Iphone 5 Shared plan

Hi I just pre ordered the Iphone 5 and i am coming into verizon under my fathers Shared plan. So i followed the steps to add a new line, but at the end it gave me a total monthly charge of $150. I thought adding a line to a shared plan will only cost $40 for a smartphone per month. I didn't even really see the option or breakdown for this option. Can i go and fix my plan once i get my phone next friday?

I have the same issue as lvargas2002. When you try to add a line to your shared plan, using the pre-order system, it does not just charge you the $40 fee to add a smartphone to your shared plan. It orders you up a completely new shared plan and charges you for it. This despite calling up my exisitng lines and checking upgrade availability. I called customer service and they are clueless on how to do this -- and are sending me to the phone lines to make the calls. You really need to get the proper ordering procedure in place -- I am sure this is costing revenue and sales --big time....

You can create another apple Id for a seperate device.  My wife and I both have I phones and we share the same apple ID for purchases.  We however each have our own apple ID for icloud or gamecenter as it were.  That way you can share all your apps, music, movies and books but have your own ID for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and so on.  To make it extra clear I have two apple IDs on my iPhone.  One for purchasing and one for icloud or gamecenter.

    Hey sameyrs2,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like you are getting a message when trying to backup to iCloud. I would recommend that you read these articles, they may be helpful in troubleshooting your issue.

  • Differences in Billing on lines on a shared plan

So I have a quick question.  It may seem small as it is only a couple of pennies to me (I guess with 100+ million subscribers, it could be significant for Verizon)  but why do I have two lines, both on iPhones, on a shared plan, yet find that for one of them, the "Taxes, Governmental, Surcharges, and Fees" line item in billing will be exactly the same in some months and then either $.01 or $.02 higher on one line versus the other in subsequent months.  Just curious.  Would have sent this via email but cant find an email address anymore for these types of questions.

That's a great question lwinning9! If all the charges are the same, but the taxes are different, it's possible that the Primary Place of Use address on each number is different. Cell phones are taxed based on where they are being used, not where the bill goes.
This means we have a billing address on your account, but each line should have an address listed as the main place it will be used. This is the address that generates the tax rate.
You can check your PPU addresses on My Verizon. http://bit.ly/xB4iTc

  • IPhone 5 plan options?

Hi, so currently my family have the family shared plan, 700 minutes unlimited texting for 5 people, total comes out to about $150 a month. But now 3 of us are looking to upgrade to the iPhone 5. Is my only choice to upgrade to the Shared everything plan or can I still get the $30 2gb a month for the three people who want smartphones? Also if the other two people decide they want smart phones can change to a Shared everything plan at anytime if I go with the $30 2 gb? Thanks in advance!

    FaceTime calling?
I'm also reading in other posts that people are blowing through 1GB and 2GB limits in days when they didn't do that in a month with 3G.  Some of it sounds like an accounting issue that needs to get fixed, but I think that I would be mistaken to assume that people won't find more ways to use data with the new speeds.

  • Two iPhone Family plan?

As an "early adaptor", I've had a new iPhone each year from day one and I plan to order the #4 next week. However, this time I'll be giving my wife my 3GS and bringing her over from Verizon, putting the 2 iPhones on a family plan. I've been to AT&T's website to learn how they work the Family Plan but as one would expect there is much fluff and little substantial information.
If you have experience with a 2 iPhone Family plan with AT&T could you let me know how they "share" minutes, text messaging and data? Any tricks or traps in getting the best deal?
    Thanks, denny

OK, so the minutes are shared, the data plans are separate (we could each use the lowest $15 one) and texting could be separate or shared. That is about what I had thought.
One last question just occurred to me: Since I'm eligible for the discounted iPhone 4, I'll get the lower cost. If I were to get my wife an iPhone 4 also, could she also get the lower price - all assuming a new 2 year contract of course. I'll give AT&T a call next week to learn for certain as they should have the newest information by then, but I was curious if anyone knew.
    Thanks, denny

  • Create two different iCloud accounts with 2 iPhones (family plan)?

