IPhone 5 stopped vibrating

Hello, all.
Last night my iPhone 5 stopped vibrating. I've had it just about a year now. I've looked through other threads for a solution to this problem but I haven't found one that works consistently. One thread told me to smack the rear upper left corner of my phone (which seemed a bit strange seeing as I shouldn't have to smack an expensive piece of technology in order to get it to work properly) and that works for a minute or so. Sometimes my phone will vibrate but that is very rare and sporadic. If I put my ear close to that same area, I can hear a click when the phone is supposed to vibrate which leads me to believe there is a hardware problem and I will most likely have to go to the Apple Store to get it fixed. Here are my questions:
- Is there anyone who has had a problem similar to this and if so what did you do to fix it?
- Are there any alternatives to paying to get it fixed? (iPhone repair isn't exactly in my college-student budget right now.)
- How much does it cost to fix something like this? Unfortunately, I don't have insurance.
Thank you so much!

Just wanted to post a final statement about the issue I was having.
First off, I have discovered that Apple has a recall on the iPhone 5 model for having issues with the wake/sleep button which I was also having.
I opted to get the ribbon cable needed to fix my phone and do the work myself.
Turns out the vibrator was not working due to the ribbon cable being torn.  When assembled from the factory, the glue that secures the battery in place also got on the ribbon cable and it seems had put a crease in the cable.
Once I replaced the cable, my wake/sleep button and vibrator issues were fixed.
Just thought I would update for others to see how I solved the issue.

  • My IPhone 3GS just died, it stopped Vibrating a few days ago and now it won't charge.

About a month ago, my IPhone 4 got stolen so I replaced it with an old 3GS. The 3GS was working perfectly fine up until about 3 days ago when it stopped vibrating on silent. I checked the settings and it said that the vibrate was on so it was for sure not working. I shut it off and on and the problem still continued. Then today, I came home from a party and plugged my phone in the charger because it had low battery. The phone wouldn't charge so I tried using 5 more different chargers and sources around my house. By the time I had done this my phone was dead and won't turn on. I have tried cleaning out the charging part and the piece that goes in and multiple other things I've read but nothing seems to be working. Any suggestions?

"I drop the phone a lot"   That pretty much answers your own question.  Sounds like hardware damage which requires evaluation by Apple or an independent repair center.  You might consider a rugged case such as the Otterbox Defender.

  • IPhone 4, Stopped Vibrate After OS Upgrade

    Hi,
    My question has two parts:
    1. My IPhone 4 simply stopped vibrate after a software upgrade, i did everything i restart it stop start the vibrate button but nothing helped, is there anything i can do?
    2. I leave in Israel and there is no Apple store in Israel i got the phone from Canada, in the coming month i fly to London, will i be able to request for server from them? Or it must be in Canada?
p.s. i purchase the phone via the web (Apple Canada)

The iPhone warranty terms state that Apple "may" restrict warranty & service to the country of original purchase. Since your phone is officially unlocked, and officially unlocked iPhones are available in the UK, you may very well get your phone serviced/replaced there. Only one way to find out, book an appointment at an Apple store.

  • My iPhone just stopped vibrating when getting incoming emails...

My iPhone just stopped vibrating when getting incoming emails... Yesterday everytime i got an email, my phone would vibrate, and now, its on vibrate and it doesnt vibrate with new emails, does anyone know how to correct this?

Mine does the same thing, and it also bleeds over into the email tone as well. It works for a while and then it suddenly stops. Turning the phone off and back on fixes it for a while, but it's a pain.

  • My iPhone won't stop vibrating when plugged into my Macbook.  All software is up to date.  iTunes just gives me an error.  No problems when plugged into a PC.  Why the nonstop vibrating!?

My iPhone won't stop vibrating when plugged into my Macbook.  All software is up to date.  iTunes just gives me an error.  No problems when plugged into a PC.  Why the nonstop vibrating!?

