IPhone 5: Receiving test messages late

I have an iPhone 5, and everytime I text my sister.. it always shows up late..
It's just for my sisters contact and no-one elses.. Anyone, can you help?

Received text message late!

Earlier today, my wife, and I were texting to each other, and we both were receiving our messages within 30-60 seconds. At approximately 5:09 pm my wife texted me to let me know when she would be home so I could start dinner.
Well the next thing I know is that my wife is entering our garage, and I ask, how come you didn't call or text me, and she said she did text at 5:09, and she showed me her phone (iphone 4), and it was time stamped at 5:09 that the message was sent.
At approximately 6:05pm (54 minutes later) I received her text on my phone. This isn't exceptable, especially when, or if there was an emergency. what would caused this to occur?

Again, your both right. this problem is not an internet provider problem, it's a cellphone carrier problem, and yes they can not guarantee that your text will arrive in seconds or minutes. This is the first time it's taken this long for me to receive a text from anyone.
My kids (adults) send us texts all the time (from the east coast), and we receive them fairly quick, and we're on the west coast, but since this doesn't occur all the time I guess we can deal with it. Everything else works great.

IPhone 3G - SMS /Test Messaging Options?

Can anyone tell me if there are any iphone settings or downloadable apps that can change the current look of how sms messages appear on screen. Rather than the bubble conversation look, can you set up folders to store messages in? Can you change the look to single view messages only, etc, etc?

I am having a similar issue, though it is not a "phantom" message.
I get a text message and it'll chime.
If I don't "read" the message/don't touch the phone and allow it to go back to sleep, the SMS tone chimes again about 4-5 minutes later but it does not activate the screen.
Thinking I have a new text, I will activate the screen and see that it was the SMS text I had received 5 minutes earlier and there is, in fact, no new message.
Is this just an alert that you had received a message earlier or is this a bug?

Make macbook and iphone dont receive same messages

How can I set up my macbook and/or iphone so that if "message" on my macbook is open, then iphone would stop receiving messages, i.e. I will not need to look at the same messages on iphone that I've already looked at on my macbook.

Why does my iphone not receive group messages if there is a non iphone user in the group?

I Have an iphone 4 with the latest update. Whenever anyone sends a group message to me when there is a non-iphone user in the group, my phone does not receive the message. I've tried restarting and it doesnt work. i have sms messaging turned on. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Why can't I transfer received test messages from my bb curve 9360 to my pc?

I received some text messages which includes photos on my bb curve 9360 and cannot find any way to copy the photos from the text messages onto my pc. Alternativly, If I could only find out how to transfer these photos in the text messages to the camera sections photos on the bb. When I connect the bb to the computer and utilise the bb desktop sw I can see the photos from the photo media section on the pc but not the photos in the text messages.
Can anyone help me as I have scanned the web hoping for some method but cannot find it. Thanks in anticipation of a reply.

Have you try to save image in your test message?
Hover to the photo and BB button and look for "Save image".

My iphone wont receive any text messages. I can send them but can't get any. i know i have friends so i know that just no one isnt texting me. i can do everything except get text messages. i called my carrier and they said everything running on my phone so now i dont know what i need to do someone help

My sone had same problem. This may or may not help but it solved it for me.
The problem was'nt with the phone or the carrier it was to do with the iphone sending the text to my sons phone.
So on the phone sending message make sure of the following:
Settings
Messages
Make sure imessage is checked so the menu changes so you can then see send as SMS
Make sure that is checked
also MMS

If you still can't send or receive SMS or MMS messages
See the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant.
Verify that every phone number in your contacts list includes an area code.
When sending to existing contacts, ensure that your contacts include the full phone number, and not just the information needed to dial locally.
If you have recently ported your number from another carrier, please contact your current carrier to verify that the porting process has completed successfully.

2 iphones both receive same messages and sometimes phone calls. What causes this?

My wife and I both have iphones but we are receiving each others messages and sometimes phone calls even though different phones. What is causing this? Both phones registered under the same user. Means she is seeing my texts messages and vice versa.

If you are receiving imessages intended for other devices you can fix this by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both devices if they are iPhones; or
On one of the devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign in with a different Apple ID. Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for the iTunes & App store for purchasing if you wish; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and other services.

Iphone 5 receives text messages but will not send text messages

Since yesterday my boyfriends iphone 5 will not send text messages. He can receive them but when he goes to reply it doesnt work. He has turned his phone off and on and that seems to work for awhile but then the same problem happens again where he cannot send a text message. Was wondering if there was any way in fixing this or why his phone is all of a sudden doing this.

So I should update this. The phone actually loses service, I have reset the network connection as well as I have updated the carrier settings and the phone is still losing service randomly. I called the carrier and they told me there is nothhing they can do unless we bring the phone in, they believe it could be the sim card because everything on their end looks to be fine. So I'll be going to the carrier store this evening to see if they can fix the problem if not then I will be going to the apple store. Do hope this problem gets fixed soon.

Not receiving text messages intermittently

I have an iPhone 4s and never had any problems but last night my iPhone stopped receiving text messages (from other iPhone users and other phone types). I messed around with my settings and my text messages started appearing again (although I can't remember what I pressed now)! I got a few people to send test text messages and I received these but again this evening I've stopped receiving text messages again. What's the solution?

Apple offers a ridiculous "solution" for a problem they created.
I recently switched from iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy S5. It became clear shortly after activation that I was not receiving texts from other iPhone users.
After a quick search it became clear that the issue was with iMessage. That is, otheriPhone users were sending me texts via iMessage. While this problem appears to be widespread and my search revealed a class action lawsuit against Apple for this issue, there were no viable solutions.
In a nutshell, Apple support told me the ONLY fixes to this issues were to 1. Have all of my contacts delete our text thread and 2. Wait 45 days for iMessage to expire. This is outrageous and not a solution at all.

Disable iMessage. reset network settings. Enable iMessage again.

My iphone cannot receive email in sleep mode

I just got my iphone. And I noticed my iphone cannot receive email messages in sleep mode. I tried this several times. I sent an email to my iphone email account. Wait for a long time. And nothing happens. But as soon as I bring my iphone out of sleep mode, I got that email (and vibration and sound)
Last night, I re-booted my iphone. Then I received one email message in sleep mode. But after that, I cannot receive messages in sleep mode again even after I tried to re-boot it again and again.
Can anybody give some suggestions?

I don't know about Yahoo specifically but it works just fine for me in sleep mode with a 15 minute setting and push mode with a number of different accounts (including IMAP).
Fetching still works for me with push mode on. Curiouser and curiouser that you're having problems.... I can't see a difference but yours works and mine doesn't (apart from you're using Yahoo and I'm not....)