How do I create two different iCloud accounts with 2 iPhones (family plan). Both phones are registered under my name, and when my wife set up her phone with iOS 5, it will only let her log in using my account. I thought it used your iTunes account info, is this not the case?  I really want her to have her own seperate account on her phone.
    --Brian

I resolved it by using our seperate apple ID's. Since we already had our own itunes accounts I canceled iCloud on her phone that was using my account and logged in with hers.  I did read somewhere where you can have multiple iCloud accounts under the same user ID but I'm not sure how that works because that is exactly how ours were set up initially and all the suddon all of her contacts and calendar items were on my phone and iPad and vica-versa . It was a pain to remove them one at a time after I broke the accoutns apart.  I know that doesn;t really answer your question, but that was my workaround. Of course that also mean no app sharing.

This is happening to me also but only with certain apps. The message I get with the apps that won't update is "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID. This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled".

  • Family Sharing plan will not allow purchase by iTunes gift card.

We are on the Family Sharing plan.  All family members have iTunes gift card balances on their accounts.  iTunes store is only allowing purchases by credit card.  According to all FAQ's on Apple site, it should access gift card first.  How do we fix this?

    Doerr6,
You are correct about how it is supposed to work.
However, many people are reporting the same problem that you are seeing.  The only way to get it resolved is to contact iTunes Customer Service.

  • Switched to shared plan-bill on old account sent to collection agency without notice!

On 9/16/12, my husband and I visited a Verizon store to upgrade our phones and enroll in a 2-year renewal contract, as we have done for years.  While speaking with an in-store representative, we were encouraged to combine our plans into a family shared plan. We took the necessary steps to do this and my husband moved his account to combine with mine.  From this point onward, we paid one bill together. We assumed my husband’s account was correctly closed and never heard anything else about it from Verizon.   We were therefore unpleasantly surprised to receive a letter from a collection company demanding that he pay a $135.63 charge from his old account that we previously knew nothing about.
I have been a loyal customer since 2003 and have never missed or even been late on a payment throughout this time.  To find out that there is a delinquent account sent to a collection agency which will affect my family’s credit is very disconcerting.  Further, to read stories from former Verizon customers saying that they too had received letters from collection agencies regarding unpaid bills that Verizon never alerted them about leaves me wondering whether the procedures for closing an account are being properly conducted.   In our case, the situation is even more frustrating since we are not former customers that Verizon had trouble contacting regarding outstanding charges.  We are current customers who would have been happy to make a payment had we been aware of it in writing.  A simple search would have shown that my husband’s phone number is still valid and is now part of my account in our shared plan.  We would have expected to have either received a bill addressed to him regarding a final bill that was owed on his old account (he used auto-pay while that account was active) or to have had the final charge moved to my current account, since I am now the primary account holder with both of our phone numbers under one plan.  It would seem surprising to send a bill to a collection agency when dealing with someone who is a current customer.
There is no issue with making a payment directly to Verizon as long as our credit is not affected.  We have written a letter to Verizon but have not received any response from them in a month and a half. Has anyone else successfully dealt with a similar issue?
    Thank you.

He didn't receive a hard copy because he had paperless billing set up (as well as auto pay).  We checked his email for any billing statements sent and there were none after the account was closed.  As SydneyK mentioned, since he only had paperless billing, after the account was closed there was no way to access it online and see that there was an outstanding balance.  In fact, the Verizon representative stated that his account would be "moved over" to mine, which to me implied that everything, including a balance, would be "moved" to the shared plan. We finally figured out what the outstanding balance was for - for the new phone he upgraded to when we went to the store to upgrade our phones and switch to the family plan.  They had charged his account for the phone, rather than my account/the shared account. Ugh.

  • Can I use my IMac OS 10.4 (old) to set up a wifi router, such as Airport Base, so I can have a wifi connection for the iPhone I plan to buy?  My IMac is not wifi capable.

Can I use my several-years-old IMac OS 10.4 to set up a wireless router, such as Aiport Base, so I can have wifi for the iPhone I plan to buy.  My IMac is not wife capable.

Yes, Airport Express Base Station connected to your Mac by ethernet will work as a bridge. Or you can connect the AE directly to your router/modem by ethernet if it's a non-wi-fi router and it will act as a relay for that.

Once iPhone - phone plan is terminated, can I use this device as a iTouch?

Yes.  Look at the right panel under "More like this" and follow the links. At least one of them has a link to an Apple document that describes how to do it.
