IPhone 5 Stuck in Recovery Mode

I replaced the battery in my phone today (very carefully). When I rebooted the phone it told me to plug it into iTunes.
I immediatley noticed there was no serial number. When I click on Restore iPhone it goes through some of the motions but cannot restore it for various reasons (I've gotten error (35) (11) and "The device isn't eligible for the requested build.").
I've read that I need to go into DFU mode but when my phone is plugged into my Mac I am unable using any method to power it off. I have a perpetual itunes logo with the plugin cord screen.
I've tried redsn0w to kick it out of recovery mode...which it does for a brief moment but then immediatly the apple icon comes up and it goes back into recovery mode.
Can anyone help? My phone is worthless to me at this point.

Don't bother taking it to an Apple Store. They won't touch it. By opening the phone, no matter how carefully, you have voided any warranty or Apple Care agreement and forfeited all rights to support. You've permanently physically damaged that phone. We won't even talk about the fact that you used jailbreaking tools on it as well.
Sorry. Find a competent 3rd party repair shop or buy a new phone.
And all this because you didn't want to pay the $70 Apple charges to fit a new battery...

  • Iphone stuck in recovery mode trying to update

I was attempting to update to the new ios 8. I did this all in the normal way as i usually do. When it got to the extracting software at the top of the itunes screen it took about 1 hour for this to nearly reach the end. then just before it reached the end it stopped and said it could not be restored as the iphone could not be found. now the iphone 5 is stuck in recovery mode and every time i connect it to itunes it says i need restore which i do and then the same thing keeps happening. it goes to extracting software bar for an hour and then stops just as it is about to finish.
i have a laptop with windows xp and have installed latest itunes, i have attempted rebooting everything with no joy.
    please help.
    iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.4

Follow exactly what I wrote below to fix iPhone stuck in recovery mode:
Hold both power button & home button for 10 seconds.
Once the device shuts off release the power button and keep holding the home button for 10 more seconds.
The screen will remain black, plug it up to iTunes and see if it detects it.
If that does not work hold both buttons to make device shut down, once screen is off hold the home button while plugging it up to PC.
Do not let go of home button till recovery screen shows up on your device.

  • Iphone stuck in recovery mode, what now

iphone stuck in recovery mode, what do i do now pls?

Updating iTunes has nothing to do with an iDevice going into recovery mode.
If the device is in recovery mode, restore it via iTunes on a computer.

  • Iphone stuck in recovery mode and can't recover because "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

I have an iPhone 4S and it has been stuck in recovery mode for whatever reason. I have tried using data recovery software that can turn my phone to normal mode but when it tries all my phone does in turn off and then on again, back into recovery mode. I can't use iTunes to recover my phone because it won't let me do it without updating and recovering the iPhone. When I do this it gives me the error "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
Is there any other way I can restore my phone from backup without getting this error?

  • IPhone stuck in recovery mode after failed update.

Hi, I have a bad situation here... My iPhone 5 got stuck in recovery mode after I tried to update to iOS 7.1.1 from 7.0.4 and it failed (error code 6). If this was my iPod touch I would just restore it because all I have is music, but this iPhone has all my sisters graduation photos, important photos, important school documents, contacts, app data, videos from concerts. Etc. I was wondering if I could get the photos off the phone before restoring it, because they are important. I know I should've backed up my photos and made a backup of the phone, but I've been really busy with a lot of stuff. So I was just wondering if there is any way to get the photos and app data back. The app data doesn't really matter but the photos do. The device was not jailbroken or hacked in any way.
If you could help, tell me ASAP.

When your phone is in recovery mode, it's like it crashed.  The only way that you can get it out of recovery mode is by restoring, and this erases all your data as well.
You can believe what you wish by "reading all over the internet".  This is Apple's technical support forum.  We do know what we're talking about.
since you have very important photos on your phone, why haven't you been importing them to your computer as soon as possible after taking them?  This is how the phone is meant to be used.  Keeping critical data on only a device which can be easily stolen, dropped and broken is just plain foolish.  Also, did you not back up your phone (as you should be doing with any computer) before attempting any operating system update?  As you've now just painfully learned, updates do not always go as planned.
I'm sorry for your data loss, but let this be a very important lesson.  BTW, when was the last time you backed up your computer?  I'm sure you have important data on your computer.  Hard drives WILL fail.

  • HELP! iTunes 8.2.1 update and iPhone stuck in recovery mode!!!!

When I started iTunes today it asked if I wanted to update to 8.2.1. I agreed.
Now, my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode (USB plug + iTunes icon on the iPhone screen).
My phone is useless at this point. I DEPEND on having this phone working, and NEED the data stored on this phone.
How can I simply get my phone working again?

Unfortunately, that does not help me either.
At this point the phone will not come out of recovery mode without being restored. All my data is going to be lost.
Thanks for letting me have access to backup my data, APPLE! -- NOT!
I'll be glad when my cell contract is over.

Doing a search on Google revealed this:
if you ever edited your hosts file ...change it back. basically do the reverse of this to about step 5:
    mac
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=7556
    windows
    http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=7557
(editing the file back to the original worked for me)
Follow those instructions and see if that helps.

  • Can i recover my photos from iphone stuck in recovery mode?

Can I recover my photos from an iphone 4 stuck in recovery mode?

    Not likely.
You can try a reset (Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the screen goes dark and the Apple logo appears) to see if it kicks it out of recovery but most likely you will need to restore.
Did you backup with iTunes or iCloud?

    I GOT THE SOLUTION!!
This problem happens due a conflict between the Samsung's Software "NEW PC STUDIO" and the Apple Drivers!
The solution is unistall all Samsung's Software and removing all Apple Softwares as well (like iTunes, device drivers etc)
Then cleaning the Windows Register with some software like CCleaner AND manually using REGEDIT, just find for Samsung (carefully with other Samsung Devices like HardDrive. You musn't remove something like that) then, finding for New PC Studio.
Remove all Keys related Samsung New PC Studio.
Restart your PC and reinstall iTunes lastest version.
Now, you can put your iPhone in Recovery Mode that Windows will recognize it!

  • IPhone stuck in recovery mode URGENT

Hi there. My iPhone is stuck in recovery mode when I tried recovering it a few hours ago. I've used two different USB cables, re-installed iTunes twice, followed all the methods for iTunes not recognizing my iPhone and still it doesn't work. It just simply doesn't recognize it and when I connect it it wants me to install 'Apple Mobile Device Support (Recovery Mode)' which I do already seem to have installed if I go into 'Manage Drivers'. I've tried re-installing Apple Mobile Device Support and using DFU mode but that doesn't help either. Help! I really need my phone for tomorrow!

Take it to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) and see if they can help you...
Be sure to make an appointment first...
