Iphone 5, running 6.1.3, acts on its own when left alone

I am using an Iphone 5, running IOS 6.1.3.
I have noticed in the past and just now that sometimes the Iphone acts on its own will.
This time, after leaving the phone charge from zero for an hour or so, I have noticed the following:
When woke up, the screen will unresponsive to touch, I slide my finger across the screen and it will not open any messages or calendar appointments
Once running, if I leave the phone rest on the table (without me holding it or anything), the phone starts opening apps, typing a leter here and there on text messages, moves apps around the screen...
My questions are:
Is this something someone has registered before?
Is this a hardware or software issue?
Can an Iphone 5 be controlled remotely by someone else?
Thanks
EB

That's probably a hardware problem.

You may have a faulty power button. Take it to an Apple store for an evaluation.

  • When I use the keyboard on my iphone 5, the keyboard takes a mind of its own.  If I press a letter sometimeIs it puts the letter twice.  It puts periods when I don't want it to.  And if I hesitate on a letter it starts erasing everything I just typed.

What user troubleshooting have you tried? The user troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new. Usually a reset will fix most of the unusual actions by the device.

  • IPhone switching to a different wifi network on its own.

I have a 4S running 5.0 and live in an apartment complex with free wifi, however I use my own private network with an Airport Extreme. Life is good! But occasionally (perhaps every other day and without leaving the apartment) I’ll notice my iPhone’s wifi signal is less than the usual full strength. When I check its wifi settings I see it’s switched over to the apartment network on its own. Any idea why? And what can I do to keep it locked on to my own network? Thanks in advance.

You can go to settings, WFi and search or all networks, it should still come up in the search.  To be really covered, write down the name of he network, then you can always use Other...which lets you enter the name of a network to join.
If you are on earned about it, just keep operating normally and if you end up on he network, Forget it then.

  • ITunes relaunches on its own when iPhone is plugged in?!

    Hi guys,
This "issue" never happened before, but since I upgraded iOS to version 7 on my iPhone 4 (GSM), iTunes (also recently and manually updated to the latest version) will restart after I close it when my phone is plugged in in USB. Basically, I back up / sync my iPhone, then close iTunes. About thirty seconds later, iTunes restarts on its own, and I have to close it again to keep it that way, until the next restart.
At first, I thought it had to do with a loose or shaky USB slot, but I let my Mac sit on a flat surface, with the iPhone by its side, and every time I close iTunes, it restarts on its own, no matter what. Repairing permissions didn't help.
This is driving me nuts, all the more so since I've checked in iTunes preferences, and couldn't find any mention of a "keep alive" iTunes functionality.
I should add that this problem also happens when syncing via Wifi, but not as regularly as in USB mode.
Ideas, anyone? Should I check or uncheck something on the iPhone?

Well, sure enough, there it was, and boy, it didn't come alone...

I updated my iphone 5s on Sunday.  Every since then it is like my phone is possessed.   It will randomly click on photos and zoom in and out, even while sitting on a desk with no one touching it.   If you try to type a text message, or even have the keyboard up, the caps buttom will randomly light up and unlight on its own.  VERY frustrating!!!!   It will also scroll through the app screens all on its own with no one touching the phone.  Anyone have any suggestions?

It would have been helpful of you to have mentioned what you have already tried.
Back up and restore your software via iTunes. If the problem continues, restore as a NEW device. If this solves it, that means there is some corruption in your backup file, or maybe it's one of your apps causing the trouble. If the problem is still there, you should take it to the Genius Bar at an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Iphone likes to shut down on its own when handled

For the last week my iphone has got a mind of its own and like to try to shut down on its own. Sometimes it would give me the red button+slide to turn off...sometimes it just goes to the Apple logo then shuts down.
No hacks on it, maybe two apps max like ebay so really nothing that would point out to an issue. This is also a replacement my original phone had a screen issue this summer where you could not touch anything else than the bottom bar. I swapped it for this one so it is virtually new.
Not sure if it is the button on the top that is stuck and it does not look like it.
Any similar experiences? I heard other users had issues with their iphone shutting down for no reason.

It does sound like the Sleep/Wake button may be stuck or overly sensitive.
If you lightly tap on it, does the phone turn off?

  • My iPhone 4 (16 gig) is powering off on its own at random intervals when I'm using it.

My iphone 4 seems to have develpoed a power issue where it goes off while I'm using it...and if I leave it the screen will come back on, on its own even pulling up the screen to turn the phone off.  The phone is 9 months old.

Will the reset you're referring to take all that's on my iphone 4 off of it. Erasing contacts, apps and such?
It has no effect on data or settings. You can do it every minute without any detriment.
Even if that were not true (which it is) you should have the confidence provided by having backups of all your important data. Your expression of worry indicates that you are not doing this. I don't know how you sleep nights....

  • Iphone 6 screen spontaneously cracked all over on its own

    Hello,
I was sitting next to my iPhone 6 and the screen spontaneously cracked... it literally looks like someone took a hammer to my phone. Nothing dropped on it...i was literally sitting beside it and looked at it and the screen was shattered.
Has this happened to anyone? What should i do?

    Thanks for the reply Meg...
A micro fracture can cause the entire screen to shatter? It looks like someone took a hammer to the surrounding area of the home button...and it ran cracks all through the lower bottom with a crack running up all the way to the top...its crazy

  • My iphone 4 is possessed.  it works on its own, calling people, sending texts, opening apps, etc.  i can't even text anyone without it taking over.

anyone know what i should do?

    Standard troubleshooting...
Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider.  Slide to power off.  Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if, it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
    - From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
    - Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
    - Press the red (-) to delete all apps from this list.
    - Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

  • My ipod is acting on its own. It goes to voice command on its own and it will go to the home screen and possibly the search screen even when im in an app. also the multitasking will be brought up. and it turns itself on. what do i do to fix this.

i also tried the reset by holding the lock and the home button but it didnt seem to fix it. and this started after i let a friend borrow it for a night. and its not jail broke.

    - Disconnect headphones if you are using them
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Link work iPhone with its own Apple ID to personal iTunes match.

I recently received an iPhone 5c from work.  The phone has its own Apple ID.  How do I link my personal iTunes match with the work phone?
    Harold

    HI
You cannot link your work Apple ID with your own Apple id. Match can only be used with the Apple ID that you used to subscribe to match.

  • Automator to run on its own

Is there a way to tell automator to "Run" the script with out me having to click "Run"? I basically just want automator to open the script, run the script, and close by itself. I have figured out how to do all but tell it to run on its own. Thank you in advance
    Andrew

What I have done is this:
Created a script to copy three folders on my desktop to my idisk drive and then it will automatically close Automator.
I placed the script in my startup items so it will run daily. The only thing I am having issues with is that when the script loads I have to click "Run" for the script to run. What I was wondering if there is a way for the script to just run on its own when it is lunched. Here is my overall goal of what it should do without me having to do anything.
    1. OSX opens script during log on. (Solved)
    2. Automator runs script on its won. (Unsolved)
    3. Automator closes script. (Solved)
