IPhone 5 reboot changes battery meter

Today and yesterday, after fully charging my phone, it dropped  a few % in a short period of time with no use.  Both days, I did a reboot and my battery went back to 100%.   Any thoughts on why this would happen?

Update to my post.  After the reboot tonight, here is my usage :  16 mins used and 1 hr 11 min      Battery meter still at 100%.   Before the reboot usage was:  used 0. Standby 1 hr 15 min.  And battery meter was at 98%.

  • So my iPhone 4S started draining battery after recent update, battery got changed and it worked perfect for 3 days, all of a sudden the phone won't stay on unless connected to mains... Cannot receive any signal "searching" constantly. HELP

So my iPhone 4S started draining battery after recent update, battery got changed and it worked perfect for 3 days, all of a sudden the phone  shut down and now won't stay on unless connected to mains... Claims its at 100% battery but thats impossible as it was at 30% before it shut down randomly.
Cannot receive any signal "searching" constantly.
Turns off as soon as removed from usb ... wont stay on connected to laptop!
    HELP!

The iPhone includes a one year warranty. If an Apple store is not nearby, you can call AppleCare and handle an exchange under warranty over the phone. The exchange will be shipped to your door - someone must sign for the delivery so if no one will be at home, have it delivered where you work. You use the same box to return the existing iPhone back to Apple. Return shipping label and tape to reveal the box incuded - call the carrier with number incuded when the box is ready to be picked up. AppleCare will request a credit card in the event the existing iPhone is not returned within 10 days after the exchange under warranty is received.
Hardware can fail - it happens, which is why there is a one year warranty.

  • Macbook pro is not getting turn on and further when i press power button the green orange light suddenly changes to green again, moreover battery meter is not working

    Hi
Last night my macbook pro gets off automatically when battery gets empty and in the morning it isn't turning on. When i connect the charger, the light on the charger turns green to orange (showing that it is charging) but when i press the power button it suddenly changes to green again. I thought there must not be any connection between the charger light and the power button. And battery meter was running fine.
When it tried this again and again the charger light disappear and battery meter also stops working, when i clearly observe it there is a very dim green light in the charger (not observable in the light) and the laptop is still not showing any change.
    please help!

  • Time for iPhone to reboot after a drained/dead battery

Just wondering the time it would take for my iphone to reboot when it has being drained completely of battery.
I've waited for 5 minutes plugged into the wall adaptor and then another 5 mins on the laptop usb.
btw, my lock button is stuck...

Usually within 4 minutes time, if the iPhone just turned OFF. If turned OFF and then left in a drawer for some months it will take longer.

  • Reboot due to incorrect battery meter...

I am having a problem with my 3rd Gen iPod.
I charge the battery fully. After 1 - 2 hours of playing the iPod, the battery meter will show about 1/4 of a charge left.
Once the battery meter shows 1/4 power left, at any point, playing a song, skipping to a new track etc, the iPod will shutdown with the battery warning indicator.
If I then let it sit for a minitue and turn the iPod back on, the battery meter will display empty, but then it will slowly return to about 1/4 full again after about a min. From this point on, I can get about another hour out of it.
It seems to be a calibration issue but I don't know how to fix it. Any suggestions are welcome!

If the battery was dead when you received it, a complete charge should take four hours or so. Even if the battery meter shows fully charged, you should make sure that your iPod stays plugged in for the duration.
Battery meters often display this behavior - try charging your cell phone for 15 minutes - you'll likely see the same thing.

  • IPhone Battery Meter Never Goes Down

My battery meter will only show 100% charge...then all of a sudden the "please charge" will come on the screen. When I plug it in, the battery meter again shows 100% charge. When I charge it all night it holds a good charge, but I have no indication of when my battery is going to die.

I have experienced the same problem. I actually didn't even get a warning, power just ran out I the phone was dead until I charged for 20 min.

