Iphone 5 stuck in recovery mode.  Unknown error 9 when trying to upgrade to ios7.

My phone is stuck in recovery mode. Says error number 9 when trying to dl ios7,

I had the same problem. After itunes extracted the new firmware, the apple logo would come on on my phone and then itunes would give me the unknown error (9). I tried everything I could think of to get ios 7 to download onto my phone but it kept going in a loop. What finally worked for me was after the firmware finished extracting on itunes and the apple logo appeared on my phone, I pressed the home button a few times. After that ios 7 started to load onto my phone. I don't know if it will work all the time, but it worked for me. Hope this works for you.

  • Iphone stuck in Recovery Mode with error 9

I tried to update my 3G to IOS 4 and I got error 9 when I try to restore it in DFU mode, since that when I try Recboot, I get out of the Recovery Mode but I see the apple, then white flash, and apple again..over and over..
Could you help me please ???

I encountered the same "Unknown" error during my update to 1.1.3.
The iPhone does not have enough free space to perform the update.
For those encountering this error during a sync that is not related to an update, you'll have to check and see if your issue is related to free space.
    For me, the solution was:
    1) Choose to NOT sync content on the Music, Photos, Podcasts, and Video tabs. Click Apply.
    2) The iPhone should sync to a mostly empty state
    3) Click the Update button on the Summary tab
    4) At the conclusion of the update, re-select content on the Music, Photos, Podcasts, and Video tabs. Click Sync.

  • IPad gen 1 stuck in recovery mode unknown error 37? How do I fix it!?

Upgraded to latest OS and now the iPad will not recover. White screen and every time I try to recover on iTunes (tried on both mac/pc) it fails with unknown error 37. The tips tell me to turn of some firewall settings but this does not help. Any suggestions? Thanks!

This error may occur when security software (not only a firewall) is blocking certain things.

  • Unknown Error - When trying to Upgrade to OS X Mavericks

    I have a MacBook Air: 1.8 Ghz, 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3. Running OS X 10.8.5 (Mountain Lion)
In the App Store, I see the free Upgrade available for OS X Mavericks.
I click on the free upgrade button to the right of the upgrade notification and then it asks me to enter my apple ID password (which I do) and it throws 2 errors
    1st error - Unknown Error
I click OK (because thats the only option available)
2nd Error - We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)
I click OK (again because that is the only option available).
Cannot download the upgrade. Anyone know what these errors relate to?
    Thanks!

I have home network (AT&T broadband connection - standard tier level/bandwidth)
I have been trying over my own WiFi since I can easily stream movies with no issue (Netflix, Vudu, etc.).
BTW - Macbook Air does NOT have any cat5 network cable connetion hardwired for this device. It only has firewire which is generally used for transferring data between 2 devices. So I'm not sure how I would connect any other way to my network than through WiFi.

    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause this error. Contact the software manufacturer that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.

This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • HT201263 My iPhone 4 started to update but got stuck in recovery mode. I've tried everything anyone on the website has told me to do, but nothing has worked. Is there anything I can do? I need my phone

My iPhone 4 started to update but got stuck in recovery mode. I've tried everything anyone on the website has told me to do, but nothing has worked. When you go to turn it on, it shows the Apple symbol,  then it goes to the connect to iTunes screen. When I do that, it just says error with the code 9006. I've followed what the Apple site has said to do for it, but the phone is still is the same  state. Is there anything I can do? I need my phone back as soon as possible.

    Hello Hester Emily,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're experiencing after this update process.  I found the following article that has more information on the iTunes error code 9006:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Configure your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, or 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
    Take care,
    Alex H.

  • Iphone stuck in recovery mode trying to update

I was attempting to update to the new ios 8. I did this all in the normal way as i usually do. When it got to the extracting software at the top of the itunes screen it took about 1 hour for this to nearly reach the end. then just before it reached the end it stopped and said it could not be restored as the iphone could not be found. now the iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode and every time i connect it to itunes it says i need restore which i do and then the same thing keeps happening. it goes to extracting software bar for an hour and then stops just as it is about to finish.
i have a laptop with windows xp and have installed latest itunes, i have attempted rebooting everything with no joy.
    please help.
    iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.4

Follow exactly what I wrote below to fix iPhone stuck in recovery mode:
Hold both power button & home button for 10 seconds.
Once the device shuts off release the power button and keep holding the home button for 10 more seconds.
The screen will remain black, plug it up to iTunes and see if it detects it.
If that does not work hold both buttons to make device shut down, once screen is off hold the home button while plugging it up to PC.
Do not let go of home button till recovery screen shows up on your device.

  • IPhone stuck in recovery mode, I can't even reset it to factory settings

I wrote a post before this but it seems like it got deleted???
My iPhone is stuck in recovery mode and I've tried everything but nothing works! I can't even reset it to factory settings because I keep getting the "Connect to iTunes" screen. Is there any way that I can reset it to factory settings without using iTunes?
I've searched all over the web, haven't found anything on this... I've tried all the apps that help exit from recovery mode but none of them work!
Please, any help is appreciated! Thank you!
