IPhone 5 skipping over every music track

As of this morning, when I tried to play some music on my phone before work, my iPhone 5 began skipping music tracks one by one until it gets to the last two tracks. It displays the art and title for a split second, then skips to the next song. Only the last two tracks in my "purchased" playlist will play now without skipping forward.
Anyone have a fix that doesn't require a restore?

(shameless bump to try and get some feedback)

  • IPod skips over purchased music

I have a weird problem with my iPod, and I was hoping someone here could help me with it.
Every couple of weeks, my iPod goes through this weird stage. It will not play any of the songs I purchased from iTunes. I can click on them normally, but then it just skips over all of them instead of playing even one second. It plays all the songs from CDs and songs I had on my computer before just fine, but NONE of the songs I've purchased from iTunes.
Another weird part is that whenever I hook the iPod up to the computer, the problem goes away. But this doesn't help much, because I'm going to be away from my computer for most of the summer, and I would like a working iPod. Most of my files are from iTunes, too.
I know this is a really weird problem...I couldn't find anything on the apple FAQ, etc, so I'm sure it's not common. If anyone could help me with it, though, I would reallllllly appreciate it. Can anyone tell me why it does this, or (most importantly!!!!!!!) how to prevent it?

  • Mini skips over purchased music...

When I select a song, whether it's in a playlist or library, it skips over the song. It seems to do this only with purchased music. What do I do?

I have tried everything...and my mini still won't play purchased music after 2-3 days.
I have tried to restore to factory settings. I have tried to restore in disc mode. I have de-authorized, and re-authorized itunes. I have rebuilt the itunes library. Nothing seems to work. I'm no ipod specialist, but I think there has to be a software problem that's causing this, not the ipod itself.
I have called tech support and spoken with them, and explained what I am experiencing and what all I have tried and their answer is that I have tried everything and that I should take it to a store and have them run a diagnosis on the unit. I did just that, the guys at the store erased the unit and reinstalled the software. I took it home synched it to my itunes and still 3 days later nothing...
I am guessing that apple cruises through these boards...I would like to challenge them to offer an explaination/solution to this problem. I know that I am not the only one experiencing this. I'm completely frustrated and trying to keep my cool here but I am really loosing patient with this product. So here is my plea...HELP!

  • How do you skip over an unburnable track-

I am in the process of burning CD's into my iTunes. Every now and then, I get a dirty/damaged song on a CD that causes my CD drive to get hung up and will not allow the rest of the CD to get burned.
My question is how do I quit burning burning the damaged song and move onto the next track. As of right now, I am resorting to ejecting the CD, reloading it, and unselecting the damaged track which is a real pain.
    Any suggestions?

  • Why do the songs on my phone keep skipping over each other?

I haven't been able to sync my itunes since to my iphone 4 since I've updated to ios7 two weeks ago. Only one song will play, and it was purchased on the itunes store, but the other songs are from CDs that I've transfered onto my itunes. Anyways, when i try to play the music on my phone it just skips over every song. It also has a red square and circle around the square. Someone please help!

I'm not completely sure what iTunes Match is.
Then you are probably not using it, since it is a paid service. iTunes Match will let you store your music in the cloud and will download it from the cloud to your devices. Since it downloads songs from the store rather than upload your song to the cloud, if the song is available from the store, sometimes the downloaded song may have a different cover. That is why was asking about iTunes Match.
If your songs transferred incompletely by syncing with USB, I'd connect the iPhone again to iTunes and restore it to factory settings,  see this support article:   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
    Then sync again.

  • Music track details listed in non-Latin characters (might be Kanji)

I copied over 44 music tracks which were all ripped at the same time from a CD; numbers 10 to 44 are fine; numbers 1 to 9 are not listed correctly in the Touchpad music player, it looks to me like the details have been tranlated to Kanji font. They are fine in Windows Media Player; the filenames are fine so I presume there is something wrong with the tags, but I can't see what is different about those nine tracks. I've made a copy of them removing properties and personal information and I can then use those versions in a playlist. I have had a similar problem with other tracks, but never before with so many from the same source. Any idea's what I need to do to fix this please?

    hi Ley!
Fraid still getting getting any playback BUT I can also play my itunes music through QT7 but not Windows Media Player which I thought I would be able to as all mt itunes music files now have the Windows Media logo!
goodness gracious ... StarDeb may be fascinated to see
    b that.
I can't recall seeing that being reported before.
okay, let's try switching your file type associations back. here's a screenshot of what my itunes associated music files look like:

(protected AAC have a different extension.)
and here are my file type associations in my "tools > folder options"

can you change your file type associations so that those files are opening with itunes again? if so, will they
    b play
    properly in itunes?

  • IPod skipping over cd imported songs?