  • Battery Meter Red, Not Charging when plugged

Last night i was using my phone to browse and surf the net. the battery was running out finally it gave me a graphic that i need to plug it in. The graphic was a plug + the electricity symbol. So i plugged it in and the plug and the electricity turned into just the electricity symbol. so i went to bed and when i woke this morning, the phone was on the same screen. It had the battery meter in red, the electricity symbol on the but no charge. So i checked the plug on the wall, and it works. So i decided to plug it in to the computer and still the same. No charge going through.....
I restarted it while still plugged and nothing.
so finally i restarted it, unplugged the cord....then replugged it and it finally started getting charge...
Has this happened to anyone? Or is there some kind of safe gaurd that i dont know about and just making a full of myself on here?

Ok I think I have an answer. This happened to me twice and both times, it resolved the same way.
CAUSE: Both times, this happened when I let the battery run down too much. I was playing a game or listening to music and ignored the low battery warnings thinking I could push it and eventually the iphone shut down. No problem, I thought. I can just plug it in and keep on going. But when I plug it in, the iphone won't charge ... like it normally does. I get the red battery meter and the plug and lightning symbol as previously described. The phone won't turn on. I tried resetting it several time - hard resets as well - with no response. Always to the screen with the red battery.
SOLUTION: What i did both time was to keep the phone plugged in for at least 4 hours and maybe even more. I noticed that the red battery symbol flashes when it is not plugged in but when it is plugged in - the red battery symbol does not flash. Even though the phone is non-responsive in every other way, it seems to recognize if it is plugged into a power source or not. So I kept it plugged in for several hours. By the way, the phone is totally unusable during this time.
After that time period - I did a hard reset and the phone booted up with the white apple symbol and I started recharging again - this time it took.
I did this TWICE so I think it will work in the future.
THEORY: I am not a computer person (I'm a gynecologist in real life) but I will try to explain this behavior as best as possible. I think when the battery runs down too low it shuts down. But it shuts down EVERYTHING! Even the software that charges up the battery - which is a bug that Apple needs to fix - but everything shuts down. So this may sound stupid but it seems that when it is shut down to this degree the phone does not know how to charge itself. That is why nothing works. The phone remains shut down. It does not reboot. It does not charge up. However, as noted above, the phone does seem to recognize when it is plugged in to a power source or not as indicated by the flashes on the red battery symbol. It flashes if it is not plugged in and it stops flashing when it is plugged.
Anyways, even though the phone does not know how to charge up, it is charging anyways - but only by a trickle. A microscopic trickle. And it takes a couple of hours via this trickle to charge up the phone to a certain level to be able to reboot. After the reboot - you have to charge up the battery again - but since the phone is now working, it knows how to charge itself up normally.
Again, this is an amateur theory but I can't explain this behavior any other way.

  • My iphone is currently using battery life much more quickly than inthe past, and it also has an icon tht is starying on the screen, to the left of the battery charge percentage, that looks like a lock with a circle around it

i have an iphone that is using battery life much more quickly than in the past, a full charge is going to zero in a half a day or so, with out much use.
an icon is also appearing next to the charge percentage in the top right, and the icon is a circle around a lock
can anyone tell me what the problem is, and what the icon means?

The Icon meas your display orientation is locked to vertical so it wont change when you turn the phone sideways.
First thing you should check with the battery life is multitasking, which also happens to be where the orientation lock can be turned off.  check out   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4211 and go from there

  • Why is the battery meter so annoyin?

Ok heres the thin, i got my 5g black 30gig ipod two weeks ago...everythin was fine, until after the first full charge i noticed after about an hour of music the battery meter was down to 3/4 of a charge and kept goin down dramatically, after reading some of the disscussions i did the update and charged it untill it said full, so then after about 4 1/2 hours its in the red, so obviously it still goes down quite fast, to calibrate it at the moment by runnin it till dead, so has anybody else had this problem, and what happened to you....another thing what is the best way to charge it...through an ac adapter or computer.

ok...using my ipod normally (between .5 and 1 hour a day right now) the battery lasted about 8 hours....so it ran for 3.5 hours in the red...this is really dissapointing although it says that it will run 8-12 hours, but also realizing that was the first time doin a charge discharge cycle to try and calibrate it but after charging it the meter is doin the exact same thing...after fully chargin it, the second i start playin music the meter goes down...now the backlight timer is 2 seconds, the eq is off, and the library is on shuffle...and i only change songs once in a while...so why am i only gettin 8 hours?