When I connect it to my iMac (with up-to-date OS X Yosemite 10.9.5) - it doesn't work.
Specifically - iTunes automatically launches, but then quickly shows a dialog window that says, "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone. This device is no longer connected."
Meanwhile - on my iPhone - in the upper right-hand corner (where the battery life is displayed) - you can see the "plugged in" icon (lightening bolt) rapidly blinking on and off.
In other words - it seems like, when it's plugged in - it's rapidly connecting and disconnecting (several times per second).
If I click "OK" on that dialog window on iTunes - it instantly pops back up, and continues to do so as long as I keep the iPhone plugged in.
I have tried all and stile did not resolve my problem. I tried to restart both devices, try different cable (I have original cable). Both devices are new and software's are update it on latest versions.
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Please Help! Iphone wont stop vibrating!

My iphone started vibrating over 40 min ago, and will not stop. It is unresponsive, i have tried restarting it. The home and lock button are both unresponsive. I pluged it into iTunes, but it doesn't even connect. I only had 18% battery, i thought i could just wait for it to die and restart it, but it still hasn't died. Any advice?

If you have an iPhone 4 with iOS 5, you're probably already syncing to iCloud. You can check by going to settings in your phone. If you don't have that, or don't want to turn on iCloud, below is what I did:
    To back up your contacts:
Connect your phone to the computer you usually sync with
Go to the info tab and choose Sync Contacts with... (I'd suggest Google)
Make sure to copy any pictures and apps.
Once you get a new phone, the apple techs will give you directions, but basically, it's the same thing. Connect your phone, go to info, and then scroll down to advanced and choose replace.
From my experience and the techs I spoke with, the vibrating thing is usually a symptom of a bigger problem. Apple will probably want to wait to replace until you have a second problem (another vibrating issue, turning off, whatever), but if you go to them now, even if they don't replace immediately they'll have a record of it when you show up with a second problem. It's probably not a bad idea to have a backup of your data just in case though, because these phones seem to have a knack for not working when you most need it.
    Good luck!

Take it to any Apple Store for a Free Evaluation.  Be sure to make an Appointment first.

  • HT201412 iphone 4 wont stop vibrating for hours now

  • My iPhone 4 vibrated for over 3.5 hours yesterday, I was not able to make it stop?

My iPhone 4 vibrated for 3.5 hours yesterday I was not able to turn off. The phone got hot and now I am staring at a black screen

Same thing happened to me on the w/end. I have since read (see link below) that pressing the 2 main buttons simultaeneously to reboot is the only possible solution, however, I did this until my fingers were too sore to continue, & the thing just wouldn't shut-down. Left it on a pile of washing overnight to muffle the noise whilst it wore itself out. Re-charged it the next day & has returned to life since, however am noticing a few buggy things with it eg: Music play-back getting scrambled & flicking itself off, & the voice control feature turning itself on randomly. Not surprised,
any device vibrating for that long continuously is definitely not good.

Apple definitely need to get a handle on this one.

  • Iphone can not stop vibrating

Since I missed a phone call, my phone can not stop vibrating. could anybody tell me what is this problem?

Do the reset: hold Home button and Power button at the same time, keep holding until you see the white apple logo (takes about 15 secs).
    Let it start.
    Same problem?
Settings/Sounds/  set "vibrate on ring" to off. Do the reset again. then turn it on again.
    Same problem?
    Up to Apple Repair.

  • After upgrading my iphone4s to 6.1.2, it stopped vibrating.

After upgrading my iphone4s to 6.1.2, it stopped vibrating. I tried to change the settings and sounds. But nothing changes it. I even tried the iBrate app. I reset all the settings and it still doesn't work. Does anyone else face a vibration issue? It was working perfectly till the day before yesterday and got screwed after I upgraded it to 6.1.2.

I restored it and copied all the backed up data into the iPhone after the Restoration process and still it is in the same condition.
