IPhone 5 Photo/video recovery

Hey, so I have an iPhone 5 which i took some photos and video with which very precious to me. I accidentally deleted a video in particular. Keeping in mind that the video was deleted before any backup was made of it. I understand that it is technically still on the hard drive as digital 1's and 0's, but rendered unreckognizeable and made available to other things as the space is needed. I need a way to access the files before they're overwritten. Are their specific programs that authorized apple employees use to get into the software like this? I have tried iExplorer and it only shows what is currently on the iphone as reckognizeable. I really need help with this fast! Thanks so much in advance!
Lorenzo

With only a few easy steps, you can extract your images, videos, songs, text messages, contacts, notes and so on. all your lost or deleted personal data by using iPhone data recovery software on a computer.
Step 1. Download the program and install it on the computer you synced your iOS devices before. Open the program to get started iPhone Data Recovery.
Step 2. Highlight a device by clicking it and then click "Start Scan" to extract the content on the backup file.
Step 3. Preview thumbnails of all found photos, files previously synced to iTunes from your iPhone, iPad and iPod.
Step 4. Click on "Recover"to fully restore your files.

  • Photo/video recovery possible?

I accidentally deleted an important video from my phone before I synced. Is there any way to recover it?

    No.  Sorry.

  • IPhone 4 in Recovery Mode--will I get my photos&videos back when I restore?

Last night, after syncing my iPhone 4, I attempted to download and install the latest iPhone software. It downloaded (after 3 hours which was crazy especially since download and successful installation took less than an hour with my husband's iPhone 3GS) and started to install. However, the installation failed and now a popup says "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used in iTunes." My phone shows an illustration indicating that I should plug it into iTunes.
My number one concern is whether or not I will be able to recover my photos. I have many photos and videos of my 6-month-old daughter on my phone that I do not want to lose. I did attempt to start a restore but cancelled when it said that I would lose all of my media. It said I would have the option of restoring my contacts, calendars, text messages, and other settings. It doesn't say anything about my photos and videos. Will I be able to restore my photos and videos??
    Thank you!
    MrsKinsey

You will only get them back if you synced before you started the download/install, therefore creating a backup (or mirror image) of your phone. If you didn't, chances are photos/videos and anything else you may have downloaded will be gone.
Make sure you always transfer ALL photos whenever you connect your phone, this way you know you still have them and can sync them back to your phone to enjoy wherever you are.

  • My iPhone 5 is in recovery mode but i want to save my pictures and videos! is there any way i can do that? i have a back up from 2 days ago and i don't have my iCloud sync with my photos

is there any way i can do that? i have a back up from 2 days ago and i don't have my iCloud sync with my photo

When restoring from the backup, whatever is included with the backup from two days ago should be restored which includes photos/videos in the Camera Roll at the time of the backup along with all other data included with the backup at the time of the backup two days ago.

  • IPhone photo/video library glitch - wrong file extensions, name shift, lost files etc [LONG story - sorry]

