my wife had the same issue, even though it didn't look like it was covered, and the screen protector has a hole there, the cosmetics seem to create an invisible barrier, and once I cleaned it well, the sensor was working correctly.

Proximity sensor not working after IOS 6 upgrade

After upgrading to IOS 6 on a iphone 4 now the proximity sensor wont work just like before until they patched it.

I had the same problem.
It's unexplainable for me to tell you why, but I fixed it by switching the 'Airplane' mode on and off again.
I was testing all kinds of stuff, trying to get the sensor to work again.
In the settings I accidentally pressed the Airplane mode. And since I didn't wanted that on, I switched it off again.
A few seconds later I wanted to show a buddy of mine that my sensor didn't work anymore... and surprisingly it did work again.
Don't know what happened there, but it worked for me.
If you have the same problem, it's worth the try.
Drop a reply if it worked for you as well. Then we can confirm this mysterious fix

you'll have to bring it back to the apple store for repair/replacement. Warranty services is done only in the country of purchase, so you'll need to bring you phone to a US apple store.

And last week i upgrated my Hardware form 4.1 to 5.1.1. Until this time everythings are ok. On my old firmware my proximity sensor working Good but in my new hardware not working. My iPhone is black and o tried all the things restarted, reset, restored, and turned my old firmware but nothing... Everythings goes the bad. Yesterday in my room and it was so dark i saw on dial screen top the loudspeaker a red light if i close dial red light is closing if dial a number red light is turning on i thing the proximity sensor is working as technique, but not working as software bug what can i do please help me????

Proximity Sensor Not Working on Brand new Z2

Hi, The Proximity sensor is not working on my new Xperia Z2. I have ran all the tests on the phone and they have failed. When Put up to the ear during a call the screen does not switch off and all the icons get pressed etc. This is VERY annoying as i cant even speak to anyone for a minute before im dialing someone else by mistake. All Software is up to date. SONY, What the soslution here? I will be taking it into the Sony Center here tomorrow but I dont want to be without my only buisness phone for 3-4 days.

OK installed each update to the pre-installed apps one at a time and tested the proximity sensor after each. All fine till Sony TV Side view : quick remote. after instalation proximity sensor stopped working. after uninstall all working fine again.Seems this is the culprit but I will add my 3rd party apps one at a time just to make sure.

Z10 - Light and proximity Sensor not working

unfortunately neither the light Sensor nor the Proximity Sensor are working on my device (Z10). I did reset my device to factory settings yesterday but without success. BBVE tells all sensor services are available and running but the Proximity and Light Sensor tests fail. I tried to reboot the phone but afterwards BBVE claims the Sensor Services to be not even running anymore.
My Phone is currently running on Version 10.2.1.2977.
Is this a software or hardware releated problem? And does there exist any fix to it?

This problem occured suddenly, during normal operation. I don't have any Android apps installed. I even got the same issue right after I reloaded the OS and after the factory reset. Very strange.

Lumia 920 proximity sensor not working

It's a 5 months old Lumia 920 and already the proximity sensor stopped working!!!
When i make a call or receive a call, when i place the phone beside my ear, or cover it with my hand just to check, nothing happens! The phone screen doesn't go black, it stays active for the entire time and the phone charge drains like crazy.
Guess it's a hardware failure. Still if anyone has any suggestions, i will appreciate much.

I've had the same problem. The screen won't blank during a call (like the proximity sensor isn't detecting my face/finger/hand). I keep hanging up on people with my ear. I've taken to locking my screen before putting it to my ear but anytime I get another call / text / voicemail / calendar notification / alarm while i'm on the phone (which happens a lot still) it lights the screen up again and makes it where i'm able to hang up with my ear.
I've factory reset, and had the phone replaced TWICE already. I'm on my 3rd Lumia 920 (and they all have the same issue!) This didn't happen until the most recent firmware update...so I think it was a problem created when they were trying to fix the other proximity sensor issue where the screen stayed on black all the time during a call.
Rebooting does fix the problem temporarily, but it always comes back. I'm tired of hanging up on people and hoping for a new model device from AT&T but they're giving me **bleep** at the moment.
TLDR: Factory reset, replacement devices don't fix the problem. It's a firmware bug. I'm on my 3rd 920 with the same issue. Extraordinarily frustrating.

nd makes another call while talking to someone. When I'm on the phone with her I can here buttons beeping and then it disconnects. It's making her hate the iphone and wanting to get an Android. Ack! We gotta stop her.

Iphone 6 proximity sensor not working any more

Dear apple users,
A few weeks ago i dropped my iphone 6 and my screen broke, so I decided to fix it. I ordered a screen online and changed it. Every thing seemed to be fine until i tried to call somebody, because my screen didn't turn off when calling, yet my light sensor did work. So I took it apart again and again and again but it didn't change anything. I went online and read on some forum that you had to tape it off in order to keep light from getting into the sensor. So i tried but also this didn't work. I really don't know what to do now, does anyone know how to fix this problem? By the way, I should just have brought it to apple, but I thought this would be a lot mor expensive and take a lot more time. But after all I should have never done this

Sorry, but as you already wrote, you should have never done this, and Apple will not service the phone anymore after you have opened the phone.
Your only chance would be finding a 3rd party repair service that can fix that for you. And we can't help you either, due to the Terms of Use in these discussions.

Can't hear calls/ people can't hear me!! Proximity sensor NOT WORKING!

Ok so my iphone was fine last time I made a call on it which was last night. I have an incoming call and I can't hear the person and they cant hear me, but when I switch to the speaker phone it works! In addition, I noticed that since the proximity sensor does NOT turn the screen off when I had the phone to my head... Went to the apple store and scheduled an appointment for wednesday, but I guess i'm stuck until then.

I had this problem a while ago, and people could hear me but I could not hear them. The problem turned out to be with the headphone jack; the phone thought that my headphones were still plugged-in. Oddly enough, the only way they started working again was from being held in my hand while I was running to answer my land-line phone. I guess the jarring movement released the jack. This has only happened once more.
I am careful now to pause my music before unplugging the headphones. (No idea if that helps or not)

According to BBVE, light and proximity services are both listed as unavailable, and tests could not be carried out for them. Restarting the device seems to fix the problem temporarily. I am completely out of ideas what to do next, since this issue is very annoying. So far, I have tried:

Proximity Sensors not working

My Proximity Sensors are not shutting off my screen.
This is a 3g, and because its go 2 prox sensors, why is this doing this, the sensors are not covered at all!
im mad, bc ive taken in 3 iphoens and the fact that ive had a problem or more on each one, is bull!

Mid 2010 iMac HD Proximity Sensor not working

I'm using a mid 2010 iMac and until yesterday iStat showed a temperature for HD Proximity Sensor. But today, iStat just showed a dash ("-") next to the HD Proximity Sensor reading. After I restarted my iMac, HD Proximity isn't even there on the list and all I see is this:
These are all idle temperatures by the way. Did that sensor just stop working for some reason? And if so, what can/should I do about it?

Proximity sensor not working correctly...screen won't turn back on!

Alright so I'm loving my iPhone 4, but I've been having one glaring issue: the proximity sensor turns off the screen during a call(as normal) but then the screen won't turn back on until I lock, force hangup and lock again. Very frustrating because I was unable to dial a number to be transferred while in a call. Seems like the same issue is going on with other iPhone generations upgrading to iOS4 in the other forum sections, but I'd never think it to happen with a brand new 4. Could it have been my restore file from my 3GS?
