IPhone 5 - rattling phone, second replacement coming!
hi guys. i can see this is a common issue. i have heard a few different reasons about why this is happening. either it's the autofocus mechanism or the vibrate motor.
whatever the reason, this should not be happening on a £600 piece of hardware. the quality control at apple is not what it used to be and when they are rushing to manufacture millions of devices to tight deadlines in china then this is a problem that was going to happen sooner or later.
i am of the opinion that this is a fault with possibly more than 50% of all iphones manufactured to date and apple needs to do a product recall. it seems that they have told staff to not admit this as a fault to try and avoid just that.
i got a replacement and it arrived, the rattle was slightly less noticable but definitely still there. i just ordered another replacement and will continue to keep doing so until i get a device that doesn't rattle.
before anyone says that this is normal and it is SUPPOSED to rattle, that is BS. i have been to the apple store in brighton and tried the display models and even tried a few they had in the back after speaking with a staff member. out of the 12 phones i went through, 2 didnt rattle AT ALL.
Now you tell me if that is normal and people should just put up with the substandard product that apple has churned out this time. I say NO, and the more people that actually make a stand, the quicker apple will be forced to spend some of their $600B on fixing this issue.

It sounds like the speaker is vibrating. I just got this new iphone last week, and I have been using a lifeproof case. No, it is not a notification going off, I know the difference. It is a noise that is unacceptable though, very distracting during my business calls.
I got the phone from Sprint. Does anyone know if I can just take back to them for a new one or what that process likely entails??

If Apple's service database says that your iPhone was replaced, then Apple will no longer provide any service for that phone.
First, get a new SIM from your cell carrier and see if that corrects the problem. If it does not, try the usual steps for addressing software problems: restart, reset, restore.

If you try restoring from a backup and that doesn't fix the problem, try restoring to factory settings and, if the problem goes away, then sync back your apps and content. You'll lose the app data and settings, but if the problem is due to a corrupt cache or settings file, restoring to factory settings should cure it.
If none of that helps, your device may have developed a hardware fault. Again, Apple will provide no service for it, so you will need to pay some independent repair shop to fix your iPhone.

My iPhone 4S accidentally fell into a very shallow bit of water. The phone was wet, but worked afterwards for a short bit. Now it's not working, so I called and got a replacement phone coming. Same exact phone. Can I use the old Sim card in the new phone without harming anything? I don't know if the sim card got messed up or not, but I had a lot of pictures and messages and my contacts on my phone, and I assume these were on the sim card or am I wrong? I just wan to know if I can use the old sim card if it's still working in the new phone that is coming, as long as there was no damage to it? Thanks
I think I had it on the iCloud, I just changed computers and had part of my old computer backed up, where are the default iTunes info saved like the pictures and I know my contacts were backed up cuz I kept getting updated stuff that I wasn't sure about, but it was contacts where some belonged to my wife's contacts....but anyway, if the cloud backed up contacts, it should have grabbed pictures too? Like I asked before, if they were backed up to the computer, is there a default iTunes folder they are saved to? I had a crap load of pictures on there that I usually could really access if I was connected to wi-fi. I turned off my data stuff as I only have 4GB and between me and my 2 kids, we seemed to use up a lot of it. My son would play music from Pandora during work, and use up all our data til I limited him to only 3GB, my daughter and I barely used 1GB. Anyway, thanks to everybody that is answering. I thought I might have done good finding the dang sim card, but pointless I guess.
Ralph - F.Y.I. I would be happy to back up the iPhone if I could turn it on LOL......I am pretty positive I did, but what about Text messages? ANY of those saved too or not? Sorry guys, I don't know a **** of a lot about cell phones, but I do know about memory cards, but not sim cards that act like memory cards or look like them anyway. What is the purpose of a sim card if I may ask a stupid question since they don't hold any data from my phone stuff. I use an Iphone 4 which had to be replaced recently. However when i did a backup it was on the new IOS version 7, but now that my phone was replaced and i am back on the old IOS version 6 i how do i restore my backup??
When i try to restore my Back up using Itunes this is the message i get - "Unable to restore backup as the software is old - Please setup as a new device and then try to restore your backup" - Please advise. If i do so are there any chances of loosing my data. At this point in time i would be happy if i could just retreive my contacts list. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Nope - you cannot restore a backup from a newer iOS version on to a device running an older iOS version. The reverse works, but in your case to use your backup, you must update to iOS 7.0.3 - no other option if you want to use that backup.

