IPhone 5 silent calls

I received my iPhone5 few days ago on the 20th and have few issues that concern me.
I previously used iPhone 4s, which I still have and both handsets appear to display similar number of bars for coverage strength...
My iPhone 5 does the following:
- when I call someone frequently I can't hear anything - I can't hear dialing tone and once connected equally I can't hear them. When I redial usually from the first time call is placed as normal and I have had no dropped calls mid call.
- when I tether I get a very slow speed with my new iphone5 - this is roughly 4 times slower than my 4s. iPhone 5 should support DC-HSDPA and in the same room/network I should in theory be getting at least the same speeds as my iPhone 4s.
- I also travel through the hatfield tunnel every day and my iPhone5 is switching to no service - in contrast when using my 4s I can be on a phone calls for the full length of the tunnel without the call ever dropping.
So overall my iPhone5 seems like a step back, a frustrating one at that...
Is this normal for the iPhone5?
Should I be looking to have it replaced or simply send it back and demand a refund?

This is the error message I receive when I try to add my phone to my Mac for proximity / FaceTime audio calling. This feature worked until I changed my Apple ID. I have updated my Apple ID everywhere I can think of updating it. I've signed out of Apple ID on my Mac, deleted EVERYTHING (calendars, contacts, etc.), signed back in, etc. I've done the same with my phone, and even done a power-down / reboot and nada. I keep getting this message from the Mac.
I can't figure out where else I should look for my old Apple ID to be logged into anything or creating problems. I've gone over my iPhone and Mac and I'm at a loss. As an aside (and yes, wrong forum), have lost the ability to do SMS forwarding since the Mac no longer receives the code from my iPhone to allow this feature to work. This was lost after signing out of the Apple ID on my Mac this afternoon.
Bluetooth is turned on for both devices. Both devices are on the same WiFi network. Both devices otherwise appear to be working correctly with the exception of the problems I'm having with FaceTime and iCloud being signed into the same Apple ID (which they are).

(By the way, I should have pointed out in my earlier posting that I'm running OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 on my Mac). I Just installed latest Yosemite update while my iPhone was switched off, and when my Mac restarted, the 'iPhone Cellular Calls' checkbox in the FaceTime preferences was checked and the problem was therefore solved. Switched on my iPhone, still fine. Relief.

There are two places where vibrations can be set.
One is the Settings > Sounds
The other area is Settings > Notifications
If you have an app set to Alert, it may have a vibration set for it.

How do I set a different caller ID for the iPhone Cellular Calls from my Mac?

This will get lengthy so bare with me. My wife and I both have an iPhone and we use the same iCloud account. I wanted to set up my Mac to handle my phone calls with the new feature on Yosemite so I went into Preferences on the FaceTime app on my Mac to turn on iPhone Cellular Calls. When I do so, it tells me that the calls will be made using my wifes caller ID and not mine. I know that I can click my phone number above that in the "You can be reached for FaceTime at:" section and it will give me the choice of using my phone number but I only want use my email for FaceTime on my Mac and when only my email is checked for where to be reached at, it doesn't give me an option of what phone number I want the Caller ID to be. If anyone understands that, please help me change the default Caller ID to my own and not my wife's!! Thanks!

When trying to activate iPhone Cellular Calls, I get the error "cannot turn on iphone cellular calls error, FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone cellular calls" I am signed onto the same accounts in both places and cannot figure out what is wrong. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you

If you're trying to make calls from a mac, then you should make sure to enable FaceTime calls from your AppleID (email address) on both the mac and the iPhone. Don't uncheck your phone number, either. FaceTIme should be enabled on both devices with both your phone number and your AppleID.
For some reason, this is what had to be done for me to be able to make phone calls from my mac without receiving this message on my iPhone. I know it isn't ideal because we shouldn't have to enable FaceTime calls via AppleID, especially if we won't be using it with our AppleID, but this is what worked for me. Once you enable FaceTime calling from your AppleID on both the iPhone and your mac (while also keeping the calling enabled via your phone number), then try to turn on iPhone cellular calling on your iPhone. It should work, and then you can try to make a cellular call on your mac.
Some people may think that this isn't a fix because they might think I am talking about FaceTime audio calls. But I'm not. Try this and report back if you can.

