Iphone 5 really worth it ? or samsung galaxy s3 ?

thinking about buying iphone 5 buy im stuck inbetween that and samsung galaxy s 3 . help please !

Personal preference issue, iphone 5 is thinner and lighter, their benchmarks are very similer so they are both very fast, the gs3 has a larger screen which some like and others dont,  iphone has iOS on it and GS3 has android so go by your preferences. Even if people say one or the other is "better" its more about what works better for you

Like almost everything in this world is a matter of choice, but, if it is to logically make a choice here are a few criteria you should consider before picking up a smartphone:
    Do you really need it? - if not, the money will stay better in your account;
Set up the budget and consider the fact that smartphones get upgrades faster than computers and laptops, will you be able to upgrade?
Which operating system are you familiar with?
What are your needs and expectations from the smartphone?
    What type of person you are (email/chat/SMS/Social Media-man aka. communications, multimedia, productivity, gamer, etc.) this will help you chose the appropriate hardware and check out what are your options regarding the existing applications for your needs;
    Are you always on the run or work in an office? - this will help you decide from the battery life point of view;
If you own a tablet you might just need a simple smartphone.
Samsung does not really innovate in terms of functionality and usability, they only copy what others do and make it their own way. Android is not a mature operating system, yet. I like some of its features, of course, but I can rely on it when it comes to productivity as I'm a person who sends 100's of emails per day and need to easily manage the messages.
You can have the best hardware in the world but that's useless if you operating system is bad at managing those resources, you will not be able to exploit the device to the fullest and you might cry over the money you've spent :-) Nevertheless Samsung has a large market share, makes good phones, but not quite smart, they are rather... intelligent, a smartphone is smart from the day you buy it, you don't have to put it in training mode :-)
As about Lumia, I don't have much to say, it's what iPhone had at the iPhone 4 version minus the 40MP camera and the operating system. If I want a good camera then I buy a camera, a Canon or Nikon :-) Yes, the Krait CPU, so what? That CPU is managed by a Wi*dows OS and that should say everything. I'm not against Micr*soft, they had/have their part in technology progress, but I'm more into stable operating systems, I'd chose Android over Wi*dows, yet Nokia were always great at hardware and batery life. Bad choice for Nokia, look at their sales and you will understand.
That's just my two cents, but iPhone is the choice of millions when they chose their first smartphone: is user friendly, solid, great hardware specs, lovely screen, wonderful support, high-level security, multimedia at its best, a design that catches the eye, looks and feels great in your hand, it's light, you have millions of verified apps in the store and a nice community to tell you all these :-)

  • How do I pair my iPhone 6 plus to a Samsung Galaxy S 5 via Bluetooth

    You can't
The iPhone does not pair that way on bluetooth

  • How do I set my iphone to tether with my samsung galaxy note 10.1

How di I set my iphone 4si to tether with my samsung galaxy note 10.1

Not sure if this can be done or not but try the following process,
    On your iphone
Settings > Personal Hotspot > On  (and take note of the password or set one up).
On your Samsung Tablet, set up a WiFi connection and try to connect to the hotspot generated by your iPhone.
It would be good to know if this works, good luck.

  • Is the Iphone really worth getting

I know posting this question on the apple section of the Verizon forum might not be the greatest place, but I really want to know if its worth getting. I have to figure you guys will be biased, so I was hoping you can give me a legitimate wow reason as to what makes the iphone better than similar droid phones.
Personally I have never been a big apple user. I have never had an iphone, or Ipad. I have had an ipod for a couple years now and I will say I have nothing but good things to say about it. However I have looked and played around with many of my friends Iphones and personally I cannot see what makes it so special. Granted I understand its like ground zero for smart phones, but today it seems no different than any other smart phone out there. Also, I feel I am somewhat biased against the Iphone because I feel Siri is the beginning of Skynet.
Jokes aside I am considering the switch, so please tell me what makes this phone so special. Thank you for your help.

    Hello Gerio,
It really depends upon the features you want, and what you need the phone to do. I am getting older and can't afford an assistant to help with my memory. Siri is the next best thing. Secondly, I am really intrigued with the advanced abilities of this phone. If I weren't married to a terminally wife, I would not have a landline. She has dementia and cannot learn new things so the "cell phone' is too much for her. Secondly, her emergency medical is attached to the normal landline 911 system. I have had an I phone in the past and was extremely happy with its performance, as well as its environmental footprint. I get so upset when I hear people say that "Apple" is owner of everything, lenux is free and will always be free, and android is based on lenux. Google is propriatory on the android and no one is complaining about that. You even have to have an google based email address for some of the features to work.
Get what you feel you need. Do some research online and make an informed decision.
Take care and as long as you make an informed choice you should be happy with whatever you choose...
I just bought an Iphone 5 btw

  • Iphone really worth getting?

