what do i do when my iphone is stuck on a screen that has the itunes circle on it and a picture of the usb cord connection on it it is just frozen

You probably have to go through a restore of the phone.
Plug the phone in and launch iTunes, then select your phone from the left side of the menu.
There will be an option to restore the phone and click that button.
That will erase and restore the phone.  After it's done, it will ask you to restore from a recent backup, and you can choose to go ahead and restore.
You should be back up and running from there, but may have to do some minor tweeks to get yourself back up exactly as you left off.  Some things like your visual voicemail password and email passwords may have to be entered again, but you'll be in good shape.

  • Iphone has gone to a screen to plug in itunes, but itunes does not recognise it

I updated the software on my iphone4 and after updating the iphone has gone to a screen to plug in itunes, but itunes does not recognise it. i have reloaded itunes, done a hard reset and still nothing. any ideas?

    Gotcha,
If you have an iCloud account you might want to consider syncing that way so you won't have to use cables but that is certainly up to you.
    Try:
    1.) Backup all your data:
    Backup your iOS device: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Backup your computer Addressbook: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad961.html
Backup iCal:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
2.) Reset the computer's sync services and then restart the computer: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
3.) Plug in the iOS device and attempt a sync.
--- Check the Info tab in iTunes to make sure calendars are still set to sync.
If that does not resolve the issue let me know and I'll give you a different route.

  • Help! iPhone 3gs reset went wrong and nothing helps

Is there anyone in the world that can help me?
The audio memo notes app was broken. Wanting to fix it, I did a soft reset. That didn't fix it. I finally did a full reset and it solved the problem. When I connected my iPhone to my computer it suggested that I reinstall from a backup. But as I did that, there was an error (probably because I wasn't connected to internet). My iphone is giving me the blue iTunes icon and usb cable image.
Now, whenever I try to connect my iPhone, iTunes tells me that there is an unfinished backup. It doesn't even give me the option of starting from factory defaults:
So in the screen capture, you see that it says I can restore the phone to factory settings by clicking on the botton.
It seems to work fine until it tries to validate it with Apple. At that point it gives me an unknown error 9:
Is there anyone in the world that can help me?

Thank you JayPe for trying to help! I'm hopeful again because of the ALT key tip. I looked all over the web yesterday, but you're the first one to mention that trick!
I've tried what you told me, but it doesn't work. I get a message saying the firmware isn't accepted by the phone. Any other ideas? An older firmware that would work for sure? I tried all the iOS 6's I could find to no avail.

1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

  • How to restore when during update, got 'connect to itunes" icon, no option to restore?

I was doing the latest update, but something went wrong and I got an update failed message. iPod touch had "connect to itunes" icon. iTunes did have a restore button, but only for an instant, and it went away (stupid robo-call rang, and I may have jumped). Now iTunes won't give me a restore option, and sync option in File/devices is grayed out.
Itunes also doesn't recognize the iPod when I plug it in, although the computer knows it's there. (Makes a sound when I connect it.)
I have rebooted computer, checked iTunes is latest version.
Tried the solution of holding down power and home buttons. The apple icon came up, but then it went immediately to the "connect to itunes" message.
I haven't tried the solutions that require you download a jailbreak program. Hope that isn't necessary.
Looked all over the internet, and haven't found a situation described where iTunes took away the restore option. Can someone help me?

  • HT6058 During the installation of the ios 7.0.4 update my screen froze with the iTunes icon and arrow under that and a picture of the usb plug under that.  Thanks for messing up my perfectly well functioning IPad 2 with your lousy update!  What now?

During the ios 7.0.4 update, my IPad 2 froze.  The picture on the screen is an iTunes icon, and arrow inder that and a picture of the apple usb cord.  It will not go away.  I have tried hard and soft turn offs.  Please help!

    Philly:
When there is an iOS update available, iTunes asks if you want to install it. I chose to only download the iOS 7.0.6 update, but not to install it until I had done a backup of everything on my iPad. When that iOS 7.0.6 update failed, I had NO iOS at all, just a bricked iPad.
When my son did a "clean restore" that was the same thing you'd do to wipe an iPad - just install iOS 7.0.6 and install basic iPad apps.  When you turn the iPad on after that, it indicates it wants to be connected to iTunes. At that point, my son yanked the cord so nothing else was installed.  Then, with iOS 7.0.6 already installed, iTunes on my PC didn't say it wanted to update iOS, and allowed me to choose my previous backup to be restored. All was straightforward after that.
Again, there are places on he web where you can download various versions of iOS, along with a PC utility that will do the iOS update. I think these utilities are for when you want to hack your device, so I'm not crazy about this approach.
