  • How can I delete or transfer some (not all) Albums, Music and pics in "Photo Library" NOT purchased in iStore from my iPhone to a computer, when the original computer that did the original iTunes to iPhone synch is no longer available (stolen)?

The iPhone iOS 4 User Guide sees to indicate that the SYNCH function is all one way from computer to iPhone, unless it is for purchased items in iStore on the iPhone.

    Hi wjosten,
thanks for the "TouchCopy" software link. I have downloaded a demo copy and it will resolve my transfer of music from iPhone to the new computer. I can then delete any unwanted music on the new computer, then re-synch the updated music to iPhone.
I am not sure about the photos.   On my iPhone, there are two photo "albums" - one called "camera roll" and the other called "photo library."  TouchCopy finds the pictures in the "camera roll" DCIM folder, and I can copy them to the new computer etc.
However, TouchCopy does not seem to find the "Photo Library" folder.  Any clues?

  • Have PC, Iphone and Ipad. IPhone synchs but IPad sync generates "could not connect to Iphone 0xE8000065" error (not Ipad!)

I have a PC, Iphone and Ipad. The IPhone synchs but an IPad sync generates a "could not connect to Iphone 0xE8000065" error!
It thinks I am syncing the Iphone again as opposed to the Ipad.
I rebooted both but Apple failed to sync the Ipad again.
    Thoughts?

I have been syncning fine until this so I was relcutant to believe anyhting need to be changed.
Howver I control - alt - deleted to get MS task manager and then disabled all Apple processes and then rebooted. I also renamed "Ipad" as Ipad1.
Not sure then which if either was responsible for the cure but it is now working.
Why do Microsoft and Apple find it so difficult to play together?

  • ITunes/ipad/iPhone synching problems

I have an ipad and iPhone synched to iTunes via the same apple ID. Ive recently deleted a number of tracks in itunes, the ipad syncs correctly and updates the deleted items but the deleted tracks are not being removed from the iPhone? The ipad matches iTunes but the iPhone now does not. How can I get the iPhone to sync correctly and update the deleted tracks?

Wanted to follow up on this as the problem has now been solved (thanks to Apple's excellent support). I had purchased the extended care package when I upgraded my Mac (based on prior experience I knew it would be money well spent). That allowed me to call Apple support and ask them for their help. After removing a set of cache files located in my iPhoto application I'm not able to sync both my iPad and my iPhone. Issue resolved.

  • Turning off iPhone synch spawning iPhoto app

whenever I try to synch my iPhone, the synch launches iPhoto.
That's a bit irritating, because it eats up bandwidth. I'd rather not have to close up another app so that my iPhone synch doesn't slow down my iMac & daily chores.
    *Can we turn this off??*

IPhoto menu -> Preferences -> General Pane: Connecting Camera... And select 'Does Nothing' from the drop down.

  • New computer-keep getting iphone synched with another itunes library

    So here's the situation.
I got a new computer the other day and put Itunes on it. I hooked my iphone up to it and authorized my new computer. Seemed like everything was fine, that was until I went into devices and clicked on music. I then went to synch music and then hit apply and get the whole "the device is synched with another itunes/library, do you want to erase the iphone and synch with this itunes library.
I still have my old computer (Which is in pieces on the floor) and realized today that I didn't deauthorize it. Am I in trouble here?

As far as your iPhone is concerned, it is a new iTunes Library. Let it go thru it's steps (including making a backup and restoring from the backup) and all should be fine.
You can authorize up to 5 computers, so you are fine if you're under this limit. When you do reach it, you can deauthorise all computers (even without having access to them), then authorize the one you are using. So you are not in trouble here, either.

  • IPhone synch error "Unable to read or write to drive C:/".....HELP!

I keep getting this error when I am trying to synch my iPhone with iTunes. It just recently started. It starts to synch and transfer over the music I have bought on my phone then all of a sudden it gives me the error that it can't locate my drive C:/ and can't read or write to it. My C drive isn't full and I even deleted a bunch of stuff. I downloaded the new version of iTunes and have turned off the computer and the phone numerous times. Anyone else have this problem or suggestions??!!

Are you a local admin on the machine?

  • IPhone synch after hard drive failure

I have an iMac 7.1 and after a total hard drive failure I had a new drive installed. Everything was wiped out, but at least I have the iTunes library still on my iPhone Here starts the problem.
After reading posts for the better half of a day I tried all suggested approaches, however the descriptions for doing it within iTunes don't seem to work (they insist on erase and synch the new (empty) library. I authorized the iTunes account on the iMac - still the same.
There are programs out there that rip the content from the iPhone, something I think is the wrong approach. Apple has to provide a way for its customers that have done nothing wrong to get their data back from a legal copy on the iPhone. This right way will likely exist, I just can't find it.
Anyone can point me in the right direction?

