has anyone had a problem, once they have downloaded the new iOS 6.1.3, with their screen fading black randomly as if rebooting and apple symbol appears?

While a reset is a good troubleshooting step, sometinmes there are easier and safer steps to take prior to a rest. Powering off/on the phone should the first step: hold the sleep/wake button until you see "slide to power off", and slide to power off. Then power on the phone. If this iPhone has had the screen replaced previously, possibly LCD Display connector has simply come loose from the Logic Board. Possibly the LCD Display is faulty and the front screen assembly needs to be replaced. If you have Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple. This is handled by Apple with Replacement iPhone 4S.

If your screen is black but the phone appears to still be responding, you may have inadvertently activated a feature known as Screen Curtains (part of the Accessibility functions). You may find the following information from the iOS manual helpful (pg 126):
Turn the screen curtain on or off. Triple-tap with three fingers. When the screen curtain is on, the screen contents are active even though the display is turned off.

IPhone screen flashing white/black/blue

I have a 64GB iPhone 6 Plus, the phone is running the most recent version of iOS 8.
I didn't drop the phone, get it wet or anything. All of sudden the screen started flashing black and white, and blue. I can still send receive texts, calls etc, sound is working fine. I just can't interact with the screen because it's flashing colors. It is very similar to the problem experienced by the user in this thread: iphone 6 plus screen flashing white and black
I've already rebooted the device and tried plugging it into a computer (it wont recognize the phone because I've never plugged it into the computer before).
I'm on vacation, at a wedding and I don't have access to an Apple Store. Is there ANYTHING I can do to get my phone to working order?

Thanks for that info. I restore the phone without any data In the end (as a new device). In order to make the problem go away I had to:
1. enter DFU
2. Update device
3. Restore device
4. Setup as a new device
It didn't work without completing all 4 of the steps. after setting it up as a new device it still flickered a bunch and the color were funny. Especially when looking at high definition photos. It was like it was threatening to start flashing black and white again. I turned the phone off for a while and then when I turned it back on it was fine. It's been fine since then. well see what hapPens.

The Ambient Light Sensor may be malfunctioning. Unfortunately there is not much you can do without tampering with the phone internally and voiding the warranty. Your best bet is to bring the phone to a local Apple Store and have them inspect it.

IPhone 4's screen is turning black randomly

I'm getting a black screen randomly in my iPhone 4. After I put the phone on sleep, when I click the switch button to wake the phone, it'll just light with a black screen. I need to click the switch button many times on and off to get the display working on the screen.
It also use to happen when the phone on sleep and receive call, the phone will ring but I can't see anything on the screen even though I can still answer the call by sliding where I suppose to slide usually, which means the screen is working and all the buttons are active but they're not displaying.
I confirmed this as a hardware problem because this problem started with me since I was on 4.2.1 and I restored the phone through 4.3 and 4.3.1 and the problem still exist. Moreover, the problem also appears when the phone was out of buttery and off, where you switch on the phone and it shows you that empty buttery with a lightning. Based on that I believe it's a hardware problem.
But I don't know what are the causes and what is the solution if there's any?!

How do I make iPhone screen go to black?

I jog at night and use my iPhone as an mp3 player. Every time I change song lists or touch the screen, the display stays on for a long time before going black. I would like an icon on the homepage of my iPhone that will darken the screen upon touching it after choosing a playlist, audiobook or podcast, yet allows instant touch re-activation and constant mp3 use. Sort of like turning off the computer monitor rather than the entire computer. Is there anything like this for the iPhone?

Why don't you press the sleep button? The music will keep on playing, if you want to choose another playlist, just hit the sleep button and you're back to the ipod.

Hi. I have an iphone 4s and the screen is barely readable. it is nearly completely black. The light beside the camera seems to come on every time that I turn on the phone but yet the screen doesn't seem to come on. i have restored the iphone and done everything it says in other forums but yet nothing is working. it is on the set up screen ready to set up as a new iphone but it is so hard to see everything that i cannot set it up. im planning on bringing it back to vodafone tomorrow to see if they can do anything. Any suggestions on what to do?

Sounds like it may be a hardware issue.

I just spoke to App Care. They are very aware and aggresively escalating this according to both product specialists I spoke to. The fix right now is to backup, factory restore, and restore your backup to your iphone. I am not going to be able to this due to travel for a couple months, and was asked very nicely to basically "deal" with the problem and perform a hard reset everytime the backlight timeout coma occurs until an official fix is announced, or I can restore at home which is 3000 miles away. Mine mostly seems to happen after a phone call, so I am looking for any patterns that cause it.

I had a couple days of no lock outs, then today its been very bad. I have had to hard reset 5-6 time, once during an actual call the phone screen locked up on black. I knew this because a text came in during the call, and when I looked at the screen it was blank. From this point forward the call quality was very poor and after the other line hung up, I had to hard reset to get back to normal. Starting to make me feel like this is a hardware failure, that unfortunately is occuring to most users who have older 3G phones. Makybe the accelerometer is dying, I don't know.
I am certain that my battery life has severly decreased in the past month, I think in conjunction with the 3.1 update.
I will be surprised at this point if Apple announces anything major in the way of a fix. Most out of warranty iphone users will just get new iphones.
