Iphone 5 Sound Turns Off

Hi guys, my iphone 5 sound turns off by itself after about 8 hours. Anyone knows what could be going on thanks?

I just updated to 7.1 and I am having the same problem. From the home screen, I don't hear text sounds. If I open the imessage app then you hear it, from home screen you don't. Rebooted once... no help.

Has anyone else experienced an issue with the iPhone 5 where all the sounds , including alerts and ringtones, shut themselves off ? It seems as though one of the triggers is if you set an alarm or timer and when it the alarm sounds , you silence it ... all sounds also turn off . The only way to get them back is to restart the phone . Am I alone in this ?

I have an IPhone 4 that turns off on its own. When I plug the phone into an outlet, it says to connect to iTunes. When i connect my phone to itunes, the screen displays the apple icon and doesn't connect to iTunes. I need to backup info on this phone so I can apply my back up to a new iPhone. Is there any another way i can do this? My older phone will not show it's connected to iTunes. I used iCloud on the phone with problems, but I didn't back up all the info thru iCloud. Is there another way to back up?

Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode. In this case, all data on it is gone. There's nothing to back up.

My iPhone 5 keepers turning off but when I turn it back on it comes up with a message with the setting sign gmail not trusted so deleted it off my phone and this is still happening I have the gmail set up on it since I got the phone last year and no problems so I don't know but as I've said I've deleted it and still happens thanks for any help in advance

Connect device to itunes and hold power and home together
When it restarts, immediately release home key
Keep holding the power button for 3 secs
Without releasing power, hold home too for 10 secs
Then release power but dont release home
Keep holding it for about 12 secs(until you hear device detection sound)
Your phone is in DFU mode now
Click restore in itunes and see if it works
If backup is not possible, you will lose all data

To your 1st post: How can I restore the phone to I tunes?
Plug it into iTunes. If you have already done so before, it should have a latest backup. If possible, it will do a backup of your iPhone automatically. You will see the syncing circle. Once that stops, You can perform a restore.
(Make sure you have a recent backup by going to Edit - Preferences - Devices tab and look for the timestamp of backup)
Perform the restore by selecting your device in iTunes, and selecting restore and restore from backup.
To your 2nd post: Can I just leave it plugged in or remove it?
Depending on where you're plugged into. If you're plugged into iTunes and restoring your phone. It will be about a 30min-2hr process depending on how much stuff you have.
If you're plugged into a power source you should wait till it's fully charged before removing it.

You have to have iCloud enabled and Find My iPhone set to On on your iPhone in order to find it. If you're saying you turned this off before losing it I'm afraid you're out of luck.

You don't say which year you have, however...
...there are known problems with the mid-2010 models (see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US) as well as early and late 15" 2011 models (see https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4766577?tstart=0).
Apple has taken ownership of the problems with the 2010 model but, unfortunately, the free logic board replacement for that model has probably long expired for you - three years after date of purchase.
One the 2011 models Apple has admitted no defect. You'll just have to skim the articles to get an overview of the problems that people are having (usually showing up as screen glitches at first and then going downhill from there).

Try forcing the phone into recovery mode and restore as a new device.

Doing this will help eliminate any possible software issue that could be causing this. Setting up a new device will bypass a backup with possible data corruption.
If the issue continues after this, you should contact Apple for service for the phone as it will very likely be a hardware issue.