How do i put tv programmes and videos from itunes to another iphone, without having to delete all data on the phone and replacing it with my library? i switched the 'sync only ticked songs and videos' yet it still wont let me transfer videos from my itunes onto my new phone, any ideas??
Copy the entire itunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

Iphone 4s - how do I change the name in the contacts for the owner of the phone - it is coming up as the other person who uses the laptop - so when ringing or texting anyone 2 names are being used as the caller id on the screen

I had thought about this, but it seems other people have already chosen the screen name "pinksharkmark" and virtually every variation of it I can think of. So that isn't an option for me. As for getting it to display something else as well, do you mean that if I were to get an AIM screen name like "CromulentCat" I could somehow log in to iChat under the AIM account "CromulentCat" yet get iChat to represent me to my Buddies as "PinkSharkMark"? Because I have to admit I don't see how that can be done. It appears as if iChat displays to anyone chatting with you precisely the account name you logged in under and nothing else. So if you logged in using a .Mac account, then you are displayed as "[email protected]" while if you logged in under an AIM account, you are displayed as "CromulentCat". But that's it that's all... there is no way to change CromulentCat to PinkSharkMark.

How can I get a Brand New iPhone 3GS as a warranty replacement phone?

Does anyone how I can get a brand new iPhone 3GS as a warranty replacement for my iPhone 3GS? I already had the phone replaced once with a refurbished phone that has a problem with becoming frozen and unresponsive. This occurred ten times since I got the phone on 4/16/2011. I have tried doing a hard reset and have also restored the phone as a new device. I have an Apple Care plan. I am concerned that the refurbished phones will not be reliable due to my experience with the refurbished one that I got as a replacement.

I can't make or receive calls in my iPhone 5(just bought second hand and unlocked), but I am able to use 3G network. If I use the same SIM card in other phone it works fine. I have tried network resetting and restore.
I bought this cheap from an unknown persons. I have checked it is not in blacklist. And unlocked by apple.Those are all carrier features, so contact your cell phone provider.

The icon Photos is the Photo library, and also where the photos from your camera roll are stored. That is a native iOS app and cannot be deleted.
The syncing of photos to your phone happens in iTunes. You can remove the photos that were synced by reversing the process. Connect the phone to iTunes, select the device in iTunes and go to the photo tab in iTunes. Remove the checkmark by the photo folders that have been synced and re-sync. That will remove the photos. -

Warranty and Support are only valid in the country of origin. You will need to take the device to whatever country it originally came from.
Apple will not accept shipments from outside the country nor will they return it to an address outside the country. -
I have checked around the internet, but still can't find any answers. How can I prevent incoming mail from interrupting the music I am listening to on my iPhone? That 1-second muting function drives me insane, especially when a lot of mail is coming in.
If you want to hear your music on iPhone without interruption, switch Settings > Airplane Mode: ON.

i have purchased iphone 4 8gb in india. i have heard that when the company stops manufacturing the current phone, they replace it with 4s. is it true? can i get it replaced with iphone 4s 16gb or can i get it upgraded with iphone 16gb because 8gb is very less memory for me coz it hangs up all the time and apps dont work properly. any scheme where i can pay a bit and get it exchanged with any of them?
Probably not. If you want to purchase a new phone, then you'll have to sell your old one to fund your purchase of a new phone.
As for iPhones, the phone that they will stop making is the iPhone 5. This will not be made or sold any longer, because it has been replaced by the iPhone 5c and 5s. You should still be able to get and iPhone 4 and 4s, although the iPhone 4 is old now in technology standards.
To get a new phone though, you will likely have to sell your old phone to fund the purchase of a new one. This is what most folks do. -
