IPhone 5 outgoing messages frozen on one thread
Messaging on my iPhone 5 (IOS 8.2; AT&T) is generally working fine but there is a hangup on one joint message thread to my daughters. Message line says "Sending 1 of 3" but it has been frozen for a couple days; nothing will go out. I can't find a way to cancel whatever 3 messages it is referencing as being sent. No incoming messages on that combined thread, either. I can send to them individually but not on the shared thread. This is a new problem and we've been communicating on this tread for a long time. No issues with other threads. Both daughters have iPhones - both 6s, I think. How can I resolve this? Thanks.
Try Reset by Holding both Power and Home Buttons together till Apple logo appears.
If this does not help, seek an appointment at the Genius bar for evaluation and possible replacement.

I tried sending an email with approximately 300 recipients in the BCC line. It was rejected with "The server “smtp-server.stny.rr.com” did not recognize the following recipients:". It then listed all 300 or so of the recipients. This message page is overlaid on the original outgoing message.
The overlay can't be moved so I can get to the original message and edit the recipient list. The overlaid message continues below the edge of the screen, so I can't get to the bottom of it (scrolling doesn't work on the overlay) where there's typically a set of buttons to edit the message.
You can't drag the message to the trash. Shutting down and restarting does not make it go away. There is no function on any of the Safari menus that works in relation to this problem (ie, delete, etc). Even the little "x" button (delete) in the upper left corner of the rejected message is grayed out and can't be used (but the minimize/maximize buttons do work).
The only thing I can do is put it on the dock. Everything else (other applications, etc) functions fine when I do that, including incoming and outgoing mail. I've previously divided the recipients into 4 groups and sent 4 emails to reach everyone, so that's the only difference in the way I sent this email. Clearly the problem is the number of recipients, since that's the only change.
The issue is entirely not being able to get rid of this message and having to live with it forever on my dock. Any suggestions?Hello ketcheeup,
Group messaging is one of the most efficient way to communication with multiple people at once. This is SUPER convenient when communicating with co-workers. May I ask have you tried the step that Ann154 provided? Thanks Ann154. If so then what's the results? If you can advise us on the status of the issue then we can help, if more is needed.
Thank you...

Monitering Multiple Sockets in one thread
Hi all
i have a problem.....i want to create and moniter multiple sockets BUT Due to resourse problems i cannot create as many threads. I want to use multiple sockets in one thread.
Cani do something where i can have array of sockets and poll for data in a single while loop for all the sockets...OR u may suggest another solution for my porblem of using multiple sockets in one thread.
thanks in advance
Sai BurraHere's a pseudocode solution I've used:
Create a thread to listen to incoming connections. Upon incoming connection, add the socket and inputstream to the incoming messages listener thread.
Create a threadpool for outgoing messages.
Create a thread to process incoming messages.
Incoming message listener thread:
Create a hashtable of sockets. Socket is the key, inputstream is the value.
Loop through each key, and assuming BufferedReader input you can poll by using (input.isReady()). If isReady() returns true, that means there is data on the stream coming in, so you'll need to process it.
After processing the data, call a thread from your outgoing messages threadpool to send the response - in case there is blocking, you'll still be able to process the rest of your data.
Sleep the incoming messages thread for 200 ms (300-400ms is quite adequate for real time processing I've found, at least the slowdown isn't noticable).
This should work for what you're talking about. -
Ever since I upgraded to iOS7 just two of my contacts I get two message threads for them. One containing their iMessages to me and the other with just regular sms messages. In Contacs, their email and phone number are saved under one name. How can I get the iMessages and sms to come through under one thread in my messaging app again?
I am having this trouble also, my partner creates a new message to send to me, or sends a picture and it always comes through as an MMS and not using iMessage ...
will try deleting everything and starting again! -
How do I get mail on my iPhone and computer to sync automatically, so e.g. messages read on one appear read on both? I am working in VN and the microsoft access server is in the USA.
If you created as an Exchange account on the iPhone (not IMAP or POP) and you have Push on it should all work smoothly; Reading a message on either client should mark the other read (it does on mine). Try deleting the account from the phone, rebooting the phone (to clear out old settings), then go to Settings/Mail,Contacts,Calendar, add an account and tap Microsoft Exchange and add the account back.
There is a fundamental difference between BB and iPhone that you should be aware of; on the BB you do not sync directly with Exchange; you sync with the RIM server which then syncs with your Exchange server. The iPhone syncs directly with Exchange using Microsoft's ActiveSync protocol. So in some ways they will behave differently. But ActiveSync should manage marking messages as read correctly. -
I have a new iPhone and have kept my old one to play music in another room. I have recently updated my software on the new iPhone and when it backed up it backed up to the old iPhone, I have therefore lost pictures, messages and apps from my new iPhone as it has backed up to the last session of the old phone, how can I get all my new stuff back and stop it from happening again?

