Iphone 5 screen brightness

Hi . iPhone 5 does not decrease the brightness of my screen.help me please

While the phone is on and in the "black screen", press and hold the home button and the power button at the same time until you see the Apple logo appear. Then release them. This resolved my issue I was having with this problem. Good luck.

  • IPhone Screen Brightness

I don't know if anyone else has noticed it, but it seems like different iphones have different screen brightness. I compared my iphone with some iphones in the apple store and the screen was quite brigther at the max setting. Then I compared it with another person's iphone and my screen was slightly dimmer, or more "saturated" in color. Now, I have no problems with my screen. It is bright enough, but it just seems odd that the brightness of the screens is not the same throughout. Are my eyes are playing tricks on me or is this something that some of you have also observed?

Your absolutely right I have also notice several differences in some iPhones. For example, the two that I have purchased a month apart from each other are dramatically different. I don't know how it happened but the one I got at launch had a soft screen that left discoloration marks, similar to a standard LCD screen, when a little finger pressure was applied. The battery life indicator rarely reached full charge. Additionally, the multi-touch grid points can clearly be seen behind black backgrounds i.e. the home screen. I also experienced glitches with the unit from day one. Mainly application hang-ups which left me little choice but a hard reset. A total of 16 hard reset since June 29. After attempting the software update (which I thought would cure all ills) earlier this week, the unit hung up on the boot logo for good. So after 30-days with this unit I returned to the 5th Avenue and asked that the unit be exchanged. They said no, they could only send it out for repair. I simply reasoned that it was illogical to repair an already defective item. The manager agreed and kindly swapped the unit for me.
All I could say is...Wow! I didn't know what I was missing. This new unit has a hard screen with no grid points, battery OK, Apps seem to be more responsive, and no hang-ups so far. Good luck to all.

  • IPhone screen brightness/colour

So my mate just got a replacement iphone from an apple store, and as i was looking at it next to mine i was amazed at how much brighter and better his screen was. when you open something like the settings page he had a nice bright white background, where as mine is a dullish grey with a kind of pink tinge....i checked the brightness settings, set them both high, low everything, his screen is so much better, is this a common thing or a fault?

The original iPhone has a different tint to the screen then the 3G iPhone. The 3G iPhone has a yellower tint to it but whites are pretty much white, where as the original has a blueish tint to it.

  • Screen Brightness on iphone 4s

My iphone 4s has had a problem after i upgraded to ios 6 , the screen can be at one moment fully readable with the adjustment on brightness set to the middle ,,and then its light is off , checking the brightness its reset itself to no brightness , this happens with the auto switched on or off , i have hard reset the iphone , used itunes to do a restore and have set it up as a new iphone but the problem will not go away. Even on the charger i have the brightness set to mid way and when i take the phone off the charger the brightness bar moves to no brightness , i have one time had the screen on the brightness settings and watched the brightness bar lower to no brightness , this is with the auto brightness option switched off , this also happens with the auto brightness switched on as well.
All these problems happened after upgrading to ios 6 , the one thing i did notice after the first upgrade was the screen itself had a higher brightness than before , now the phone mostly sits at home as i cannot use the iphone as the screen brightness changes so much its become a pain to use , so i have to use my wifes samsung galaxy s3 , any ideas on how to sort this problem out or is it a trip to the apple store to get a new iphone 4s ?

I've upgraded to iOS 7 and I have the issue on an iPhone 4S. I can't remember this happening on iOS 6, but there may have been one or two occassions where it did. So, with regards to Julia98765's post above, in my case it just got a whole lot worse with iOS 7, much as I love everything else about it!
The screen starts off on my normal brightness level (auto is off), and then anywhere between a few minutes to just a few seconds, the screen goes totally dark, like it has been slid to the minimal brightness setting. From then on, the screen fluctuates wildy, sometimes snapping back to full normal brightness, but mostly just dim flickering until it decides to settle down in its dim state, or if it has been locked for a few minutes by which time it is showing normal brightness levels again.
Then the whole thing repeats itself. This happens in one form or another pretty much every time I use my phone! The only thing I haven't tried yet is restoring the phone through iTunes so will give that a go and report back soon.

