deleting my AOL account and setting it up again as a new account but I still have the same problem.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Hmm... looks like this is an issue for that email provider for some reason.
A user in a bt.com forums recommends turning off Push Emails settings.

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data > Turn Push Off.
Coudln't hurt to try it and see if the issue resolves itself.

Where did this come from and how do I get rid of it. The number is printed in read on top of the blue and white emaiI icon. I contacted my cable company and through their website I can check my email. In doing this it showed I had 25 unread emails. Also, my iPad 2 is receiving emails fine. So the problem is with the iPhone 4. What can I do to get rid of the number and make my mail operational?

I would start with taking a look at the settings to make sure that you are able to send and receive messages. If everything looks good then the next step would be to remove the accounts and add them back in. They can't be deleted so one of 3 things happened:
1) You moved them into folders or to different pages. Reset the home screen layout if you can't find them. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
2) You set up restrictions on them. Settings>General>restrictions.
3) You added an Exchange account for which the administrator has specifically prohibited the use of Internet browsers and cameras on phones.
The only thing you can do in case 3 is remove the Exchange account and appeal to your IT department to change the policy.

@Oversoul; once you have verified the portrait orientation lock is off so that the device can go into landscape mode try this:
Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings
This will not delete any of your device content but it will remove any changes that may have occurred that may have caused the issue with your orientation lock.
Try pulling up Control Center by swiping up from the bottom center of your screen, and then clicking on the little lock icon. That will enable and disable Orientation Lock.

Safari always opens with "Welcome to Safari" screen. Home page not saved.

After a clean reinstall of Yosemite on our mid-2010 iMac and an upgrade to Safari 8.0.2, my partner is greeted with the "Welcome To Safari" screen each time he launches Safari.
In addition, his home page is not saved and the Favorites bar, which is set to be displayed by default, does not show.
My own Safari experience is unaffected.
Has anybody else experienced this and any suggestions on how to fix it?

Delete cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
Press the “Remove All Website Data” button.
It will take a while to finish.
Empty Caches
Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
Safari > Preferences > Extensions
Turn those extensions one by one and test.
Delete safari .plist file.
Quit all applications. Click on an empty spot on the desktop to activate Finder.
Hold the “Option” key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
Select “Library” from the drop down.
Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist
Right click it and select "Move to Trash". Close Finder window.
Please don’t empty the Trash.
Restart. Launch Safari
If this doesn’t help, right click the Trash icon in the Dock and select “Open”.
Right click the com.apple.Safari.plist and select “Put Back”.

Can not delete Fox news icon from Safari Favorites Bar, keeps coming back

I can not delete "Fox news" icon from Safari Favorites Bar. Dogpile Search engine also. Both keep coming back with icons upon new opening of Safari.
I have removed these icons from the Book Mark files and Favorites Bar menu and any reference in the LIbrary and replaced them with less spammy evercookie news and search engines 3 times to no avail. I just upgraded Safari (April 2014) and it made no difference. These sites represent the paradigm I

Thank you for trying but no not the problem. Had the same problem with Iphone 4S. Would not connect to my mail server and tried to send me to fraudulent website in the UK/England.
I did a restore to factory restore to the phone with upgrade to newest operating system, my was up to date until OS 7 as I heard there were problems. Now it has OS 7.
Neither I nor verizon could get the phone up and connected for service again. Taking phone to
apple store on Tues.
I am suspecting the "heart bleed" vulnerability.

Ever since I put the latest update on my iPhone (not the iTunes update, the next one) Safari regularly "crashes." Also, if other apps are running, i.e. iPod, they typically crash first, then Safari and iPhone goes to home screen. Anyone else having similar issues or know of any solutions?