  • Apple TV changed battery screen shows setting  time etc now it will not start

I had to change battery in remote (2nd gen apple TV) now it starts setting time etc screen is blank. I swithced it off waited 30 secs, no luck!!!!
I cannot go to menu as it does not allow me. Has anyone got any suggestions??

Here's what finally worked for me with Apple TV 3rd generation. Out of the box, when setup with wi-fi, it breezed through without any issue. As soon as I powered down and connected it to another tv (same wi-fi network), it got stuck at setting date/time. The remote would help in getting out of it, but the home would only have "Computers" and "Settings" and pretty much useless except for AirPlay. Here's what I did to resolve this:
    1. On your main router, temporarily disable the firewall or set it to the lowest setting allowable (a reboot of the router maybe required).
    2. Restart apple tv via the "restart" option in the "General" option in the main settings menu.
    3. It should breeze through and not show the "Setting date/time" screen.
    4. Once it loads up properly, turn on your fire wall as before  (a reboot of the router maybe required).
I think it worked for me out of the box, but auto-update to the latest software introduced this bug. So, everytime apple tv tries to synch with the time server, this issue will come back. To disable this, I turned off the "auto time synch" option in Settings -> General.
I am fairly confident that I'd be able to use steps 1 through 4 anytime this recurs. Possible scenarios causing recurrence of this issue:
    1. Unplugging the power to apple tv or power failures.
    2. OS updates.
    3. Restoring apple tv using "Restore" or via micro-usb and iTunes to the lastest OS.
Hope this helps. Please post if this works for you.

  • 2.1 firmware update displays incorrect battery meter

After installing firmware 2.1 on my iphone I started noticing my battery meter displaying the incorrect charge level. I charged it in full yesterday, and this morning I still had more than half the battery meter. I checked 10 minutes later and the meter was now showing 10% left with the red battery meter.
I went ahead and charged it again , used it for a while and now noticed that the battery meter is not only showing the incorrect amount left (still) but shows a different battery status on different menu screens. Shows battery meter to be full in the home screen and half the meter on an app, email ,etc.
Firmware 2.1 has definitely messed up the meter!
inaccurate reading on the battery meter , someone else has to be experiencing this same problem.
let me know if someone else has this same problem !

try draining out the battery first and then recharge it, see if that shows an accurate. I had that happen to me on the 2.02 update. The battery meter was inaccurate. Like when i reached 20% it was actually at 50% when i plug it in to charge. So i did sent them a feedback about it. So I'm hoping that the 2.1 fixes this issue. So far my battery is showing at 100%.
Usually for me at the end of the day after a full charge in the morning, the battery meter would go down 1 bar. So i'll have to wait and see.

  • IOS 4.1 on 3G - Battery Meter Wrong

Has anyone had problems with the battery meter after updating to 4.1? The meter is correct while discharging, but not while charging. To get an accurate reading after a charge, the only solution I've found is rebooting the phone. I've tried several times with the same result. Also, I've tried draining to see if recalibration was needed or something. Any help would be appreciated.

    Greetings,
There is likely no issue with your phone/software, other than you may need to calibrate the meter. That old phone can have a meter go out of calibration with the installation of iOS 4.1, especially if you are going straight from 3.13.
All you have to do is to charge it up overnight, then run it down all the way until it shuts itself all the way off, not just go to sleep. After that let it rest a half hour or so, and fully charge it, without using it. It's best to plug it in, and then do a full shut down, and let it charge fully. The meter should be in calibration, after that.
I've seen some folks have to do this a couple of times, if they continually short charge it, but once is usually enough.
I wouldn't pay too much attention to what the meter says while it's charging, as other things are going on that will make the meter fluctuate a bit, since it's on.
    Cheers,
    M.

I've the iphone 4s, and My battery show me 40% than the phone shut down, some of my friends the same, from when i'll update the system os.
We've think that Apple do it for making the change of the phone!!  :O
what will we have to do for making the downgrade of OS of the phone?
    tks Andrea

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
Apple has never supported downgrading of the iOS.
