  • IPhone 5 running ios7.1.1 is no longer recognised by iTunes on my iMac?

I am running a MacBook Pro and an iMac. I have an iPhone 5. This was running fine until the last update 7.1.1 and not I can't sync or charge from either computer! What's going on? Any solutions?

This seems to have fixed the issue: on your desktop, hold down the [OPT] key and click on "Go" in the menu bar; holding down the [OPT] click on Library, find Preferences, and then delete all the files that start with "com.apple.itunes.XXXX.plist" where the "XXX" is whatever other things may exist - as long as they end in "plist". From my experience, preference files are rebuilt by the system after the next restart, so you have very little worry of losing any important data; the worst that could happen )and NOT in this instance, but for other plist files) is that you may have to reset the application "preferences" again when you next start it up, to act or appear in a "preferred" customized way for you.
Once you delete the .plist files, empty the Trash, and either log out or restart the computer. Once you're back up and operational, start iTunes and your iDevices should reappear in the sidebar (if that's open) and/or at the top of the screen (if that view is enabled).
Hope that helps. It definitely fixed my problem!

    If you want.
or maybe install Snow Leopard using the disc it came on with my Mac and just set it up from a Time Machine Backup on my external hard drive (since it works under SL)?
Did you install Lion on an empty partition, or did you upgrade Snow Leopard?  If you upgraded, I'd not recommend erasing it, since your backups are apparently gone.  It's doubtful Snow Leopard will recognize them.
It's not just backups on the drive either, there are other important things on there, so why won't they show?
Mixing Time Machine backups and other data is not a good idea.  See #3 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  It sounds like the whole disk is corrupted.
I just really don't understand how this happened. Could it not be an issue with WD because they haven't issued firmware to support Lion yet?
If this is a simple external HD, connected by USB or FireWire, no, unless you installed some of WD's software on it.  That shouldn't prevent it from being seen at all, but anything's possible.

  • How can I delete music from my iPhone 4 (iOS7) when I manually manage the music in iTunes, but it has no affect on my phone's music library?

I'm attempting to delete music from my iPhone 4 (iOS7). When I connect it to iTunes, and the music shows up, I delete the music from the phone. When I disconnect the phone, the music is still there. The same thing happens if I try to sync the phone before disconnecting. I have "manually manage music" checked. Additionally, when I reconnect my iPhone, the music I "deleted" from it when it was previously connected to iTunes no longer appears, preventing me from trying to delete it again.
I know I can swipe left on each song to delete it on my phone, and I have been, but that takes a long time when you're trying to delete everything on your iPhone.
    Suggestions?

  • TS1363 iPod classic no longer recognised in iTunes (v11)

I have an 80gb iPod classic that, since I upgraded iTunes to the latest version in December 2012, no longer gets recognised within iTunes, so I cannot sync it anymore.
I am running a PC on windows 7, with iTunes v11 (the latest version as I have removed and replaced it several times in the last 24 hours).
My PC does recognise the iPod in "My Computer".
I have spent hours trying all sorts of Apple Troubleshooting guides, to no avail.
First I tried the reset: http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Then I went through each of these steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363
I've also tried various different apple USB cables, and different USB ports on my PC.
My iPhone 4 connects no problem.
My iPod Classic used to connect no problem until I downloaded the latest / current version of iTunes.
Other than not being able to sync my ipod with itunes, the ipod works and behaves totally normal...
    VERY frustrating. PLEASE help.
    Thanks.

  • Ipod no longer recognised in Itunes 12

I bought some music that I would like to add to my Ipod (an older model). Annoyingly, it doesn't show up in Itunes anymore! I've read that it might be under playlists, but it isn't there either. I have this new Itunes 12 now on my Macbook Air so I'm guessing it might be because of that.
I simply cannot believe that Apple would have screwed this up so badly, so what am I missing here? My ipod does start charging, but it doesn't show the "connected" screen anymore.
I obviously tried restarting/reconnecting everything a couple of times and I checked if there is an update available (there isn't). I have Mountain Lion OSX and I don't intent to download Yosemite, as I don't like the way it looks.

