  • Iphone stuck on 'plug into itunes' symbol - even after hard reboot

Deciding to update my iphone 3G with the most current version release, my computer 'blue screened' while putting the updates on the iphone. Now my computer does not recognise any operating system (not good!) and my iphone (even after hard reboot) does not get past the 'plug into itunes' symbol.
How do I fix my iphone? - I don't want to reset it to factory settings as my computer with everythihng on it (songs, movies, apps, contact, etc) no longer works!
Any ideas, other than going to the Genius Bar and hoping they can fix it?

  • IPhone stuck on plug into iTunes screen

I pugged my iPhone in to iTunes on my computer the other day and it worked fine until an unknown error popped up mid update so I pressed cancel and unplugged my iPhone but on my iPhone it just told me to plug my phone into iTunes but every time I plug it in, my phone nor computer read it as plugged in. My phone is now stuck on the screen that tells me to plug it into iTunes. I can turn it on and off and reset it but it is still stuck on the screen. I have checked the plug with other phones and it is fully functional. iTunes is also updated  to the newest software on the computer.

  • Tried to upgrade my iPhone 4 to 5.1 and now it is  stuck in "plug into itunes mode" after trying to update to iOs 5.1 and receiving error (1).

Tried to upgrade my iPhone 4 to 5.1 and now it is  stuck in "plug into itunes mode" but will not recover when I plug it in. It is coming up as "unkown error (1)". Is there anything I can do?
Also, is there any way to recover pictures I have not yet backed up? They should be on iTunes, but do not show up when I plug the phone in or otherwise.
Is there any hope in saving this phone or is my best bet contacting Verizon or Apple to overnight me a new one?

    From iPhoneWiki:
Try changing the USB port (the back one of chassis is better) and restart computer.
The installed version of iTunes may also be too old. Update iTunes.
Also put your iPhone in DFU mode when doing the above and restore. It's a software error.

  • My iphone5 is stuck on "plug into iTunes" mode

my iPhone 5 is stuck on "plug into iTunes mode" and when i plug it in iTunes pops up with a message that says "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." can i not restore it?

    Hello there, Brentsly9.
If you've getting the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then the following Knowledge Base article offers up the best steps for resolving your issue:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    Use recovery mode
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Use iTunes to restore your device.
If you don't see your device in iTunes, follow these steps for Mac or these for Windows.

  • IPhone is stuck on plug into iTunes screen

I plugged in my phone to iTunes last night so that I could update it over night, but when I got up this morning it was on the plug into itunes screen. My phone has been stuck of the plug iTunes screen for a couple hours now. I tried turning it off and back on again, but every time i do that it returns back to the "plug into itunes" screen. I have tried plugging it into iTunes atleast 10 times, and nothing happens on itunes. It doesn't show that there is a device being connected. I don't want to lose all my data because I haven't backed it up yet... If any has any way of fixing this please let me know, I really need it to work. Thanks.

OK so I went to the Apple store and he managed to restart my iPhone by putting it into "recovery mode". I just Googled how to do this as I wasn't there when he did it..
Disconnect the USB cable from your iPhone, but leave the other side connected to your Mac or PC
    Launch iTunes
Press and hold down the Home and Sleep/Power button on the top of the iPhone to turn off the iPhone
Press and continue to hold the Home Button while you reconnect the USB cable to your iPhone, this will cause the iPhone to turn on
Continue to hold the Home button until an alert message in iTunes informing you that an iPhone in recovery mode has been detected, like the screenshot below:
Your iPhone is now in recovery mode. If you have not launched iTunes, you will see the familiar screen of the USB cable pointing at the iTunes logo signaling to connect the iPhone to iTunes to start recovery.
Once you’re in recovery mode, you can either restore the iPhone or adjust the firmware as necessary.
After restoring or upgrading firmware, your iPhone will automatically reboot and exit recovery mode on it’s own.
It seems you will also need a wifi connection to complete the recovery mode.
TIP: If you have backed up your iPhone, click the "restore from iTunes back up" (last option) so when you plug it back in, it will restore from your back up instead of restoreing it to the original factory setttings.
NOTE: The above was really hard for me to get working so good luck! I tried a number of times and didn't get any message in iTunes but got my iPhone into what i assume is the "recovery mode". I'm still trying to get access a wi-fi connection to see if this will work but I will post another update once I can give it a go!
Good Luck! And let me know if anyone successful!

  • Phone stuck at "Plug Into iTunes screen" but it is not frozen.

I'm using windows 8.1. My iTunes can successfully sync and detect my ipad air but after updating my ipod touch 4th gen this afternoon, it is stuck at the "Plug into iTunes" screen you have when you first get such a device. When I plug it into my computer, the "USB Plug-in" sound is heard and the Apple Mobile Device Driver detects it in Device manager, but the Ipod does not appear in My Computer or iTunes and remains stuck on the "Plug into to iTunes" screen

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Hello fellow iPhone users, I need help.
When I tried to update the phone (5c), it got stuck on the -plug into iTunes- screen. The iTunes also stopped recognizing the phone.
    I have tried:
    1. turning it off
    2. putting it on DFU mode
    3. putting it on recovery mode
    4. reconnecting iPhone to iTunes with different USB ports/cables.
After doing all of these things, iPhone is still unrecognized on the iTunes (yes it is updated), and the phone remains on the same screen. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

  • Please Help: Attempted install of new IOS 7 for iPhone - cell then requested to be plugged into iTunes - told it was in recovery mode - tried to restore - got error 4013

After attempting to install the new update, my iPhone is requesting to be pugged into iTunes. On the screen is a picture of iTunes and a cord. When I plug it into my MacBook air it will no recognzie it - though it did so in the past. I attempted a number, if not all, suggested I could find posted but nohting worked. As per one reconmondation, I have attempted to plug it into my PC (Which I don't use often - so I had to do all the updates). My PC recognized the phone and said that my phone was in recovery mode. So, I allowed iTunes to do its thing - iTunes said it was installing updates and recovering the phone (which took about an hour). When it was done, iTunes informed me that the phone needed recovery. So, I clicked recovery. It went through its thing then popped up with an error message 4013. When I requestion further information (button on the bottom), it opens a blank workd document (not really sure what that is about). After the error message, I reset the compuer and plugged it back in. Clicked the restore button but I received the same error message again.
I have also tried to plug it back into my Mac but still no luck.
On both my Mac and PC I have
    - Done all the update to both software and iTunes,
    - Reset the computer (multiple times)
    - reset the phone - but the picure of iTunes and cord remains
    - tried different cords
    - disabled my security settings
    - tried different USB ports
I am at a loss. This is my only phone so I am unable to call apple support. Plus I live in a small town, so there are no apple aproved stores near by.
Thank you in advance for your help

Spent hours trying everything suggested and finally this morning hit on a solution. iTunes must be run as an administrator. Even though you are logged into your PC as an administrator, using the iTunes shortcut does not make you an administrator in iTunes. I found this out by using the diagnostics in iTunes and reading through the results report.
I am using Windows 7, so I clicked the start button and right clicked on iTunes and selected "Run as an adimistrator". The first restore attempt got the 4013 error. I then did the DFU thing, hold power and home buttons for 10 seconds, release power and continue holding home for 10 more seconds.
iTunes gave me the restore message and I clicked it. I clicked the restore iPhone button and it started. The drivers loaded a couple of times. I got the apple logo with the progress bar and this time instead of disappearing, it started to fill in.
End result, a successful restore to factory settings and a happy 14 year old.
    Hope this helps others.
