Iphone 5 three-way calling

My new Iphone 5 makes me wait at least 14 seconds before the icon for "add line" lights up and allows me to add a call.  I'm on Verizon.  Anyone else have this issue?

My iPhone 4S worked perfectly and this was not an issue.  The add line icon light up with all the other icons.  Does the iPhone 5 have something that disallows immediate three-way calling and if so, how is it otherwise inferior to the 4S?  I may go back to the 4S if the problem can't be solved.

  • Three way calling..... Problems....!!!

The problem is when you merge 2 parties into one; it is either you hear nothing at all from both parties, or you only can talk to 1 person putting the other person on hold. Simply, "merge" just does not work.
I called at&t 10 times to find a solution, still no go.
Talking to a service representatives did not help much. What they do is that they just remove 3 way call feature and put it back on to your account from their at&t system, or they suggest power cycle the phone, or call apple.(duh!) At times, it worked momentarily then voila, the same problem continues.
Then I talked to a tech support, I do not know what it is called but the tech disconnected my iPhone 3g from the network and reconnected it. She said this process is different from partial remove/add features that customer support rep did, it was rather total reset from the network.
Right after the talk with tech support, I was able to connect & merge 3 people (my friends) together that I could not before. Next day, I tried three way calling for the same 3 people but it did not work ever since.
I test called three way call today, calling 611 and Apple iPhone support number 800-694-7400, and it works! However, problem still exists when I try to connect my friends, the same 3 people mentioned above. What gives?
Does the problem have something to do with my friends' carriers? One has T-mo, the other one has Helio, and the third has vonage VOIP home service.
    Please let me know.

  • Three way calls issue

    Hello,
I am having difficulty with my phone. First problem. I can make three way calls, but I can't end a call with one person without having to end the call with both individuals. I was on a very important phone call today, long distance, and this really messed me up! Second, when someone calls me, and I put that person on hold to answer another incoming call, when I end the conversation with that incoming call I have to hang up on the other caller on hold!
I have Verizon. Does any one else have this problem??
Please help. It is so frustrating.

Verizon is a CDMA carrier, so your options are limited.  This describes (from the iPhone User Manual):

  • Three way call

Is it possible to drop a caller during a three way call without having to as them to hang up on their own? Is this a limitation of VERIZON's service?

If YOU made the call you should be able to hang up.  If someone else made the 3-way connection I wouldnt think so.

No need to take it there, chelsead13. Throwing it in the river would only make things worst. We can disable 3-way calling. Please follow me (ChaunceyM_VZW) and send me a direct message. Be sure to include your contact number. I look forward to speaking with you.

  • How to use three way calling

How do you end a call after you've merged it for three way calling?

Hi there, there is no star function to activate the three-way calling feature.  Here is a very helpful link that will explain on how to use three-way calling with Verizon.

  • Can i do a three way call using facetime?

Can I do three way calling using facetime on my ipad??

    Hi Teach,
Unfortunately conference calls are not an application that Facetime supports.  In my opinion, it would probably not work very well with personal Lan networks because it would require too much bandwidth, since streaming video does require quite a bit of it.  So for now, it has to be one on one.

  • Unlimited Nights and Weekends and three-way calling questions

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find the answer searching the boards.
With Unlimited Nights and Weekends, if you initiate a call at 8:50pm on a weekday that lasts an hour, will you be charged minutes for the entire call (60 minutes) or only the first 11 minutes?  On a related note, what if you make a three-way call at 8:50pm on a weekday?  Are you charged the same number of minutes as a call to a single number?  What about after 9:01pm?  In other words, is there no difference between a call to a single number vs. a call to two numbers?  BTW, all of these scenarios are for calls inside the United States.
    Thank you!

To answer the first part, you would be charged for the first 11 minutes because the Verizon network recognizes when the call rolls into a free minute period.  As far as 3 way calling is concerned, you are actively calling 2 numbers so the minutes to both numbers count againist your minute plan and then would transition to free minutes after 9pm.  Hope this answers your questions.

