Iphone 5 Otterbox Defender Case...Only Black?

So they are showing an otterbox defender case for the Iphone 5 on verizons website but the only color is black, but right below the description they show part numbers for the other colors.  Any reason they are not offering the other colors yet, they are all over the otterbox site already and i get a good discount here at verizon that i would like to take advantage of.

I preordered mine from Otterbox.  They sent an email last week and I ordered immediately.  I liked the color (aqua) and I got the commuter series (I had the Defender, but it is way to bulky for me).  I think it is worth it not to deal with the hassle of a store unless you live in an area where you think there will be a good supply.  Good luck.

  • Otterbox defender case sometimes prevents touch screen operation

My Droid charge screen goes black during or at the end of a phone call and no amount of touching the screen or pushing the buttons on the phone anywhere makes any difference.  I have to take the rubber covering off and open the Otterbox case to get the screen to light back up.  Everything on the screen is exactly where it would have been without the case when I do this and I can close the phone conversation and get the phone back to the main screen, then put it all back together in the case again.  I could understand if the Otterbox screen was too thick to allow me to touch the phone pad keys on the screen, but why can't any of the external buttons override this for me?  It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to make it somewhat annoying, as the phone call remains connected until I get thru the process of removing it from the case.  Someone on the other end has probably been the recipient of some carefully chosen epithets as I struggled to get the phone call disconnected from my end, I'm sure.
I'm happy with this phone, don't get me wrong, but I need to know if anyone else has had this experience and how they are dealing with it.  I have to use the phone in my construction work, so the Otterbox is also a necessity.

Has anyone else had trouble with screen sensitivity on the Otterbox Defender case for the iPhone 3GS? I've had mine on for a few days and have a hard time getting the screen to respond when I try to touch buttons on the edges of the screen.
Are you saying that removing the phone from the Otterbox solves this problem? Very strange, if so.

  • LifeProof or Otterbox Defender Case

I really need some help deciding between the Lifeproof or Otterbox Defender case for the iPhone 4s. Please!

LIFEPROOF BUYER BEWARE!  If you are considering a case for your iPhone know that lifeproof has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!  One example,  Purchased a lifeproof 4s pink case for Christmas present for $80. My daughter just broke phone so we purchased iPhone 5. Instead of returning unopened Sealed case asked to switch to a different color for my sons phone( said any color that isn't a girl color). Was told that they would not and never do give color exchanges for any reason. I couldn't believe I wasn't even asking for a refund JUST a color change.
Contacted LIFEPROOF about issue On phone for an hour explaining what ridiculous policy this is.
I just purchased between sister and myself four iPhone 5' s for Christmas. I explained that I will be buying all OTTER BOX for my phones.  He said sorry that is their policy.
Went to AT&T with the receipt from their store and asked to exchange for different color they could see the box was sealed and said sorry they can't change color it is lifeproof policy.  I have never heard of something soooo ridiculous.  I have heard many bad stories from friends about their customer service and some damage problems not to mention I once purchased a lifeproof on amazon only to find out it was counterfeit. That is not their fault but just something to be worried about when purchasing a lifeproof.  If you aren't sure go OTTERBOX

  • Does your home button feel "mushy" at times if you have the Otterbox Defender case on?

I recently installed an Otterbox iPhone 5 Defender case onto my iPhone 5 (Obviously)
I don't know if it's just me but whenever I press the Home button, I don't get much of a click. I understand that the Otterbox protects the Home button & also covers it in a lot of rubber, but should it feel "mushy"?   Lol
I might be just a little neurotic considering I just got the phone.
Just want to know what others think about this! I'm used to that nice loud 'click' without the case!!!
    Thanks

Every single iphone I have ever owned has had a Defender Otterbox.  The rubber is very flexible and pliable, so it does absorb the click.  However, it does not affect the function of the home button.

  • Has anyone noticed that the Otterbox Defender case for the Droid Maxx is not manufactured correctly?