Hi, what no back up? -- well lets be honest everything should be covered by Apple & iTunes but!!
I use SENUTI @ odd times & it's an excellent App...why you are so against 3rd party app's I'm not sure..
If you have friend with a Mac & has some music you like you can always set up SHARING & dragNdrop..
With my first mac (ibookG4) I lost all my music etc.. a lesson learned, always back up otherwise it's a long arduous task burning your cd's one by one..If you purchased your music thro' iTunes you can contact them, at times have allowed me to Re download purchased items....L

  • IPhone synching unchecked playlists

I just updated my iPhone and then did a synch and for some reason it took an entire unchecked playlist of several gigabytes from iTunes to my iPhone, which I never intended to happen. The playlist didn't show up but all the tracks did. There are 271 of them. What did I do wrong here or is there a flaw in the new firmware? And how can I get rid of these tracks on my iPhone? Thanks.

Connect your iphone to the computer and open itunes.
When the iphone shows up on the left side under devices, click on the name of the iphone if it is not highlighted.
To the right you will see the summary page with some tabs at the top.
Click on the music tab and set to sync either entire library or selected playlists.
Once you have checked the boxes you want, click apply at the bottom right of itunes.
If this does not work, here are a couple of articles from the apple support website that might help out.

  • IPhone synch issue?

I've gotten this error a few times in the few days I've had my iPhone. It is a refurb 8gb, and it is up to date on the software updates.
This morning I got this when trying to synch a few episodes of Jericho which I purchased via iTunes, and which synch to my video iPod without an issue. I know it isn't full, I've got over 5gb free
    Any thoughts?

  • IPhone synched with another library

Had to restore my pc back to factory settings. Now iTunes is stating that my iPhone is synced with another iTunes library.
If I do erase and synch with this library, will it erase my apps and photos or just music?
    Thanks

  • Sharing iCal from Laptop to iPhone - synching colour ???

I want to use iCal across my Mac and iPhone. BUT when I synch the two I find that I lose some of the entries. The MAIN ones in my name & main colour are saved to iPhone BUT I also created entries in other colours EG business, social, colleague's diary etc .. and these are not being copied across. Any suggestions? Thanks

If Damon's suggestion of resetting sync history doesn't fix the problem you most likely have a bad contact record in iCal. When they sync encounters the bad record it doesn't know what to do with it so it stops. To fix it you must find the bad record, open it, make a small change, and save it. An easy way to find the bad record is to create a new group and set the iPhone to sync to this group. Put a few records into the group at a time, then sync. At some point the sync will fail or hang. You have then narrowed the problem to a few records.

  • Iphone Synching with new MAC

I just bought the new 2.0 Aluminum MACBOOK and heard that I can synch my phone to my MACBOOK with the Bluetooth capability, thus not having to plug it in. Is this true and how do I do it? Thank you.

Unless they changed something, I don't think the iPhone can sync using bluetooth. The model of computer shouldn't matter.

  • ITunes U and iPhone synching

I want some iTunes U programs off of my iPhone.  I deleted them from iTunes U but upon synching my iPhone overwrote iTunes and placed the programs back in iTunes U.  I deleted them again and emptied the Recycle Bin.  In iTunes I clicked off Synching Books, I deleted the iTunes U programs again and emptied the Recycle Bin.  Upon clicking off Synching Books and clicking Apply...the iPhone overwrote iTunes again and the programs are back in iTunes.
I want the programs off of my iPhone but they can't be deleted unless it's done via a synch.  When I remove them from iTunes thinking that will overwrite the iPhone...the iPhone puts them back in iTunes when synching.
    Help!

I'm using a Windows 7 machine and my similar problem started when I got a new iPod and tried to synch my previous iPod's library with it. What seemed to work was I located the iTunes Library.itl file in the iTunes folder and restored it to an early point. Then it recognized my iPhone as my iPhone and I was able to back-up and synch. I'm sure I'll have issues with my iPod, though.

  • ICal to iPhone synching deleted events

When synching iCal to my iPhone, I get multiple deleted items added back to my iPhone. I then have to go through and delete them on the iPhone manually. These items are no longer on iCal on my MacBook Pro, but everytime I synch these old deleted events continue to show up. I have changed the name of the calender to see if a particular file was corrupted - that does not fix the problem. It is getting to the point where I just dread synching my iPhone. Any suggestions?

In iTunes, there should be a setting to choose which calendar events created on the phone are added to - something like: “Put new events created on this phone into". (I don't have an iPhone to check detail.)
Make sure that the calendar selected here is the one you are syncing with.
My suspicion is that - even though you are not creating these events on the phone - this setting is preventing their deletion being recognised at the iCal end of the equation.