    Greetings!
This post isnt meant to bash the iphone in any way.  Just wanted to get a little better perspective from other people who know more about this than I do.  I have been a long time Verizon customer and have owned multiple phones but never an Iphone.  All I hear from friends of mine is how the iphone is so great and the rest of the competition (android now) really dont measure up.  I just wanted hard facts that really prove that.
Lately I have owned a Blackberry Storm, LG Ally (as a loaner), Droid X (hated every second of it) and now a Fascinate (surprisingly a good phone (with the exception of not getting the 2.2. update yet).
For the limited amount of time I have spent using the iphone I have seen that some parts of the OS are nice but it is very limited on customization.  So far it seems i would have to make a folder and place the icons in there to be able to see my background photo and I cant change the text notification to a clip of a song or voice clip.  To me those are musts in cell phones these days.
I am contemplating getting the iphone but the fascinate has a lot of features I really like.  Swype texting is genius, Amoled screen is flawless and not too mention being able to customize screens with icons / widgets.
But again Im sure there are things about the iphone that I dont know and maybe would sway me its way some more.  Feel free to comment back on why the Iphone is "so great" as people say.

I think it is mostly a personal decision based on your target needs.
For instance I work in a strictly Mac environment and am used to Apple's way of doing things and prefer it. It will also be a seamless addition to synchronize for my business, whereas my Droid isn't exactly seamless.
I look at it more from that angle. Plus I enjoy our iPad and to me the iPhone is a smaller version of the iPad with a phone so I think the "fun" aspect of it is there for me too.
Now if you're looking at it strictly as an entertainment gadget, and there's certainly nothing wrong with that, as I will use it for fun too, then again that is a personal preference thing.
Browsing online (minus the flash - for now at least), facebooking, emailing, I think you'll get similar experiences. if flash is a definite must have then iOS won't give you that. A tleast for the moment.
iTunes vs whatever media player you have? Probably another toss up.
Netflix streaming at least for now I give that to iOS.
    Apps - iOS
Camera- in comparison to my original Droid - definitely iPhone.
Display- iPhone is smaller but, i think nicer. YMMV
[Edited to comply with Terms of Service]
FREE GPS- Android. That is the one thing I will REALLY miss on my Droid. The google voice nav is really awesome. I have to research a good nav app that is cheap for the iPhone.
Cool factor? Meh - I don't care. Once I have a phone for awhile the thrill kind of wears off. Maybe iPhone will change that? I don't consider having the cool phone to define me or make me stand out from the crowd. I'm looking at what the phone will do to add easier productivity to my life. Being a Mac user I have been waiting for the phone on Verizon for a very long time.
Of course I suppose you don't want a phone that looks like a giant Vetnam Military communications walkie-talkie either. No matter what it does . So iPhone IS a nice looking gizmo. I guess that doesn't hurt.
    Good luck with your decision.

  • "Your Message Has Been Read" messages from Samsung Galaxy User

I have an iPhone, my friend has a Samsung Galaxy S4.  Randomly, I will receive what looks like a text message from him saying "Your message to 555-555-5555 has been Read". (that's not his real phone number )
In his messaging app, he does not even see this appear at his end, so it's not like he's typing it out.  It doesn't even register as a message from his end.  It seems to happen randomly with messages, but much more frequently if I send him a picture message.
I have swapped my iPhone with a new one under warranty including a new sim card, plus I've updated from iOS 6 to iOS 7, and it still happens.
On his Galaxy, he has Delivery Reports disabled under his settings.  On my iPhone 4S, I have read receipts disabled as well.
He claims it's me requesting a read receipt, I claim it's his phone sending it to me.  Either way it's annoying as ****!  The fact that it doesn't show up in his messages app makes me think it's something behind the scenes or carrier related.  I'm on Rogers, he's on Telus.
Can anyone help me figure out how to disable these messages from coming in?
Here are pictures to show what I mean:

    Galaxy settings:
    SMS - Delivery Reports unchecked
    MMS - Delivery Reports unchecked
    MMS - Read reports unchecked

My sister is getting about 1 message per minute. She has a Samsung Galaxy II or III. I have an LG G2.
"Your message to (phone #) has been Read"
When I turn on "Airplane mode" on my phone, she stops receiving these text messages, so it's likely my phone.
The issue started when I did a restore of my phone yesterday evening from an backup I created a few hours earlier. The backup utility was LG's backup.
I do have MightyText, but haven't used it in a while. I might try uninstalling it to see if it helps, but I don't think it's related to MightyText. I check "Battery" to see which apps are using my battery to find the culprit, but found nothing unusual.
    I'd appreciate any help.