After ordering 2 cases from Otterbox directly, and having to send both of them back, I called a Verizon store and had them compare the Otterbox Defender case for the Droid Maxx to the actual phone.  They were surprised to note that the hole for the camera on the case (to the left of the speaker) was on the opposite side of the camera on the phone (to the right of the speaker).  And, there is no hole for the camera's sensor on the Otterbox case.

Then return it to an Apple Store and complain and if neccessary get your money back

  • Otterbox Defender case available

Has anyone purchased this case yet?
Does anyone know if Verizon will carry this case?

I just got off the phone with a rep in the local VZW store.  She didn't say for sure, but it sounded like she said she found a product code number for the Thuderbolt Otterbox Defender case in there system.  None of the stores within 100 miles had the case currently but she took my information so she could call when it does show up.
She sounded pretty confident that they would be carrying the case, and it is just a matter of time before they have it in stock.
They do care some Otterbox cases for a few of the phones they have.  All I can find on the web site are BlackBerry otterbox cases, but they do cary the brand.
I do like the Seido case, especially since it works with the extended battery, however, I like the Otterbox better because of the built in screen protector.  It offers a little better protection against the elements than the Seido case.  I can use my phone outside when it is raining without fear of rain getting down around the screen and into the phone as easily (still have to be careful of moisture regardless).
I also use the standard battery most of the time anyway.  My normal routine has me pretty close to power when I need it.  I also don't have as big of a problem with battery life as it seems many others are having.
With the standard battery I get 10 to 12 hours of standby/light to moderate use.  If I am surfing the web or using the phone more heavily the battery life drops but I generally get at least 4 to 6 hours out of it.
If I use the phone heavily that drops to around 2 to 2.5 hours but I rarely use my phone that heavily.
I have the extended battery as a backup.  I know I'll find times that I need to use that extra power and in those cases I'll simply have to strip the case off the phone and use it naked until I can get the standard battery charged back up.  I accept that as a acceptable downside of having a laptop in my pocket at all times...
And on top of it, I get a nice discount on accessories through the company I work for so the price is right in my range for the items VZW carries....

  • Otterbox Defender Case Issues

I have the Otterbox Defender Case for the Droid Maxx. I had the same case type for the Galaxy S3 phone, and had no problems getting the phone in and out of the plastic outer shell (belt clip). With the Droid Maxx on the other hand, if I need to answer a call or do anything with the phone, I find that I have to take the entire casing from my belt and use both hands to get the phone out of the belt clip. The same thing is the case when trying to put the phone back in. I have to get the bottom half inside the outer belt clip and then sort of force the top half in.
In looking at both defender cases side by side, there is a significant design change. The S3 defender case has a closed bottom and the top half is open with two corner pieces. In the middle of the case where the belt clip is located, there is a plastic piece that is used as 'lever' to easily insert and remove the phone.
The defender case for the droid maxx is completely open all around except for four corner pieces. There is nothing in the middle to get the phone in and out of the case. I contacted Otterbox and they first sent me a reply back with warranty claim information. The second reply included a video on how to remove the case if I want to remove the casing and to the phone. The third reply from Otterbox informed me that they didn't get pictures from the first reply. I called Otterbox, but they were unable to explain the reason for the design change.
Is it just me or is there anyone else experiencing difficulty with the defender case?

I notice this issue using the case however I didnt notice it until 4.1 and I removed all plastic on the front facing camera and the plastic over the proximity sensor I also removed the plastic covering the screen didn't fix the problem at all

  • PLEASE someone tell me where to buy iphone dock that allows for otterbox defender case

I bought defender case ( otterbox) love its protection ( bought because first iphone 6 screen cracked/ owned the 4s and 5s and never ever cracked screen before this one!) small drop out of pocket, anyhow, none of my docks/cradles etc will hold phone now with otterbox case, I bought a Kidgi but it did not work, had to struggle using two hands to get phone onto it, and the cord kept falling out, sent it back.  So now, I have no idea where or what to buy as my new iphone 6 charging dock /cradle that will enable me to leave my otterbox case on ( takes forever to get that case off, good protection though) please tell me if you know where or what cradle/dock I can buy ( link if possible) Thanks