  • HTC ThunderBolt Three-Way Calling

Hi everyone. I've searched the forum but haven't found a topic that discusses this problem I have. When I'm using three way calling feature  on the Thunderbolt and want to disconnect just one call and continue with the other, the device drops both calls instead of just one. I checked the user manual and it says that I just need to select the call that I want to end press end call. For some reason both calls end. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

    Hi everyone!
There is much confusion on whether this is by design or a flaw and whatnot. And some of the confusion may be mine.
Let me say first, my post on another thread that has been copy/pasted here was about call waiting only. It had nothing to do with a three-way conference call. The call waiting feature is designed to have both calls end and the original call rings back in five seconds later. The original caller in that scenario doesn't know it's ringing back to you, they're still on-hold and when you answer the call-back, they are re-joining you.
Now, in this thread about three-way calling, I believe what we are trying to correct (and establish something is wrong) is the 'private call' feature that allows you to basically end the 3-way call and go back to a two-way call with the first participant. And that function is not working properly, resulting in both calls ending.  I have a Thunderbolt and have never used the three-way conference call feature. And you can imagine the amount of people making use of this feature is far smaller than those making two-way calls. I only say that because internally we have nothing posted about this issue, making it hard to fix in any amount of software updates. I have tested three-way calling with two different thunderbolts and I have the same results. No 'Private Call' option.
So, I will take this information and escalate to our product team for further investigation in hopes we can correct it in a future update!
Please politely advise here if I'm way off base or not.
    Thank you so much!

  • UK calls to 0844 numbers and three way calling

    Can somebody help me please.
Is there a Skype package available which includes calls to 0844 numbers? I am based in the UK and am due to be working on a project where i will be transferring customers through to an 0844 number to complete the process. I would also like to know if I can do three way calling on Skype when the other two callers are not on Skype but on ordinary phones.
    Thank you in advance.

Currently there isn't a subscription that would cover calls to 0844 numbers in UK, but you can purchase Skype Credit and use it to pay for your calls.
Keep in mind that calls to 0844 numbers are charged at higher rates:
    http://www.skype.com/intl/en/prices/payg-rates/?currency=GBP#cc=GB
It is possible to make conference calls with ordinary phones.

  • Making group outside phone calls - Three Way Call...

HI, I am a call first to someone from the UK. Then, I need to patch us into a US conference call number, so this is three way calling. All is done by outside phone calls using the Skype device through Skype credit. How does that work? Is that possible?

  • N95-1 three way calling problem

I had 3 way calling feature before firmware update. After update . I can no loger be able to use that. (eg. while talking with a friend, if I dial the 3rd person, I can join the 2lines by pressing the green call button). After update, pressing call button doesn't join the 2 calls any more. It puts on hold the first call. If I press the call button again, it puts the 2nd person on hold and vice versa.Three of us can never be able to talk to each other at the same time as I used to. I updated the FW again no diffrence. My conference call works. I activated my call waiting. called my network operater and confirmed with them that my call waiting feature still actived. can any one help me?

Hey has anyone split up a  3-way call after initiating it.  I had the iphone for AT&T and I would simply tap conference and end call.  This is very helpful when you have someone on the phone and get someone else's voice mail.  I had american express after waiting for this person, I called the merchant and got their answering machine.   I then had to hang-up and was forced to hang up on all parties having to start all over again
I called and they told me after 20 min of research that this is not available with iPhone 4 CDMA.  Why not it is on my verizon blackberry so it is not a CDMA thing.  It is also available on my iphone for AT&T so it is not a phone thing.  Verizon/Apple please explain or at least offer a solution!!!
I think this the first bug with conference calling. See the wired review article:

  • Why can't I drop a call on three way calling

Ok so someo called me and then I call someone else but the person didn't answer but when I tried to hang up it hung up on both parties it didn't give me an option to add another call or hang up on the person I was calling

    Hello there, tacarra12.
The following link from the online iOS8 iPhone User Guide goes over how to drop a person on a conference call:
    Conference calls - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iph3c99551d
    Conference calls
With GSM, you can set up a conference call with up to five people (depending on your carrier).
Note: Conference calls may not be available if your call is using VoLTE (Voice over LTE).
Create a conference call. While on a call, tap Add Call, make another call, then tap Merge Calls. Repeat to add more people to the conference.
Drop one person: Tap next to a person, then tap End.
Talk privately with one person: Tap , then tap Private next to the person. Tap Merge Calls to resume the conference.
Add an incoming caller: Tap Hold Call + Answer, then tap Merge Calls.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Three way calling

How do I receive a call, place it on hold, call a third number, and then conference all three?

While in the first call, tap the Add Call button, dial the number for the second call and tap the Phone button, when the person answers the phone, tap Merge.