I have a 5s running 7.0.4. and my computer is running Windows 8.1.
We had a baby and my phone filled up fast with pictures and videos, so I decided to offload them onto my PC. I connected my phone to the usb port, and directly copied from the DCIM folder to my hard drive.
Something happened during the first attempt, and the process was interrupted. So I went into each of the sub folders, and selected all files, and started the copy process again. I told the computer to skip any existing files.
So all the file counts matched in each folder, and I figured it was safe to start deleting from my iPhone.
On my hard drive, I separated all the MOV files into my Videos folder. But in Windows Explorer, the thumbnail view showed several MOV files with no thumbnail - just the generic icon.
As I sorted my photos into various folders, I also noticed a lot of generic icons instead of thumbnails for the JPGs. I started to feel concerned that my files had become corrupt during the transfer. But then I noticed a PNG file that was a few hundred megabytes. This was odd, so I added the MOV extension to it. Sure enough, it was a video with the wrong extension.
I renamed every PNG and JPG file that had no thumbnail to add the MOV extension. Every one was a video with the wrong file extension.
Then I went to the video folder, and all the MOV files that had the generic icon were actually JPG files.
Well I was just happy to see that the files were not corrupt.
One more time before I deleted things from my iPhone, I did a spot check to see that the largest videos were on my hard drive. I found a few videos that were not copied over, despite the file counts having been accurate. So I copied the videos again, and compared file sizes and date/times when there was an overwrite prompt. Most were matches, but several were the same file name with different sizes and dates.
I didn't know what was going on, but I just wanted to get the files on my computer. So I renamed my local copy where there was a name collision, and copied the videos. I deleted the videos from my phone as I went along.
I felt pretty confident that I had all the files copied now, so I began mass deleting my photos.
I went to the Photos app on the phone, and watched the thousands of pictures disappear, and the glorious free space grow on my phone.
But wait... there was still 1 video in the Photos app. I thought I had gotten all the MOV files off the phone...
I have a photo info app installed, so I was able to see the file name of the video. I searched for that file name in the DCIM subfolders, but the folder that had that series of files (the IMG_3000-3999 files) listed the files with that particular video skipped. It was clearly still on my phone, because I could play it.
Then I noticed it was a 45 minute long video of my baby. About 5 GB. So I figured it must be due to the file size that it wasn't visible from explorer. (Can't explain why that would be, but M$ keeps changing crap too. I never freaking know what to expect from them either.)
After having deleted all the jpg, png and mov files from the DCIM folder, there were still about 26 files in my camera roll on the iPhone. And I could still view the video.
I decided I wasn't concerned about the photos, I just wanted to figure out how to get the video onto my computer.
So I selected all the photos in the photo app (skipping the 1 remaining video) and tapped the trash can.
Poof! One item remained, and it was one of the garbage photos. My video is GONE! ^#@*&#($^@Q&%( And no, I didn't fat-finger it. I was very careful to select the correct thumbnails.
Looking back, I know that I should have just started the entire file copy process from scratch when funny stuff started happening like mismatched file names. But I am a sleep-deprived new mom and just wasn't thinking clearly. It would be nice if I could have used my file/directory compare program to check the iPhone against my laptop, but it is not compatible with devices, only removable drives.
And no, I don't use iTunes. I stopped using iTunes years ago when it would randomly decide to delete contacts from my phone just because they didn't exist on my computer or some sh-- like that. I have always just manually synced all my stuff and have never had an issue like this. To say I am sad to lose that video is an understatement.
I googled "iPhone undelete" and "iPhone data recovery" and downloaded a trial for one of the likely candidates. It turned up a bunch of garbage, but not my video.
Anyways... I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this type of scenario? Has anybody identified what could cause this to happen? I would like to avoid this in the future. (I will avoid this type of loss, because I know now what I could have done differently to be more careful. But it would be nice if I didn't have to get all neurotic about checking 60GB of photos/videos side by side each time I copy them to my computer...)
I have seen other threads on the forum here regarding corrupted libraries and such, but I am not sure this is the same thing.
One suspicion I have is that it might have to do with the iPhoto app being installed on the phone. I can't articulate why I think that is worth considering. But when I looked at my Video folder, I ended up with many duplicate videos, and all the duplicated videos' file names were 2 numbers apart. As if all the file names got shifted at some point. Very strange.
Thanks for listening to my rant. If anybody has an idea, I am interested. If anybody else has lost precious memories due to this, we should talk. If it is a widespread problem, maybe we can all get together and pound down Apple's door?
As an aside: Why am I unable to select Apple Support Community to post this question to?

In my case number of weird things happen whenever I try to copy pictures/videos from my iPhone from direct USB...
    1. JPG files are wrongly named as MOV and vice versa.
    2. I copy only folders but in addition files with no extension are copied in the main folder, very strange.
    3. Whenever I open one of the folders, strange icons like this () start appearing which cannot be copied even.
Unfortunately I used to delete a lot of files with wrong extensions in the past because I never new they could be fixed.
    Apple should answer this!
Note: I am using Windows 8.1 and use a direct USB cable without iTunes to copy the media files directly from My Computer.

  • Download video from iphone icloud photo stream to mac?

    I have a iPhone 4s iOS 7.1.2 and a 2012 MacBook 13" OSX 2.9 i7 dual core on Mavericks 10.9.5
I'm using iPhoto 9.4.3 on my Mac
The issue: after filming several biking videos on my iphone, I ran out of space.
So I 'shared' in a icloud folder I have called 'Bikes'.
I then deleted the video files on my iphone.
The issue:  when I got home and tried to sync my iphone pictures and videos to the Mac,
only the photos were synced to the library and the icloud photostream album.
    The videos were nowhere.
The videos seem to be only available to view on the iphone icloud album.
The only way to share the video is to share the entire album and force the sharees to open an icloud account (something I do not want to inflict on friends).
Creating a smart album on iphoto to find all videos doesn't help either as the videos aren't on the hard drive, they're on icloud.
How can I get back control of my video content?  I simply want to download MY OWN videos to MY OWN hard drive.
Would an upgrade to Yosemite help me?  Would this enable one to access one's own video content in icloud and be able to download it to one's own hard drive?
Anyone else frustrated by iphoto/icloud video limitations?

    Thanks for answering Léonie,
But I'm cool with creating private and shared albums, thing is, they are not the same depending on whether you view them from an iPhone and MacBook.
The same iCloud/photo stream album eg. 'Bikes' contains pictures and videos when viewed from an iPhone but when viewed from a MacBook, the videos have mysteriously disappeared.
All I want to do is:
1/ Download the video files from iPhone iCloud to my iPhone (4s on iOS 7.1.2) Camera Roll (not possible)
2/ Download from MacBook iPhoto/Photos stream/album to my MacBook hard drive, but it's not currently possible (osx 10.9.5).
The only place where these particular videos are is in the iPhone version of iCloud/photo stream album.  I (increasingly regrettably) deleted the original videos from my iPhone Camera Roll after I had added the videos to the iCloud photo stream album.  I know I can easily download photos from my iphone/icloud photostream album but downloading a selected video gives me a greyed out sharing option button.
Reading about Yosemite upgrades on my 2012 MacBook (2.9 i7 dual core, 8Go RAM) I am very, very wary about upgrading my MacBook to Yosemite and Photo just for this issue, especially if I still can't access my video file and have to face hours of data recovery/formatting and full reinstall! Not to mention risking having incompatibility issues with my database/analytics software!

  • Downloading iPhone 3GS photos and Videos to other computers

I recently got my first iPhone and am still finding out how to do things, so, apologies if this sounds dim but....
How do I download photos and videos from my iPhone 3GS to other computers?
I can plug in to my mac and sync everything with iTunes - no problem
I can plug into a PC and open up the iPhone files and copy across to the PC- no problem
    BUT
If I plug a mac other than my own it just opens up iTunes. How can I copy a photo onto this mac without syncing the whole thing?
    Thanks in anticipation.
    Rob

When iTunes opens up, just close it down, because you do not want to sync with any computer other than the computer you normally sync with. Then launch iPhoto & you can then import the photos/videos in your camera roll. Photos/videos synced to your phone cannot be imported to any other computer.

  • Itunes doesn't seem to synch "wirelessly" with my iphone.  It seems to work with emails but not photos / videos I've taken on my phone.  Also, there is no "device" listed on itunes menu bar, only when connected via cables

My computer / iTunes is set up correctly for wireless (account info. all good), and emial is synched wirelessly.  BUT not photos / videos or songs.  I seem to have to plug my iPhone into my computer for iTunes to recognize my device.  Shouldn't iTunes recognize my iphone wirelessly?  For example, I have read that "device" should show up in menu bar on iTunes but it doesn't unless I'm cabled in.
Also, when I go to my iPhone to "synch wirelessly with iTunes", the button / tab doesn't light up for me to chose and tells me will synch when "smith - laptop" is available.....
This is my first iPhone, and just got it so may be user error.....
    thanks

Did you build Elsa with this package from AUR: elsa-svn-arch
The way your elsa.conf looks like indicates to me that you have not.
Please use the package because you are also missing pam-files.