I *AM* signed into Facetime and iCloud using the same Apple ID. Why am I receiving this error all of a sudden? I make calls using my Mac and need this feature. I have tried disabling and re-enabling both over a dozen times. TRUST ME, it is NOT user error -- it is Apple releasing features before they are fully ready error!

I'm pretty sure we can clarify whether or not we are on a Public Beta or not, despite NDA........

Apple isnt here. this is a user based forum for technical questions. The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

Ipad shows all regular Iphone inbound calls as Facetime. I only want true FT calls to appear. I switch audio/video and it still happens. How can I set the Ipad to only register true facetime calls rather than all inbound regular calls? thanks

Turn off iPhone cellular calls
To turn off iPhone cellular calls on your iPad or iPod touch, go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls.
On your Mac, open the FaceTime app and go to FaceTime > Preferences. Click Settings and deselect the iPhone Cellular Calls option.

I have upgraded to OSX Yosemite and iPhone to iOS 8.1. Before upgrading to iOS 8.1 the option of checking iPhone cellular calls in both mac and iPhone FaceTime was coming, but now that option itself isn't available. What is the solution and possible region?

Regular silent calls from BT (!!) on a TPS registe...

008007312687 is ringing me several times a day and is silent/clicks and breaks call when answered.
Search on internet shows this to be coming from BT Broadband Sales. I am registered with the TPS.
How do I put a stop to these calls ??
I have already previously spoken to BT Broadband (who were calling from another number regularly after installing an FTTC box nearby) and got them to stop calling after they kept ringing and offering a faster connection than my 50Mbit Virgin cable - yeah right, I'm sure they can do that - in their dreams....

This is not a TPS issue, it is a SILENT CALLS issue.
Failure to register with the TPS, or exemption under the terms of the regulations covering it, CANNOT BE TAKEN AS A WILLINGNESS TO RECEIVE SILENT CALLS.
There are no circumstances under which it is acceptable to ever hang up in silence once someone has answered a call.
For a company with the history and reputation of BT to fail to respect this basic rule of conduct when using the telephone is a disgrace.
Because companies who provide answering services (e.g. BT answer 1571) fail to provide a clearly detectable signal when this facility is engaged, it is not possible to automatically determine when an answering service has picked up a call, with a sufficient degree of confidence to warrant use of "Answering Machine Detection" equipment.
These Silent Calls are most likely caused by improper use of such equipment. The fact that Ofcom foolishly encourages its use does not provide a justification for BT to taking advantage of this failure in regulation to knowingly cause nuisance to its customers.

Cannot activate iPhone Celluar calls

Hello. Today I tried to activate iPhone celluar calls on my late 2013 macbook pro using OS X 10.10.3 yosemite public beta and I keep getting this weird error. My iPhone and mac are logged in to the same iCloud account, same FaceTime account and still this happens on my mac. On the other hand my iPhone doesn't have any problems with activating it. It is just my mac. I also did reboot / sign out -> sign in but still didn't work. If anyone knows a fix please help me. Thank you.

Hi, it's maybe happening the same here!
I have an iphone 3gs. Since I did the upgrade to ios5, when I receive an sms with the notification of a missed call I am no longer able to see if it's coming from a number of my contact list, because in the sms the message correspondence for that contact underlines now the number PLUS the first 2 cifres of the date! So the number results always being 2 numbers longer and it's impossible get to the original.
That's really a major problem for me, as I'm no longer able to know who has called me, if someone I know (and who) or if a new number.
I add a capture to explain it better (I have banned a couple of cifres for privacy reasons).
Anyone solved the problem or can help please?