    Hi usernames_suck,

  • IPod Classic wiped itself & is no longer recognised in iTunes

iPod Classic, 80GB, from Dec 2007.
Plugged iPod in to laptop as normal (Acer Aspire 7730ZG, using WIN7 Ultimate at the time) & tried to add an album. Process froze & iPod would not update. It would not respond within iTunes, so I manually ejected via Windows. Upon ejection, the iPod reset itself & wiped all content & settings.
Since then, the iPod is not recognised by iTunes & is inaccessible. The iPod is recognised as a device in Windows, but I cannot format it or run any diagnostics via Properties. Each time I eject the iPod it resets itself as well.
I have tried various solutions that have previously been posted, but no luck so far. iPod can be put in Disk Mode, but just sits at 'Do not disconnect' (again, is recognised by Windows as a removable device).
iPod diagnostics gives me the following:
    Retracts: 201
    Reallocs: 4
    Pending Sectors: 6
    PowerOn Hours: 1007
    Start/Stops: 167
    Temp: Current 31c
    Temp: Min 12c
    Temp: Max 47c
    Any advice/help is much appreciated!

Hmm. I was having problems with one of my iPods recently that in the past I've fixed by simply wiping the hard drive. The DFU restore worked quickly for me once I was told about it but prior to that I had reformatted the drive using EaseUS Partition Master Home Edition (Free). Perhaps that had some useful effects after all. It may also be a good idea to disable any real-time anti-virus products while you do the update in case they are interfering with the process.

  • IPhone 3G running iOS 4.0 is no longer recognized in iTunes

My iPhone 3G, which I had successfully (after much labor) upgraded to iOS 4.0, started having problems yesterday. I was getting this message after downloading some photos:
"An iPhone has been detected but it could not be identified properly Please disconnect and reconnect the iPhone, then try again."
I have tried everything, and was still getting this message.
Then something changed, and it totally does not recognize the iPhone. I want to go back to iOS 3.1.3, and have it to he point where it is ready to be restored, but it is not visible in iTunes, so I don't know how to proceed.

So after trying several times to connect to my mac and be recognized, my iPhone 3G finally showed up in iPhoto with what appeared to be a blank photo, so I let it get imported, and it turned out to be two photos that I had been trying to import when these problems surfaced. It brought them in OK. And I noticed that it had the proper name for my iPhone: Glen Grayson's iPhone.
Then I went to iTunes, and saw that I had the option to restore a device, which it is calling "Untitled Playlist". The capacity of Untitled Playlist matches my iPhone. So right now, I am restoring iPhone, starting with Backing up untitled Playlist, which I am not sure is even a good idea. It is going very slowly.

  • IPhone 3G no longer recognised by iTunes 8 under 10.5.5

Running my phone with 2.1 on an intel iMac with iTunes 8 and 10.5.5
The phone no longer shows up under the devices list of iTunes. This has only happened in the last couple of days and seems to have co-incided with "upgrading" from 10.5.4 to 10.5.5
Anyone else have this problem? One suggested solution was to disable the genius function, but this doesnt have any impact upon the problem. iTunes wont see my iPod Touch and also has sporadic problems seeing the Apple TV, although the latter does eventually show up.
It does seem to be 10.5.5 that is the problem as I've had no previous problems either with the fw 2.1 or upgrading to itunes 8 and using the genius function.

Well I'll give this a try, but I see no reason why this should necessarily help. My phone has been plugged into a USB port on an Iomega MiniMax external hard drive and has been instantly recognised for weeks before a couple of nights ago.
Its extremely frustrating that on a £1200 computer you only get three USB ports - absolutely pathetic considering the mini has 4. I've seen apologists for Apple saying that the keyboard gives you more, but what if you use bluetooth? And as anyone knows - try using a keyboard hub for anything more than a mouse, and misery soon results!

  • IPhone 4S running iOS 5.1.1 is not recognised by iTunes 10.6.3

    Hi all,
When I plug my iPhone 4S into my Mac Book Pro running Mac OS X Lion  10.7.4, iTunes 10.6.3 does not recognise the device.  The iPhone is running iOS 5.1.1.
I have read the steps within http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 and http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1747 (for Mac OS X 10.6.8 or Earlier) and unfortunately they do not help.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you
    Adrian

Restore the phone as New, and do not reload your backup. If you still have a problem with it you have a hardware problem.

  • IPhone 4S no longer recognised on iTunes 10.6.3 after iOS 7 update

    Hi,
I am having problems with my iPhone 4S connecting to iTunes now I have updated to iOS 7. iTunes says I need version 11.1 for my phone to be recognised (i currently have iTunes 10.6.3) so, I go to download 11.1 and it wont do it because my mac software needs to be updated to OSX 10.6.8! (i am currently OSX 10.5.8) so I go to the software centre to download 10.6.8 but it tells me that my mac is up to date....
Is my mac too old now and Apple no longer support it?... (im on Leopard i believe - old i know!!) I hope not! updating my iPhone to iOS 7 should not force me to buy a new mac! (although i would quite like to update mine )
Any support that someone can give me would be great becuase I dont live very close to a mac store to go in and ask for help.
    Many Thanks
    Kezia
