IPhone 5 speaker problem

I fixed the problem with the speaker by inserting earphones in and quickly taking them out and then blowing air forcefully into the speaker. During the process play music. It started working immediately (I could hear music playing) but stopped working in a minute or so. I repeated the process and the speaker started working again for another minute. Then it stopped working.  This proves that the problem is mechanical (with hardware). The speakers apparently are too sensitive to either dust or moisture in the air or something else.
Would be interesting to find out if the above method fixed your problem too.

It's under warranty, why in the world would you try to fix it yourself.
There are no legitimate sources for iPhone parts. Apple does not sell parts.
Take it into any Apple Store in the US and let them have a look at it.

  • Iphone speaker problem

Currently I have voice problem on my iphone, my cllaers sometimes can not hear me on ther line. Please advise

Try disconnecting the headphones and then adjusting the volume, does it say headphones?
There might be something in the headphone jack, maybe lint, dirt, or something else in there.
Take a look at this Apple document for more information -> iPhone: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers

  • Iphone speaker problem after ios7 update

After i updated to ios7 on my 4s the right speaker stopped working instantly. Anyone else have thuis problem? And how can it be fixed?

Perform a "hard reset" on the device by pressing down and holding the home button and the sleep/wake button for up to 30secs. until you see a black screen with the Apple logo, then release.
Then test to see if it solved the problem.

  • RE: Speaker problems

I have an iPhone 4S.  I have been having speaker problems for a while now and am slowly realizing when using and doing certain things that my sound is not working.  When I take a video my sound does not work, when I facetime with someone they can't hear me but I can hear them.  When I try and put someone on speaker phone they can't hear me.  I can listen to music and listen to videos from facebook, youtube, etc.  So my question is what could be causing this because I have sound otherwise, I can hear text message sounds, facebook notifications, etc.  Help is appreicated.  Thanks.

    Hi serena36,
This sounds more like a microphone issue that a problem with your speaker. I would suggest using the steps in this article to troubleshoot -

  • What move to make for iphone speaker volume

I have been reading all kinds of goods and bads about the iphones speaker volume over the last week. Yes ipod sounds good to me (Not to where I would ever wanna listen to it in speaker mode.) And NO, my speaker phone does not sound good. Way too low. Im starting to wonder if the people in the forums are saying theirs sounds fine because they have only tested it where there is silence. I'm not looking to be able to hear any speaker phone in the middle of a crowded bar, but I can not even hear it when it is all the way up and sitting beside me in the car, with the windows up. I find myself grabbing it and putting it right near my ear. So....... has anyone determined if this is a software issue or a hardware issue? Should I be bringing my iphone back or wait out the software update? I am surprised that with the release of the phone and all the questions being posted there is no portal for apple employees or techs to address some of these questions like a faqs page targeting some of the consistent questions over the last week. And don't get me wrong I love my iphone and i am not amongst the crew of people in these forums bashing it. Never owned a blackberry or treo or any of that stuff. I said years ago i will purchase something like that when apple puts one out. Never owned a pc in my life and I embrace this phone.

has anyone determined if this is a software issue or a hardware issue?
I assume since the iPod is capable of putting a fair bit of volume through the earpiece that it's a software problem. Have you turned-off volume limits in Settings?
Should I be bringing my iphone back or wait out the software update?
Tough call, if you're trying to decide by the 14 day window. Call Apple under warranty service, tell them if they can't guarantee a volume fix you're going to have to return the phone?
You can ask Apple for iPhone changes via this link:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html Though if you're requesting hardware changes for iPhone v2 you may want to wait a week (or a month?)...they're probably going to be inundated right now by requests for software changes to the current iPhone.

  • My 3GS keeps switching between iPhone speaker and Dock connector and I don't know how to keep it on iPhone speaker

My 3GS keeps switching between iPhone speaker and Dock connector and I don't know how to keep it on iPhone speaker so I can listen to my music and games.  Is it hardware or software problem?