First real problem I have had with my iPod video since buying it in December. After I hooked it up to my work computer's iTunes(I normally use my home computer), iTunes(on work computer) indicated that it would only playback the songs I had purchased on iTunes. Now when I listen to my iPod, it skips over every song I imported from CD, and only plays until it reaches something I bought from iTunes. I have looked for settings to change, but I have found none. Does anyone possibly have any suggestions? Thanks!

    That's really wierd.
First off, right click on a song you imported, and Get Info. Paste all the info here.

  • Music track skipping and playing silence on iPhone

Some music tracks play sections of silence, others are skipping randomly like a scratched record. This happens when playing on the built-in speakers or on headphones. Tracks affected can be either CD imports or iTunes purchases.
I have the latest iTunes update, I have iOS4, I have re-synched, restored the phone multiple times, checked my hard drive... What can be the cause of this? I am prepared to do whatever it takes to solve the problem but I have run out of ideas. The Genii Apple Store have no idea what's causing it.
iPhone is proving not to be viable as a music player. I now have to carry my old iPod in addition to my iPhone if I want music.
    anyone? please ??

MP3 is a lossy compression - the more you do it the more your music tracks will degrade. Re-encoding the songs which have already been encoded will gradually reduce the quality (much the same as photocopying a photocopy). If you really need to re-encode something it's best to take it from the source, i.e. rip from CD again.
Obviously this would be a bit time consuming for all your tracks, but I think if you really had to do this with your entire music collection every time iTunes is upgraded there must be something seriously wrong with iTunes.
If you have track problems there's probably something in your computer software which is conflicting with the processes going on in iTunes. In my case it appears to be my antivirus. Do a bit of detective work and try switching a few things off to narrow it down, but you shouldn't have to go through a laborious process of re-encoding which will eventually degrade the quality of your music.

Not sure if this will help but a reset is the first thing to try. To reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • 11.1.3 (8) iTunes fails to transfer newest music tracks to iPhone 4

For the past few days, I noticed that my version of iTunes 11.1.3 (8) fails to transfer my newest music tracks, which I imported into my MacBook's Itunes in the past week, to my 2011 iPhone 4.
Both my MacBook's and iPhone's software appear to be up to date; I tried to restart, sync and re-sync with playlist boxes I unticked and ticked again, my most recent tracks appear in grey in the 'in this iPhone' music directory when I connect my iPhone to my MacBook,
but each time I try to find these tracks in my iPhone's iTunes library, none of them appears!
I finally disabled my iPhone's 'sync over with wifi' box, hoping it would really transfer the tracks immediately during the sync process but it simply doesn't make any difference.
Therefore I don't know what to do next...

You can access the apps by clicking the iPad thingy on top right of the screen (when the iPad is connected) and then select Apps and scroll down to file sharing apps...
    Or....
    As I said....
    EXACT SAME WAY AS BEFORE

  • Apple TV remote skips music tracks when navigating menu

I've just set up my Apple TV and paired it to my Macbook through home-sharing. However, when I'm navigating the main menu (using the Apple TV remote), it will pause/skip/go back on the music tracks that are playing, as well as moving between menu items. Is there any way to keep the same track playing without skipping it every time you click the remote?
I have set up the remote app on my phone which doesnt seem to suffer the same issue but I'd like to use the tv remote if possible.
    Thanks

Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy. Click Advanced in the lower right. Click "Disable remote control infrared receiver."

  • Music skips to the next track in the middle of a song.

I just bought an 80gb ipod classic... seems that some of my music tends to skip to the next track without any warning. I thought it was a problem with the ipod so I returned it and got another one and it happens the same way.
Is this a syncing issue. I have updated all my software, run cache cleaners - even restored my ipod and nothing seems to help. Does anyone else have this issue?
Will converting my whole MP3 collection to AAC help this? Also would you recommend doing that?
    Thanks.

I have an 8 gb ipod nano that does the same thing. The songs that have this problem skip at the same point in the song every time they play...it's pretty consistent. And it only happens when playing directly from the ipod (not from the computer). It also seems like this problem is affecting entire albums or particular artists in some cases. I've tried comparing the summaries, but healthy songs have the same attributes as the problem ones. In many cases I no longer have the original CD to be able to re-rip the songs.
    Any suggestions?

  • I have copied over my music file to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit Preferences has the right location

I have copied over my music files to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit>Preferences has the right location?

Select one of the tracks with a broken link, press ctrl-i to Get Info. Say No when iTunes asks if you would like to locate the track, then look at the Summary tab for the location expects to find the file in.
Now try to locate the file in question. The two locations should give a clue as to what to do next.
Here is an example with a file I've deliberately moved from the new layout to the old pre-iTunes 9 layout.
This means iTunes is expecting to find the file at:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
but it isn't there because I've moved it to:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
which is where it would have lived back in iTunes 8 (though the media folder would have been called iTunes Music back then as well).
If you can provide the expected and actual locations of a broken track I should be able to suggest the easiest way to resolve things.