This was a kickstarter project project - they released a version of this and are now working on version 2 - its designed to work with most cases
( i have no financial interest in the company - i just supported their kickstarter projects)

  • Otterbox Defender Case of iPhone 4S

I bougth a Otterbox Defender and used it for 1 week............it is great for iPhone protection but in the included holster (plastic), it is just too bulky to carry around on the belt.  Love the protection...hate the bulkiness.
Now bought a very thin rubber case that adds very little to thickness or weight.  Need a holster that will fix the iPhone 4S.  Tried the BB case and the width is A-OK but the length is too short.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
Oh, and make me an offer for the Otterbox plus shipping and it's your for a decent offer.

I have no problem with eBay.  Just offering if someone on this forum wanted a real good deal.
But, I digress.  Googling what???  Holster with rubber casing around iPhone 4S?  You try it and see what you get.  I tryed it.
If you want to give info........please try and give useful info.
I asked a question and if anyone had done this before they would have the information to help.  Your info is useless.  No one needs a SA remark.
But, I will thank you anyway.

Is there a covering over the area near the speaker and front facing camera on this case that could affect the Proximity Sensor issues being reported? Its hard to tell from the photos. Can anyone comment on this yet?

Towards the bottom of the screen at the link above is a pdf you can download. Open it and enlarge the image and you will get a clearer picture of the opening for the prox sensor.

Hi I had this problem with my wifes case, my defender worked fine, turned out it was her white inner case. Did you get the Pink on white one? If so, I've been told you can color in the proximity sensor area of the defender with a black sharpie (on the white part) and that shouold fix your problem.
I just tried that as I have her case here still and coloring the proximity sensor area black worked.

  • Otterbox Defender Case causing Proximity Sensor issues

I think the otter box defender case offers the best protection for my Iphone4 but I also think it is causing my proximity sensor issue. I cant make a call without the screen becoming active. I have surgically removed the built-in screen protector (and the associated glue) but I think I need to remove the small plastic pieces that cover the front facing camera and the sensor. Or I will try another case that doesn't cover the sensor. Has anyone else noticed this issue with the Otterbox case?

I notice this issue using the case however I didnt notice it until 4.1 and I removed all plastic on the front facing camera and the plastic over the proximity sensor I also removed the plastic covering the screen didn't fix the problem at all

  • Otterbox defender case, How is it?

    Hello,
    anyone have the
    IPHONE 4 / 4S DEFENDER SERIES WITH REALTREE® CAMO
I am thinking of getting it.

I've tried several cases for the iPhone 4S; imo, the best ones (by far) are the 'Seidio' cases.  I carry a lot of stuff in my pockets, so I always carry my phone in a holster, on my belt - I've had a lot of bad experiences with cheap, flimsy holsters, so I was really pleased when I found the Seidio holster!
I'm currently using a protective screen-film plus the Seidio 'Surface' case (the most compact of the three Seidio cases), and it's great - all the cut-outs are very accurate, the case fits perfectly, the case's material is top-quality, and the holster is well made, with a tough, reliable spring-clip.  Seidio makes two other cases: the 'Active' model and their ultra-tough mil-spec 'Convert' model, which is really two cases in one - it's an extra layer of silicone shock-absorber (with dust-seals for all the cut-outs), that goes over a Surface case.
    I hope this helps...

  • Docking station compatible with Otterbox defender case??

Realized after I bought Otterbox protector yesterday that it doesn't fit my docking station with it on.......  Mine is a front docking station so it simply is too bulky to fit with the otterbox on.  Would a top docker fit or will it still be too bulky on the bottom to connect?

Or if you really didn't want to spend that type of money @ Radioshack, just pick up one of these from eBay:
