Iphone 5 powering down randomly

My iphone 5 keeps powering down randomly and then gets "stuck" in reboot mode.  I've done an itunes backup and have tried to reset it, but it won't even respond.

You're welcome.
The exchange under warranty remains under the same warranty period as your original purchase or 90 days from today, whichever is longer.

My iphone keeps shutting down randomly. 3-7 times a day. Ever since I installed IO7. How do I fix or reinstall IO6?

    Hey Kaylyn07,
Thanks for the question. The following article may help in troubleshooting Kernal Panic’s for OS X:
OS X: When your computer spontaneously restarts or displays "Your computer restarted because of a problem."
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4636
In most cases, kernel panics are not caused by an issue with the Mac itself. They are usually caused by software that was installed, or a problem with connected hardware.
To help avoid kernel panics, install all available software updates until Software Update reports, "Your software is up to date." OS X updates help your Mac handle the kinds of issues that can cause kernel panics, such as malformed network packets, or third party software issues. For most kernel panics, updating your software is all you have to do.
Diagnosing a recurring kernel panic can be difficult. If you need help with this process, consider bringing your Mac to a Genius at an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.  If you plan to visit an Apple Retail store, you can make a reservation (available in some countries only).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • IPhone 3GS shutting down randomly...

    Hi,
I was wondering if someone has experienced an issue where an iPhone 3GS shuts down randomly. The issue started tonight just a few minutes ago, the only thing I installed yesterday was iOS 5.0.1. Personally, I don't know what has happened, I do know that my brother has downloaded some songs using the Download Lite App from the App Store. Curiously the issue started occuring after the downloaded one song using that app, but other than that I can't find a problem indicator.

I also having the same issue with my iPhone 3GS with iOS 5.0.1, except most the day went by okay for me until near the end of the day. Perhaps I don't use my iPhone as frequently as you guys are but when I really on to something on it, it just shuts down like a Window virus. (hehe)

Unfortunately this is probably a hardware issue and you will need to take it to an Apple Store.

  • IPhone powers down randomly

Hi. My wife's 3GS keeps shutting down when not in use. It rings to outside callers but appears to have powered down. I've tried restoring as a new iPhone through iTunes but this hasn't helped.
    Help!!

If no change after restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the iPhone's backup, more than likely the iPhone has a hardware problem.
The iPhone includes a one year warranty. You can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby. If your carrier for the iPhone handles iPhone warranty claims, you can go that route.

  • Hi, my iphone 4s shuts down randomly, Apple told me the phone is fine, I did a 2nd restore, deactivated iCloud, and no the frequency of shutting down is even more, any help please ?

Hi, my iphone 4s ios 6.0.1 shuts down randomly, Apple told me the phone & battery are fine as it holds a charge, I did a 2nd restore, deactivated iCloud, and now the frequency of shutting down is even more, any help please ?

It's almost impossible to say whether it's the battery or something else.  If you're running 6.0.1 and you've done a restore and set it up as new, there are no other software updates to try.
If there's no Apple Store near you, contact Apple Care. If  you can't wait for a replacement phone, you may be able to get an express replacement (they ship you the replacement before you ship them yours, but they will put a hold on your credit card until yours is in their hands).

  • Iphone 4 shuts down randomly

My iPhone 4 keeps shutting down randomly at 32% or 49% or 80% battery life. I did a hard reset, restored to factory settings and also I changed a new battery which I DIY. However, I am still having the same issues. I am using iOS 7.1.2. Please help me out, it is really frustrating to have the same problem after changing the battery.

Thank you for letting me know. I have this issue with the original battery so I thought because I had this phone for the past 4 years the battery may not be good. So I decided to change it myself since I no longer have warranty. Do you have any solutions? Or I have to buy a new phone which I am reluctant to do so as my iPhone 4 is still in good condition.

  • My iphone keeps powering down since I have done the ios 8 update

My iphone 5s keeps powering down and rebooting ever since I have completed the ios8 update

    Hi loriwcase,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your device is powering off unexpectedly since updating to iOS 8. Take a look at the article linked below, it provides some great troubleshooting suggestions and information which will resolve most issues like this.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?
    Contact Apple Support.
    I hope this helps.

  • IPhone 3G powered down by itself ?

Hello, my iPhone 3G just scared me.  I went to use it and hit the home button, and it did not respond.  I hit the power button, nothing.  I pressed and held them both, still nothing.  Finally, I plugged it in - no alert sounded (sound was on) and nothing for a minute solid.  I hit power again, and *finally*, the lovely Apple logo.  I waited through the obligatory start-up and heard the plug alert.
It seems to be working.  However, my battery was *not* low - nowhere near turning the icon red, yet.  Why would my iPhone power itself down and then be unresponsive to anything I tried ?  Has anyone else had this experience ?  Is my iPhone trying to tell me something ?  And, don't say "buy a 4S", I'm waiting for the 5.  Thanks for reading !

    Hey there  Cheongwr,
It sounds like your phone is restarting unexpectedly, when it is not charging. I would reset the phone with these steps first, then test the issue again:
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If it persists I would next backup the phone to iTunes on your computer with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And restore it from your backup with this article and test the issue again:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If the issue still happens after restoring from your backup, try restoring it as a new device to see if there is an issue with the backed up data itself.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • IPhone 4s shuts down randomly after 7.0.6 update

After updating my iphone 4s to 7.0.6, my phone randomly shuts down. Doesn't seem to be related to how much charge is left in the battery. Any suggestions for how to fix this problem? Thanks

    Hello Rudegar,
I did think it might be hardware issue and searched online, and saw these posts already. I tried to clean the headphone jack, tried to put and pull out the headphone several times. And no, it is not the cause.
I know that because while playing the music with headphone, and when I pull the headphone off, then music stops and the volume is adjusted. So no iPhone is not stuck with headphone mode.
Thank you for the info though.

  • IPhone 3GS shuts down randomly when SIM card is in

without SIM card it works properly! I have updated to iOS 5.0.1, also got a new SIM card from our provider, without results. iPhone shuts down and reboots every 5 minutes when SIM is in. Does anyone has the same problem? What can I do besides sending it to the Service?
    Would a resetting help?

Some Users have Reported that a Restore as New has helped Resolve issues...
Backup and Set Up as New Device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
    Try this First..
    Turn the Phone Off...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the Phone On...
