Iphone 5 shuting down with a gray screen

I been using my iphone 5 for 7 month and it is start to shut down after a gray screen was shown

Hello CjohnsonC,
It sounds like your phone will flash a grey screen and then shutting down. I recommend these troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
If the iPhone will not turn off, try to reset it.
If that doesn't work, try restoring the device.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
All the very best,

The startup disk may need repairing ...
Startup your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys.
From there you should be able to access the built in utilities to repair the disk and restore OS X using OS X Recovery

  • IPhone 4 32GB with yellow tinted screen

    hello,
I have iPhone 4 32GB with yellow tinted screen. The provider STC in Saudi Arabia refuse to change it.. I've tried to complain them to apple but Icouldn't. So What should I do?

I am occasionally having the same issue.  Saw another post that suggested it might be caused by mail notifications.  This is unconfirmed.

  • My laptop keeps shuting off with a blue screen

my laptop keeps shutting down with a blue screen.

    Hi rthomas63,
I saw your post about the blue screen of death (BSOD) that you are getting. I will be happy to assist but I will need more information then what you provided. What operating system are you running? What is your product number? What is the error that you are getting with the blue screen? When are you getting the error message? Do you get it at start up or when you are using a certain program. The more information you can post about the error message that better.
Find your product number on a notebook:

    Hey 11doski,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the display has a dark screen. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Display has no backlight or dark screen
Toggle the ringer switch to see if the unit vibrates. If it does, it could be that iPhone is getting power, but is not displaying any image.
Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
While connected to the iPhone charger, try to reset the iPhone.
If the low-battery screen appears, charge the iPhone.

  • My computer turns on but its remains with a gray screen that has the apple icon

My daughter was using our computer to download some music from Itunes onto her psp. She said the computer froze and she forced it to restart. The computer turns on the apple icon shows up and a load bar under that shows up then dissapears and it remains with a gray screen. I have tried several times time to restart it and it does the same thing. Can anyone help?

Have you had the chance to look over and begin using the Gray screen appears during startup or the Gray progress bar appears under Apple logo during startup articles?

  • Trouble With a Gray Screen

Today I ran into a bit of a problem that soon eliminated almost all troubleshooting possibilities. This morning I was playing on World of Warcraft when the computer pinged me to plug in the power. I did so, and the light turned on indicating that it was charging. But ten minutes later the computer froze and repeated some sounds until I shut down the laptop. I then restarted the laptop and it gave me a blank gray screen. I have tried almost everything in order to try and get a hold of the hard drive. I've tried resetting the RAM with command-option-P-R while starting up. I've tried holding down the option key while starting up to get to the volume select screen. I've tried holding shift while starting up for a soft restart. I've tried running the computer on the install disk and holding down C, and THAT didn't work either. And I can't even have my target volume (through a fire wire) show up on another mac to see if I can move my data in case of having my hard drive replaced. I do have a warranty that will still work for at most 2 more weeks. I want to know if anyone has any suggestions or ideas on how I can solve this problem before resolving to the physical repairs. Thank you.
Model is MacBook Intel Core Duo 10.5.7.

Could be any number of things, but if the computer still boots even to the gray screen, then most likely it isn't the computer itself. The hard drive may have failed or system files are corrupted preventing normal startup. Try the following:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If the drive is OK but you still cannot startup then it may be file corruption that requires you to reinstall OS X as follows:
How to Perform an Archive and Install
An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

  • What do I do with a gray screen?

I have a gray screen on my ipod nano and i can see the faintest of outlines of the icons. Is there a fix?

I saw this on another post:
"I had the same problem so I called apple,
You need to press ctrl alt shift and the on/off button for 1 second and after that turn it on again, and make sure there is nothing plugged into your mac exept the power cord."
After pressing ctrl, alt, shift, and power, it shut down, and at least I was able to restart it.

  • I tried to upate the softwear but now when i go to turn it on it comes with with the gray screen and apple logo but with a bunch of letters and numbers at the top of the screen not letting me log on

  • Lenovo Ideapad U410 scrolling down with a grey screen

    HI,
I just recently purchased the Lenovo Ideapad U410 and sometimes when I try to scroll down with both fingers, a grey line and background bar starts to come down and encompass the whole screen, rendering the screen and all my apps useless. And then on the right side, it shows the time and date squished togetherand I can't seem to get out of it unless I go back to the start and then open the desktop again.
Why is it doing this and is there a way to stop it because when it scrolls all the way down, the laptop won't work and if I don't touch the touchpad, bubbles start forming forming as if it's a screen saver.
    Thanks

It sounds like your hard drive is failing or has failed. It cannot repair the disk and is suggesting you back up and format the drive. Do you already have a backup?
A couple of things to try first:
    NVRAM reset: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

  • Bought a used imac 21.5 I5, and the owner cleaned his stuff off the HD, when i turned it on, it comes up with a gray screen, and, no way to get on the internet, to download OS X

used imac starts up with a gray screen

You will need to purchase a retail OS X install disc.
You can Purchase OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard here.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard.
While you are ordering this, call Apple at 1-800-MYAPPLE and ask for retail software sales and tell them you need a set of original OS system discs for your iMac.
You'll need to give them your iMac's serial number to obtain these. There will be a small, but minimum charge for obtaining and shipping of these discs.
    Good Luck!

  • My iPhone shuts down with certain apps and says dead Batt. with plenty left. Now it wont turn on after starting up and turning off many times

I got my Dads old iPhone 3GS for Christmas and reset it to its factory settings. It had this problem with my Dad to, thats why he got a new phone. It was claiming that the battery was dead when I opened certain apps eventhough it had plenty of battery, It made me charge it and then said it was plenty charged. Why? That happened multiple times. That's what happened to my Dad as well. This however, is me only. O.K. so, the other day, it did it's battery dead shutdown thing, so I plugged it in, but it kept starting up, then shutting down again, starting up, and shutting down again. Now I've left it on the charger for about a days, it's not on the charger now, and it won't turn on. Help!!!!!!

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

  • Connect iPhone to iTunes with broken display screen

My iPhone has a broken display screen and I can't connect with my iTunes because it says I have to log into my phone.  I can't log into my phone because it is not working.  I tried pressing the home button and then acting out the motions of entering my password, but nothing is happening.  I have my replacement phone and I'm trying to reset my broken phone, but I can''t do that until I log into iTunes.  If someone can advise me on what to do, it will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.  By the way, I am doing this on a PC computer.

Try putting the phone in DFU mode and then doing the restore. This article should help.