  • Iphone 6 screen brightness problem

hello everybody, i have iphone 6 which i am using now for 2 and half months. just from 1 week ago my iPhone 6 screen suddenly goes dim when I'm using it in strong sunny light. i always set my auto brightness on and when i use my phone in sunny light at roof first it gives clear and bright display then suddenly screen goes dim and when i try to maximise brightness level nothing happens it still remains dim and i notice my screen becomes very warm .. then i turn off my phone for few minutes and turn it on the screen brightness again works fine...and auto brightness also works normal..i have noticed this problem 2,3 times whenever i use it in sunny light at the roof..plz give me any suggestion....
iphone 6, 64 gb model iOS version 8.1.2

It's a google maps app setting. I agree, it is highly annoying and I have no idea why they put that setting into the app without the option to change it. I did a 600 mile trip with google maps and the auto screen dimming feature was awful.

  • How can I get rid of the dark area on top one third of my iphone screen which spoils my background image?

How can I get rid of the dark area on top one third of my iphone screen which spoils my background image?
It seems this problem is caused by the software to increase the readibility of upper letters (clock battery etc.) It be nice to leave us the control of choosing background letter color too if we are using brighter images or darker images.
I'm using iphone 4s and it appeared after I updated to new patch. 7.1.1.
    Thanks,

  • IPhone 5 brightness permanently reduced (Please help, voltage issue??)

    Hello,
I really need someone with high expertise to help me. Obviously i appreciate any help given but please dont say point less comment like reboot the phone or turn autobrightness off.
    Here is the issue:
I have had several iPhones, right from the first to the 5. Lucky me. But i have always had the same issue. The screen brightness is significantly lower than any other iPhone that I compare it to.
Now i have the iPhone 5, if i compare it to anyone elses the brighness is much lower. Autobrightness is off. When i first got the iPhone the brightness was like everyone elses.
i only use the official charger. I think there may be a problem with the voltage or the electricity in my home as all my iPhones have had this problem. Im not sure when the change happens but the something is damaging the backlight of my iPhones. No idea what.
Please can some one with the same issue or knowledge of physics please help me. I dont want to keep having this issue. I also have a Macbook pro and am fairly sure its happned with this also but have no means of comparison as I dont know any one else with one that comes to my apartment.
    Regards
    Fahad

  • Q10 screen brightness is very dim in dark environment

In a dark environment the screen dims so much that reading text on a white background is terrible.  Is there a going to be an update to stop the auto brightness feature?

You're not the only one. This is a severe issue that will hamper sales for sure. The BlackBerry Q10's maximum brightness is the DIMMEST out of every other phone on the market today.
IN FACT, the maximum brightness on the Q10 is 22% the maximum brightness of the iPhone 5 (in lumens): http://www.computerbase.de/artikel/handys/2013/blackberry-q10-im-test/3/
BlackBerry is already getting a ton of flak for this issue, as many, MANY users are furious. See this comparison with the Bold 9930: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-q10-f272/very-dull-screen-brightness-level-q10-808915/index5...
There is also a few news articles circulating: http://www.newstimeafrica.com/archives/31992
I will be returning my BlackBerry Q10 tomorrow to Verizon Wireless for a full refund. Back to the Bold 9930 until a PROFESSIONAL product is released. I don't even mind straying away from BlackBerry at this point. Not making brightness control available to the consumer is a violation of trust.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
Restart... Reset... Restore from Backup...  Restore as New...
If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...

  • Weird darkened spot on iPhone screen

Few days ago I've noticed a weird yellow/darkened spot on my iPhone screen on the right side, around the SIM card. I have no idea where it came from... I didn't hit it against anything or drop it. There are no signs of damage. When the phone is on you can notice the darkened yellow color on lighter backgrounds.
This weird spot on the screen it get brighter with more use. When the iPhone was cold it was not present.
So what are the chances of me getting this fixed under warranty or AppleCare?
TNX a lot for the good thoughts :-)

I would take it to Apple and see what they say.  Worst they can say is that it's not covered under warranty.  Personally, it sounds like a screen defect to me, but only Apple will know for sure.