  • Is The iPhone 5 Really Worth It?

Hopefully I do not get bombarded by hardcore Apple fans but is the iPhone 5 really worth it. I used to have the iPhone 4S, but upgraded it to a Samsung Galaxy S3 and here is what I think of the iPhone 5. With phones like the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3, and the Nokia Lumia 920, I find it hard for the iPhone to win but some people are just brainwashed in Apple's company. The phone is like a iPod Touch 5G but the difference is that you can talk and text but with apps like Free SMS, in theory the only difference is the talk. iMean it is the same thing every year of realease, new hardware and design and new look, but the same interface. Personally I think that the 2 Samsungs and the Nokia are better phones but because of the people who don't realise Apple's products are the same every year one will sell more but it is not about how much it sells, it is about the overall phone. They even rip us off by changing the slot smaller so we have to pay EXTRA to get a converter or get a new dock. Anyway, any thoughts on this?

That's why there is choice in the marketplace - you buy whatever suits your needs/preferences best.
If you want to waste time learning where everything is in constantly changing interfaces every year, then that's your choice.
Many people like familiarity, and don't have time or inclination to re-learn how to use a phone every few months.
it is the same thing every year of realease, new hardware and design and new look
Huh? Either it is the same, or it is new - it can't be both.

  • My friend upgraded his phone last night from an older version of the Samsung galaxy to the Samsung s4 galaxy. I'm an iphone user and now he can't receive any of my text messages. HELP!

So last night my boyfriend upgraded his old Samsung galaxy to the Samsung Galaxy s4. He was able to receive a few of my text messages, but then they randomly started saying "not delivered." I turned on and turned off my phone, and tried the turning off and on imessage and facetime but nothing has worked and I still can't text him. I am receiving his messages just fine, I just can't send any to him. I looked onlne at Apple Support for help but I noticed a majority of the problems were coming from people that switched from iphone to an android, but he has always had an android and I've been using the same iphone 4s the whole time. It is really bugging me, so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  • HT5824 I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off..

I switched over from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S3 & I haven't been able to receive any text messages from iPhones. I have no problem sending the text messages but I'm not receivng any from iPhones at all. It has been about a week now that I'm having this problem. I've already tried fixing it myself and I also went into the sprint store, they tried everything as well. My last option was to contact Apple directly. Please help with turning my iMessage completely off so that I can receive my texts.

If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it.  Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

  • I just traded in my iPhone 4S for Samsung Galaxy 4S, still have iPad. Some of my iPhone contacts are unable to send me a txt that I can receive. But NOT all of my iPhone contacts. I have had them change their settings for my ph number to NOT say iPhone.

I just traded in my iPhone 4S for Samsung Galaxy 4S, still have iPad. Some of my iPhone contacts are unable to send me a txt that I can receive. But NOT all of my iPhone contacts. I have had them change their settings for my ph number to NOT say iPhone. Txt msg is disabled on iPad. I have no idea what to do. I called the support line that I Pay $9.99 a month for. They told me to delete my iTunes account. Will I lose all my pics on my ipad? I have no music download. I'm getting ****** at this whole thing. And it allllllll started with apples update to the ios7.... I HATED IT. Help.

What your iPhone using friends label your phone number in their contacts is irrelevant. I don't know who you pay $9.99 a month to but it's not Apple. You can't disable text messaging on your iPad as it is not capable of SMS.
Do you still have the iPhone? If so, log out of iMessage on the iPhone.
    Try this:
    Go to: https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do
Log in if not already logged in.
    Click on "Edit Products"
Click on the "X" to the right of the product.
    Click "Unregister"
Also, try changing the password on your iTunes account.

I just bought an new ipad mini with wifi and cellular. Is there any way to send text messages to people and contacts that do not have iphones such as friends with blackberrys or a samsung galaxy smartphone from this ipad. Everytime I try to send a message to a person that does not have an Apple product ( Iphone or Ipad ) it comes up saying contact is not registered for iMessage and wont send it. I can only send them a message from my iPhone 4 instead. Do I have to install a new App from the App store to send these non iMessage cell users a message?

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.
I would just wait it out - I'm sure it will be sorted out soon.