  • HT4847 my iphone storage is full and I do not have enough storage for upgrades or to take photos/videos, etc. My icloud is on for photos/videos. Can I safely delete them on my phone to make storage room knowing I can access them on my icloud?

My iphone storage is full and I do not have enough storage for upgrades or to take more photos/videos, download apps, etc. I do have my photos/videos ON for icloud sync but not sure if I can safely delete them from my iphone to make room. And if I can delete them from my phone how do I access them on my icloud? I logged in for the first time and do not see where to access photos/videos?

You can't just store photos on icloud.  They can be included as part of a backup or when using photo stream to sync photos from one device to another, but 1) photo stream keeps photos for up to 30 days after which they are deleted from the servers, and 2) never rely on a backup to icloud as a way of storing photos.  (When photos are deleted from the device, they are no longer on recent backups, and older backups get deleted in short time.)
When it comes to photos, users should sync them to a computer for archiving.  Then they can delete the photos from the device, as the computer will have copies.
Photos in backups on icloud cannot be viewed on icloud.
Read this...  import photos to your computer...

  • How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)?

How do I get the music back on my iPhone after manually deleting it from the device (to get space for photos/videos)?  I can sync with iTunes but it doesn't copy these songs back, even though they still appear in my iTunes library.  I can click on the Music link  under 'On My Device' in iTunes and the missing songs all appear to still be on the device, but they are not.  I normally delete using iTunes and do not have this issue.  This time I was out and needed more space to shoot photos and videos so I removed a lot of music from my phone through the Music App.

The songs I'm trying to reload on my phone are on my PC.  These we had loaded into iTunes.  I can remove them all from the library and then add them all back one by one I imagine.  The problem I'm having is that I removed them manually from the phone, they still appear in iTunes music library yet they won't sync.  I don't want to take the time to compare the phone to my library, remove from the library what's missing on the phone and then add them all back again.  64GB (mostly music) will take a while.

  • How do I permanently transfer photos, video & TV shows from iphone 5 to ipad air?

My 16gb iphone 5 iOS 7.1 is advising my storage is almost full. I've just purchased a 32gb Ipad air wifi iOS 7.1 and would like to permanently transfer my photos & video and downloaded tv shows from the iphone to the ipad, then delete said photos, video and tv shows off my iphone without it then deleting off my ipad.  Can this be done?  By what method?
In regards to the photos, I started doing the transfer via the shared stream option but realised if I then deleted off my iphone it would delete off my other devices i.e. ipad, as well.  In regards to the TV shows I've managed to sync the iphone and ipad so that both devices are displaying all TV shows - I think I did this through itunes? - but I'm hesitant to now delete off my iphone before confirming they'll stay on the ipad.
Apologies for the convoluted questioning...I've tried researching this myself but just can't seem to get my head around it.
    Thanks very much in advance

use icloud to sync the images to and delete them locally
or import them to the computer and sync them with the other device
and delete them after you import them on the device where you don't want them

  • Iphone needs to be restored but..can i save my photos/videos???

    Hi guys!
I was upgrading the OS of my iphone when itunes and the iphone decided to freeze.
After an hardware reset, the iphone is now asking for a restore (it only shows the "connect me to itunes" screen) and there's no way i can make it change his mind.
Is there a way to save the photos/videos i have (had -_-) on my iphone before restoring everything?
Thanks for your support and have a nice day!
    Bye!
    Albepple

Sadly, there isn't. Some of your phone's items may be stored in the backup file the phone makes during sync. Unfortunently, should those items not be in the back up file they are gone for good.