  • IPhone 5 brightness adjustment

Since short, iPhone 5 does not allow to change the brightness, neither in general settings nor inside the app like e.g. iBOOKS (although AUTO brightness in settings disabled). Screen stays very bright and the battery is drained fast. Strange enough - if I open the KINDLE app, I can adjust the screen brightness to very dark. Recently changed battery. Currently on IOS 8.0.2., reading the community I was a bit afraid to update to 8.1.1. Tried restart, reset, back to the factory settings. Anyone has an idea about where the problem can be resp. how to solve it? Thanks, Ales

No current way to adjust the gain. I hope this will be added really soon since I am unable to use my new phone at work becuase people complain about the backgorund noise.

  • Is the iPhone screen contrast adjustable?

Is the iPhone screen contrast adjustable? I'm not talking about brightness. My screen shows shadowy horizontal (in portrait mode) stripes. I can still read the screen, but it is generally washed out, with the prominent stripes. Playing with the brightness doesn't help much.

I opted to send mine (well my wifes) in, in the past.
    Call 1-800-MY-IPHONE
    Tell them the problem.
They will ship you a box (prepaid to send back) with all the materials needed to ship back.
You will be told to take the SIM card out (they will even send paperclip to help). Then pack up (they even send tape) and send back.
You can put your SIM into any other phone that uses SIM cards and use it while yours is getting fixed/replaced.
Once they get it, it is like a 1 day turn around. Ship, repair/replace, ship back took me just 3 days. Your experience may vary.
Be sure to really explain the issue. I would even include a note in the box back explaining it in case the service notes the tech writes are not clear enough.

  • HELP! My iphone screen is faded

Today my iphone screen looks cloudy and all the colour is faded. Ive tried resetting the phone and adjusting the brightness, with no results. It is so faded it is hard to see everything.
Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Did you try to restore "as new phone" ? Do not use your backup, it might contain files causing this problem. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If still no luck, contact Apple or see your next Apple Store to get it serviced.

  • IPhone Screen gone dark

    Hi there
I'm a little confused. My iphone screen has gone all dark. I can still see the icons if I try really hard, but it's a struggle.
I've re-set the phone, to no avail, and have also played around with the Brightness settings, which have not affected anything.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • My Iphone screen is dark

Ok, so i was laying on my couch which sits low on the ground. I have a Iphone 3. No warranty because my son won it at his graduation. I dropped it on the floor and it has a thick protective cover on it. And when i picked it up its very dark I can see my apps and stuff. but its like 80% dark. I restarted it a couple of times. is there a way i can fix it without a full restore? thank you

    Hello there, brittyscifi.
The following Knowledge Base article provides some great steps for troubleshooting your issue:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
    Display doesn't adjust brightness automatically
The ambient light sensor brightens the display when using the iPhone in brightly lit environments, and dims the display in low light. To test this sensor, do the following:
If the iPhone is in a protective case, remove it from the case. If there is a protective film on the display, remove the film.
Verify that the Auto-Brightness setting (Settings > Brightness and Wallpaper) is set to ON, and that the Brightness level is set near the middle of the slider.
Press the Home button to return to the Home screen and then press the Sleep/Wake button to lock the iPhone.
In a bright environment, cover the top third of the iPhone to block the light, then press the Sleep/Wake button or the Home button to wake the phone. Slide the slider to unlock the phone.
Notice the brightness of the screen and application icons; they should be somewhat dimmed.
Remove the cover from the top of the display and in a few moments the display should get brighter.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • My iPhone screen is exceptionally dim, help?

So I woke up this morning, and my iPhone screen has gona really dim. I can see the screen and everything works fine, but I have to look really hard and cover the screen with my hand to see what is going on. I've done the obvious by turning the screen brightness up and that didn't work at all. I've restored my phone but that didn't do anything either.
The screen is dimmer than when it's on the lowest brightness setting.
What can I do so I can see it more easily?
    Many thanks.

i can hear you but no appearance of anything on the screen