I was told by a friend that sometimes when you use a 3rd party charger that the connectors are not the same size and so it can affect the sensors in the phone and make it seem like it is in a docking station and so changes the output for dock speakers.  With that said, I didn't take my pohone in to be serviced at the appple store because it was a 3GS and over 2 years old and so not covered by any service plan.  Since then my phone is back to normal and I can use my headphones and listen with the speakers on the phone.  I stoped using the suspected cheap 3rd party charger and maybe that's what did it, but not sure if it was or wasn't the cause of my problem.  I'm glad that my phone is better I was kinda holding out for the Iphone 5 when i comes out later and hope my phone lasted until then.

  • Iphone speaker, bugginess

Recently my iphone speaker cut out and sounded as if it was blown out. This confused me due to the fact that I hadn't used the speaker at an excessive volume and I hadn't dropped it. Then I connected the iphone to itunes to charge and randomly the speaker is back to normal?? Now this happens randomly throughout the month, anyone else experiencing this problem?

First try the basic troubleshooting steps described in the User Guide: Restart, Reset, Restore from backup, Restore as new iPhone.
This may be a hardware problem with the speaker, in which case you need warranty service from an Apple Store Genius Bar.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPhone speaker does not work when switching call to hands free option

having problems with IPhone speaker, not working when switching phone calls to speaker mode, any suggestion?

Same problem - I was on the phone last night and the speaker switched off and can't figure out what happened. I tried to reset the phone, no sound is working.  I can hear a phone call if I hold it up to my ear. Very frustrating as my phone is less than 3 months old. Tracy

  • Iphone speaker is very low

    Dears,
Why is the iphone speaker is very low compared with the rest of available brands in the market?
Sometime I can't hear the caller especially when I was in street.
Is there any application could be useful ?
    Thank you

IDK if it;s a problem or not, but when I was in the Apple Store a few weeks ago, I played with 3 iPhones, specifically the speaker phone option and I too noticed that the speaker phone option isn't as loud as my current phone's (v500 motorola)

  • IPhone speaker gone all fuzzy and lost volume

    Hi,
I have an iPhone 3g running 3.0 and the sound from my speaker has deteriorated. i can barely even hear the ringer now. I have already restored my phone to factory default settings but still no change..
this happened after doing a restore because my phone was getting really slow..but i have restored it 2 times after that restore just to see if it is an OS issue..
    Help!

I have the same problem.. I wokeup to find my iPhone speaker very low, when i compared it to a healthy one, I had to put that other one on half the volume to make it at the same level as mine when it is at its maximum.
I went to the customer care and they said they will call me withihn 3 working days. But the woman working there told me the best i would expect is a replacement for almost $400.
Please post if you find any solution.

  • Ipod 4th gen volume buttons not working. Volume bar not showing in music or video apps, not a speaker problem as this works fine when testing built in alarm tones???

Ipod 4th gen volume buttons not working. Volume bar not showing in music or video apps, not a speaker problem as this works fine when testing built in alarm tones???

Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.
If still problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • I used to be able to double click the home button to choose to receive notifications via iPhone speaker instead of the Bluetooth. With ios7, that's gone as well as any obvious way to do it.  I don't wear my Bluetooth on my ear every minute of the day!!!!

I used to be able to choose to receive notifications via iPhone speaker in ios6 by double clicking the home button.  Ios7 took that away and I cannot see how to do it at all.  I don't have my Bluetooth in my ear constantly!!!

If you are getting Siri when you double tap, then your home button must be sticking. Siri comes up when you hold the home button. Try tapping quickly twice. When that happens, the multi-tasking list comes up and you will see the app icon and then a thumbnail, or reduced size view of the app above it. You put your finger on that thumbnail and swipe upwards with your finger.
For that issue, you might want to do a reset of the phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. This will not affect your data.
To be honest, your novel is a little difficult to read, and I think you put too much information in there, and a lot of it is unnecessary. Be to the point and just add information necessary to understand the issue.

  • When I am on a call in my car I can play and hear the music on my iPhone but when I hang up from the call the music reverts back to my iPhone speaker.

when I am on a phone call in my car I can play and hear my iPhone music thru the car speakers but when I hang up from the call, the sound reverts to my iPhone speaker and longer plays thru the car speaker.

    Hello, Jordanali.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that your car will not resume playing music after accepting a call.  Here is a troubleshooting article that I would recommend going through when experiencing this issue.