No such thing has occurred. iPhones do not backup to one another.
It is not possible to backup a different iPhone from the one being updated.
If the iPhone was restored with a backup from a different device, restore it again from the correct backup.

Pay attention when restoring the iPhone and select the correct backup to restore from. -
I have recently bought a second I phone4 and have the same apple ID on both of them, strangely I noticed the messages sent from one phone appearing the other one along with any pictures I sent from one of my Iphones. Is it possible to see the same msgs.
You need to setup different Receive At addresses for iMessage.
If you don't want the same pics on each, turn off PhotoStream.

When I try to delete message threads on my iPhone 5, the message app won't work until I restart my phone. Once it restarts, the message threads that I tried to delete are still there. Any advice?
I recently spoke to someone from Apple support, and here's what I gathered:
"Older" phones (read: anything iPhone 4s or older?) sometimes have trouble keeping up with the processing demands of the newest software. When deleting threads with a lot of media (photos, videos, etc), it can take a lot of processing to successfully delete. What this support tech suggested was picking some of the bigger threads at night before you go to bed, deleting them, and then leaving the phone alone-- and plugged in-- overnight to give it enough time to delete everything. He suggested not even pressing the lock button; just leave it to process (though I imagine the screen will lock on its own anyway).
Not sure if it works yet since I just spoke to him, but it's the closest thing I've got to a solution! -
Iphone will receive mail but not send outgoing messages?
Hey people,
So my iphone 3gs will recieve my incoming mail and my passwords are all entered in the system. However, when I try to send out and Outgoing message on my screen appears the message "Cannot Send Mail- No password provided for email, Please go to Mail Account settings and enter a password". In my settings it says that my passwords entered are correct and I can recieve my incoming mail but I cannot send my Outgoing mail. Help!HI Friend,
I solved my problem filling the fields like SMTP, user name, and password on my outgoing mail server setting as well as your incoming mail server setting. (Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>your account>Outgoing Mail Server: SMTP>tap your Primary Server, check all your info for Outgoing Mail Server).
Hope it will be helpful, -
My iPhone is showing that I have one unread message but when I click on it, it does not show this so-called unread message. How do I go about getting rid of this symbol, or find this unread message?
Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

One mail client's outgoing messages flagged as SPAM
Hi again,
I have a new problem that has cropped up. Our company is multi-location. 8 of our locations are able to relay outgoing mail through our mail server with no problems whatsoever. Since upgrading clamav, amavisd-new and spamassassin (thanks topicdesk.com!), I have one remote client for whom every outgoing message is flagged as Spam by spamassassin and bounced. Here is the output from our mail server:
Content type: Spam
Internal reference code for the message is 05499-02/NFMMwedgHcWi

The only major difference in this location is that it's running a new Intel iMac with Snow Leopard. All the other clients are PPC's with Leopard. As it turns out, the problem was with the router configuration. Instead of having the computer on a private network behind the router, the computer was given the public IP address. I'm not sure how this relates to how the message and its header are interpreted by spamassassin, but reconfiguring the network and using NAT to allow incoming traffic to the computer seems to have resolved the problem.
I would love for someone who knows about this stuff to respond, although technically my problem is resolved.

Group messaging creating a new thread with no one listed in the To: field
Recently I have had issues with group text where I send a message to an exiting group text thread in the messaging app, and when someone responds from that thread Messages creates a new thread with no apparent sender or anyone listed in the To: field of that message. Has anyone had or scene this issue? So far the only solution I have found is to delete both the new thread and the old thread and start the group over again, losing all the group text history from the original thread.
Texts are a carrier function

On outgoing messages, when I look in MONI, I see properly formatted XML message.
The first line of all my outgoing files has this line:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
Is there a way to suppress this?
If so, is there a way to suppress for only certain partners within one interface?
Thanks,
JeffHi Jeff,
As others pointed without this line the document will not be a valid document. Can you tell your complete requirment. One of these kind of requirement is discussed in this thread, you can see whether its the same in your case or not. If not then tell your complete req. so that somebody can help you out here.
Remove first line in the XML Document

Can not get email after updating to 8.1.1! Deleted account and now cannot add as will not verify due to Apple something timeout messages? Any one else having problems?
Hi tania184,
Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.
